In this paper, the flexural analysis of a simply supported damped Rayleigh beam subjected to distributed loads and with damping due to resistance to the transverse displacement resting on elastic foundation is obtained. The characteristics of the beam are assumed uniform over the beam length while the foundation is considered of Winkler type. In order to evaluate the vibration characteristics of the dynamical system, the Fourier sine integral transformation in conjunction with the asymptotic method of Struble is used to solve the governing equations for the transversal vibrations in the beam structure induced by moving load. The effect of prestress and other structural parameters were considered. Numerical results show that the structural parameters have significant influence on the behaviour of the dynamical system.

In this study, the dynamic response of axially prestressed Rayleigh beam resting on elastic foundation and subjected to concentrated masses traveling at varying velocity has been investigated. Analytical solutions representing the transverse-displacement response of the beam under both concentrated forces and masses traveling at nonuniform velocities have been obtained. Influence of various parameters, namely, axial force, rotatory inertia correction factor, and foundation modulus on the dynamic response of the dynamical system, is investigated for both moving force and moving mass models. Effects of variable velocity on the vibrating system have been established. Furthermore, the conditions under which the vibrating systems will experience resonance effect have been established. Results arrived at in this paper are in perfect agreement with existing results.

The dynamic response of the Timoshenko beam resting on an elastic foundation subjected to harmonic moving load using modal analysis (MA) was investigated. The method of MA was employed to obtain a closed form solution to this class of dynamical systems. In order to use MA, accurate information is needed on the natural frequencies, mode shapes and orthogonality of the mode shapes. A thorough literature survey reveals that the method has not been reported in existing literature to solve non-prestressed Timoshenko beams. Thus, we present complete information on how to use MA to derive the forced vibration responses of a simply thick beam subjected to harmonic moving loads. The effects of axial force and foundation parameters on the dynamic characteristics of the beams are studied and described in detail. In order to validate the accuracy of this method, we compare the frequency parameter with the existing literature which appears to compare favorably.

The problem of large deflection of a rectangular plate resting on a Pasternak-type foundation and subjected to a uniform lateral load has been investigated by utilizing the linearized equation of plates due to H. M. Berger. The solutions derived and based on the effect of the two base parameters have been carried to practical conclusions by presenting graphs for bending moments and shear forces for a square plate with all edges simply supported.

The dynamic responses of simply supported horizontal pipes conveying gas-liquid two-phase slug flow are explored. The intermittent characteristics of slug flow parameters are mainly considered to analyze the dynamic model of the piping system. The results show that the variations of the midpoint transverse displacement could vary from periodic-like motion to a kind of motion whose amplitude increases as time goes on if increasing the superficial gas velocity. Meanwhile, the dynamic responses have certain relations with the vibration acceleration. By analyzing the parameters in the power spectrum densities of vibration acceleration such as the number of predominant frequencies and the amplitude of each peak frequency, the dynamic behaviors of the piping system like periodicity could be calculated expediently.
