Abstract Background Mastery of technical skills is one of the fundamental goals of surgical training for novices. Meanwhile, performing laparoscopic procedures requires exceptional surgical skills compared to open surgery. However, it is often difficult for trainees to learn through observation and practice only. Virtual reality (VR)-based surgical simulation is expanding and rapidly advancing. A major obstacle for laparoscopic trainees is the difficulty of well-performed dissection. Therefore, we developed a new VR simulation system, Lap-PASS LP-100, which focuses on training to create proper tension on the tissue in laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy dissection. This study aimed to validate this new VR simulation system. Methods A total of 50 participants were asked to perform medial dissection of the meso-sigmoid colon on the VR simulator. Forty-four surgeons and six non-medical professionals working in the National Cancer Center Hospital East, Japan, were enrolled in this study. The surgeons were: laparoscopic surgery experts with > 100 laparoscopic surgeries (LS), 21 were novices with experience < 100 LS, and five without previous experience in LS. The participants’ surgical performance was evaluated by three blinded raters using Global Operative Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills (GOALS). Results There were significant differences (P-values < 0.044) in all GOALS items between the non-medical professionals and surgeons. The experts were significantly superior to the novices in one item of GOALS: efficiency ([4(4–5) vs. 4(3–4)], with a 95% confidence interval, p = 0.042). However, both bimanual dexterity and total score in the experts were not statistically different but tended to be higher than in the novices. Conclusions Our study demonstrated a full validation of our new system. This could detect the surgeons' ability to perform surgical dissection and suggest that this VR simulator could be an effective training tool. This surgical VR simulator might have tremendous potential to enhance training for surgeons.

The data volume and computation task of MIMO radar is huge; a very high-speed computation is necessary for its real-time processing. In this paper, we mainly study the time division MIMO radar signal processing flow, propose an improved MIMO radar signal processing algorithm, raising the MIMO radar algorithm processing speed combined with the previous algorithms, and, on this basis, a parallel simulation system for the MIMO radar based on the CPU/GPU architecture is proposed. The outer layer of the framework is coarse-grained with OpenMP for acceleration on the CPU, and the inner layer of fine-grained data processing is accelerated on the GPU. Its performance is significantly faster than the serial computing equipment, and satisfactory acceleration effects have been achieved in the CPU/GPU architecture simulation. The experimental results show that the MIMO radar parallel simulation system with CPU/GPU architecture greatly improves the computing power of the CPU-based method. Compared with the serial sequential CPU method, GPU simulation achieves a speedup of 130 times. In addition, the MIMO radar signal processing parallel simulation system based on the CPU/GPU architecture has a performance improvement of 13%, compared to the GPU-only method.

AbstractThe previous chapters have described the mathematical principles and algorithms of multivariate statistical methods, as well as the monitoring processes when used for fault diagnosis. In order to validate the effectiveness of data-driven multivariate statistical analysis methods in the field of fault diagnosis, it is necessary to conduct the corresponding fault monitoring experiments. Therefore this chapter introduces two kinds of simulation platform, Tennessee Eastman (TE) process simulation system and fed-batch Penicillin Fermentation Process simulation system. They are widely used as test platforms for the process monitoring, fault classification, and identification of industrial process. The related experiments based on PCA, CCA, PLS, and FDA are completed on the TE simulation platforms.

Abstract With the rapid development of network technology, the traditional teaching methods can not adapt to the teaching objectives of colleges. VR has become a basic teaching tool in Colleges, which can help teachers complete teaching. At the same time, VR can improve students’ interest in learning, which can help students explore more subject knowledge. Mechanical specialty is an important subject, which requires simulation and other learning. At present, there are many kinds of software in the world, which can carry out mechanical simulation, such as SolidWorks, 3DMAX, flash and so on. Through the relevant software, colleges can design the mechanical simulation system, which can help to set up the whole process resource library in a certain field. Through the resource library, colleges can help to complete the three-dimensional entity display of equipment, which can be displayed in an all-round way. Through VR, we can help students understand the real work scene, which can help improve the students’ mechanical design ability. At the same time, through computer VR, colleges can help students learn more about the working scene of mechanical design. Firstly, this paper analyzes the importance of mechanical simulation system design. Then, this paper designs the related system content. Finally, some suggestions are put forward.

The maintenance of oil pumps is a complex task for any operating organization, and for an industrial enterprise in the oil and gas sector of the economy, this issue has a high degree of urgency. One of the reasons for this is a wide spread of pumping equipment in all areas of oil and gas enterprises. At the same time, an aggressive environment, uneven load, remote facilities, and harsh climatic zones (especially in the areas of the Arctic region or production platforms) are factors that make it relevant to develop special systems that help or simplify the maintenance of pumping equipment. Dynamic modeling is one of the modern technologies which allows for solving the urgent issue of assessing the technical condition of equipment. It is the basis of systems that carry out diagnostics and prognostic calculations and allow for assessing the dynamic state of objects under various conditions of their operation, among other functions. Augmented reality technology is a technology that allows for reducing the time for equipment maintenance by reducing the time for searching and processing various information required in the maintenance process. This paper presents an investigation of the effectiveness of an augmented reality and a dynamic simulation system collaboration in oil pump maintenance. Since there is insufficient research on the joint application of these two technologies, the urgent issue is to prove the effectiveness of such collaboration. For this purpose, this paper provides a description of the system structure, gives a description of the development process of the augmented reality system application and tests the application using Microsoft HoloLens 2.

Abstract Water resources allocation is an important technical tool to alleviate the conflict between water supply and demand, improve the water resources utilization efficiency, and achieve the control target of total water resources utilization. However, the current water resources allocation theory is immature, and there are few objective and quantitative allocation methods, which leads to the relatively backward allocation practice. Moreover, the amounts of allocable water resources change dynamically, which makes the static and single traditional allocation scheme difficult to adapt to changes. To address the above issues, this research comprehensively integrated multiple types of allocation models to build a multi-method integrated simulation system for water resources allocation. The results show that the system supports visually generated schemes and dynamically simulates water resources allocation. The application of the simulation system enhances the reliability of results. And the dynamic adaptability of allocation results supports allocation decisions.
