In this paper, we propose a new lifetime distribution called the generalized weighted Rama (GWR) distribution, which extends the two-parameter Rama distribution and has the Rama distribution as a special case. The GWR distribution has the ability to model data sets that have positive skewness and upside-down bathtub shape hazard rate. Expressions for mathematical and reliability properties of the GWR distribution have been derived. Estimation of parameters was achieved using the method of maximum likelihood estimation and a simulation was performed to verify the stability of the maximum likelihood estimates of the model parameters. The asymptotic confidence intervals of the parameters of the proposed distribution are obtained. The applicability of the GWR distribution was illustrated with a real data set and the results obtained show that the GWR distribution is a better candidate for the data than the other competing distributions being investigated.

A new lifetime model, with four positive parameters, called the Weibull Birnbaum-Saunders distribution is proposed. The proposed model extends the Birnbaum-Saunders distribution and provides great flexibility in modeling data in practice. Some mathematical properties of the new distribution are obtained including expansions for the cumulative and density functions, moments, generating function, mean deviations, order statistics and reliability. Estimation of the model parameters is carried out by the maximum likelihood estimation method. A simulation study is presented to show the performance of the maximum likelihood estimates of the model parameters. The flexibility of the new model is examined by applying it to two real data sets.

In this paper, we introduce a new family of continuous distributions called the beta transmuted Dagum distribution which extends the beta and transmuted familys. The genesis of the beta distribution and transmuted map is used to develop the so-called beta transmuted Dagum (BTD) distribution. The hazard function, moments, moment generating function, quantiles and stress-strength of the beta transmuted Dagum distribution (BTD) are provided and discussed in detail. The method of maximum likelihood estimation is used for estimating the model parameters. A simulation study is carried out to show the performance of the maximum likelihood estimate of parameters of the new distribution. The usefulness of the new model is illustrated through an application to a real data set.

In this work, we introduce a new Burr XII power series class of distributions, which is obtained by compounding exponentiated Burr XII and power series distributions and has a strong physical motivation. The new distribution contains several important lifetime models. We derive explicit expressions for the ordinary and incomplete moments and generating functions. We discuss the maximum likelihood estimation of the model parameters. The maximum likelihood estimation procedure is presented. We assess the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators in terms of biases, standard deviations, and mean square of errors by means of two simulation studies. The usefulness of the new model is illustrated by means of three real data sets. The new proposed models provide consistently better fits than other competitive models for these data sets.

In this article, the Topp-Leone odd log-logistic Gumbel (TLOLL-Gumbel) family of distribution have beenstudied. This family, contains the very flexible skewed density function. We study many aspects of the new model like hazard rate function, asymptotics, useful expansions, moments, generating Function, R´enyi entropy and order statistics. We discuss maximum likelihood estimation of the model parameters. Further, we study flexibility of the proposed family are illustrated of two real data sets.

A new distribution called the Lindley-Burr XII (LBXII) distribution is proposed and studied. Some structural properties of the new distribution including moments, conditional moments, distribution of the order statistics and R´enyi entropy are derived. Maximum likelihood estimation technique is used to estimate the model parameters. A simulation study to examine the bias and mean square error of the maximum likelihood estimators is presented and applications to real data sets in order to illustrate the usefulness of the new distribution are given.

In this article, a new four-parameter model is introduced which can be used in mod- eling survival data and fatigue life studies. Its failure rate function can be increasing, decreasing, upside down and bathtub-shaped depending on its parameters. We derive explicit expressions for some of its statistical and mathematical quantities. Some useful characterizations are presented. Maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the model parameters. The censored maximum likelihood estimation is presented in the general case of the multi-censored data. We demonstrate empirically the importance and exibility of the new model in modeling a real data set.

<p>This paper is concerned with the estimators problems of the generalized Weibull distribution based on Type-I hybrid progressive censoring scheme (Type-I PHCS) in the presence of competing risks when the cause of failure of each item is known. Maximum likelihood estimates and the corresponding Fisher information matrix are obtained. We generalized Kundu and Joarder [7] results in the case of the exponential distribution while, the corresponding results in the case of the generalized exponential and Weibull distributions may be obtained as a special cases. A real data set is used to illustrate the theoretical results.</p>

AbstractIn this paper, we introduce a new generalization of Aradhana distribution called as Weighted Aradhana Distribution (WID). The statistical properties of this distribution are derived and the model parameters are estimated by maximum likelihood estimation. Simulation study of ML estimates of the parameters is carried out in R software. Finally, an application to real data set is presented to examine the significance of newly introduced model.

In this paper, we have introduced a new family of general transmuted distributions and have studied the cubic transmuted family of distributions in detail. This new class of distributions oers more distributional exibility when bi-modality appear in the data sets. Some special members of the proposed cubic transmuted family of distributions have been discussed. We have investigated, in detail, the proposed cubic transmuted family of distributions for parent exponential distribution. The statistical properties along with the reliability behavior for the cubic transmuted exponential distribution have been studied. We have obtained the expressions for single and joint order statistics when a sample is available from the cubic transmuted exponential distribution. Maximum likelihood estimation of parameters for cubic transmuted exponential distribution has also been discussed. We have also discussed the simulation and real data applications of the proposed distribution.

Missing-data problems are extremely common in practice. To achieve reliable inferential results, we need to take into account this feature of the data. Suppose that the univariate data set under analysis has missing observations. This paper examines the impact of selecting an auxiliary complete data set—whose underlying stochastic process is to some extent interdependent with the former—to improve the efficiency of the estimators for the relevant parameters of the model. The Vector AutoRegressive (VAR) Model has revealed to be an extremely useful tool in capturing the dynamics of bivariate time series. We propose maximum likelihood estimators for the parameters of the VAR(1) Model based on monotone missing data pattern. Estimators’ precision is also derived. Afterwards, we compare the bivariate modelling scheme with its univariate counterpart. More precisely, the univariate data set with missing observations will be modelled by an AutoRegressive Moving Average (ARMA(2,1)) Model. We will also analyse the behaviour of the AutoRegressive Model of order one, AR(1), due to its practical importance. We focus on the mean value of the main stochastic process. By simulation studies, we conclude that the estimator based on the VAR(1) Model is preferable to those derived from the univariate context.
