Introduction: Physical activity promotes cerebral blood flow during cognitive tasks and possibly enhances performance. It is relevant to find relationship between post exercise recovery heart rate (RHR) and resting pulse rate in medical students. Aims: To assess physical fitness in medical students. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 57 consenting healthy medical students, age 1730 years, underwent 3-Minutes Step Test to assess their physical fitness. Students were divided into four fitness groups based on RHR; good (n=9, RHR=50-84 bpm), satisfactory (n=17, RHR=88-100 bpm), poor (n=12, RHR=102-107 bpm), and very poor (n= 19, RHR=111-157 bpm) groups. The groups were compared using one-way ANOVA. A p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Results showed that there were few numbers of students who fall in good fitness group (n= 9, Resting pulse rate mean 72.00 ± 9.29) in comparison to satisfactory fitness group (n= 17, Resting pulse rate mean (68.35 ± 5.95), poor fitness group (n= 12, Resting pulse rate mean 75.67 ± 6.88) and very poor fitness group (n=19, Resting pulse rate mean 78.89 ± 7.67). The level of significance between satisfactory fitness group and very poor fitness group, p <0.05 was statistically significant. Conclusion: Most of the medical students fall under very poor fitness group. Satisfactory fitness group have less resting pulse rate in compare to very poor fitness group of medical students.

In this study, we aimed to identify the effect of preoperative information on postoperative anxiety among children undergoing one-day eye surgery. We utilized a nonequivalent control group and a pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design. The participants were 15 children in the experimental group and 15 children in the control group. Preoperative information was provided to the experimental group in the waiting room. Anxiety level was measured using the Children’s Emotional Manifestation Scale and pulse rate. For pulse rate, there were no statistically significant differences between the groups. In the behavioral anxiety response, there were statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups (Z = −4.15, p < 0.001). The results suggest that the provision of preoperative information can be an effective intervention for reducing postoperative anxiety and improving the health of children undergoing surgery.

Background Objectives: Haemodynamic changes are very crucial issues during regional anaesthesia. The purpose of the present study was to observe the immediate and late haemodynaemic effects after adding fentanyl to bupivacainelignocaine mixtures in supraclavicular brachial plexus block. Methodology: This randomized clinical study was conducted in the Department of Anesthesiology in Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) from March 2011 to May 2012 for a period of one year. All patients with the age group of 18 to 65 years who were selected for upper limb surgery distal to the mid arm were the study population. The random allocation of the patient was done into Group A patients (control group) who were received injection Bupivacaine (0.25%) with injection lignocaine A (1%) with injection Normal saline (0.9%). Group B patients (treatment group) were received injection bupivacaine (0.25%) with injection Ligonocaine A (1%) with injection fentanyl. With all aseptic precaution, supraclavicular brachial plexus block was done using paresthesia technique. Pulse and blood pressure were measured at baseline, intra-operatively and post-operatively. Result: A total of 60 patients were enrolled in this study with 30 patients in each group named group A and group B. The mean age of group A and group B were 32.43±12.25 and 34.90±13.05 respectively (p=0.453). The mean pulse rate of group A (79.53±5.03) and group B (78.10±4.26) at baseline level increased at the time of injection (88.30±5.77 and 85.63±4.87 respectively). At 8 hours interval mean pulse rate of group A was 86.47±5.51 compared to that of group B (86.07±3.08). The mean systolic blood pressure of group A (126.50±18.21) and group B (120.07±11.61) at baseline level increased at 0 minute at the time of injection (129.70±15.34 and 123.17±10.57 respectively). The mean diastolic blood pressure of group A (71.73±11.20) and group B (72.73±11.45) at baseline level increased at 0 minute (75.97±12.74 and 75.80±12.85 respectively). At 8 hrs interval mean diastolic pressure of group A was71.73 ±11.20 compared to that of group B (71.73±11.20). Conclusion: In conclusion there is no significant immediate or late haemodynaemic effects after adding fentanyl to bupivacaine-lignocaine mixtures in supraclavicular brachial plexus block. Kangaroo mother care is an apparatus that provides closed and controlled environmental for the preterm babies. A Preterm birth is commonly defined as any birth base 37 weeks completed weeks of gestation period. This paper deals with cost effective design of incubator that monitors parameters like pulse rate, temperature, humidity, child security and the readings will be continuously displayed In the LED screen and also monitoring the details to the corresponding doctor, nurse and parents by using GSM. The power failure problem is also eliminated by using solar panel. We also intimate the parents about feeding time, dressing time, ear check, eye check. But many of the existing system does not mentioned about above problem and have adopted only with humidity and temperature and also by manual control. So the main objective of this research is to overcome drawbacks and provide eco friendly service to all common people.

An 8-year-old girl was seen in our ophthalmology OPD who had come with complaints of mild pain in both eyes for 1 month. Her unaided vision in both eyes was 6/6. Her weight was 20 kg. Cyclopentolate 1% eye drops was administered twice to the child at 5 min interval in both eyes. The child became restless after 30 min of installation of eye drops installation. She started behaving abnormally and was not allowing to do retinoscopic examination. She had altered behavior, visual hallucination, and difficulty in walking. She was disoriented with slurred speech. She had ataxia and frequent tightening of limbs with jerky movements and was plucking her hair. Her pulse rate was 90/min and blood pressure was 120/90 mm of Hg. Her oxygen saturation was 94% in room air. The child was shifted to nearby hospital where a paediatrician and anesthesiologist were available and was kept under observation. Child’s pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation were monitored for the next 5 hours. The child recovered completely over the next 8 hours.
