The present research is a Critical Discourse Analysis of single postcolonial text The River Between by Ngugi (1965). It focuses to explore the discursive techniques employed in the selected text to propagate the concept of gendered Othering. Aim of the researcher is to find how the colonizers other the Kenyans by presenting their stereotypical representations in their discourse and how Ngugi unmasks the Whiteman’s self constructed ideologies about them. The researcher employs Van Dijk’s (2004) analytical model to decode the text critically at words, phrases, sentences and discourse levels. The analytical devices adopted for the present research from this model are:' Actor description', 'categorization', ‘lexicalization', 'authority', ‘polarization' and ‘metaphor'. Further linguistic devices included in the model are: ‘repetition’ and ‘Absolute Term’. All these discursive techniques have been employed to decode the randomly selected data from the given text. The findings show that the theme of gendered othering is very dominant in the selected text and all the mentioned analytical devices have been frequently employed in the selected text to propagate the ideological representations of culture, gender and race.

Abstract This paper examines the effect of mobile number portability (MNP) on own- and cross-price elasticities. We use quarterly data for 27 mobile operators in seven Sub-Saharan Africa countries between 2010Q4 and 2014Q4 to estimate a differentiated products demand model. We find that the implementation of MNP increases price elasticities of demand for mobile services. This increase in price elasticities may be a result of reduction in switching costs between operators. On average, the introduction of MNP increases own-price elasticities by 0.47 in absolute value. We compare the level of price elasticities before and after the implementation of MNP in Ghana and Kenya, which implemented this policy in the time period of our study. Our results suggest that in Ghana, MNP increased own-price elasticities by an average of 0.35 in absolute term from an average of −0.74. In Kenya, the introduction of MNP increased own-price elasticities by an average of 0.21 in absolute term from a lower average of −0.39. However, we find that the average own-price elasticities in Kenya and Ghana remained small even after the implementation of MNP relative to other countries without MNP in place.

India is currently trying hard to get a status of $5.0 trillion economy. Agriculture contributes $400 billion to the Indian economy, which is 2nd after China. To achieve this mammoth national target, allsectors of economy viz., agriculture, industry and service have to outperform outstanding. To achieve this target, our total export should be of $1.0 trillion annually and share of agriculture and the allied sector should be 10 %.To achieve $100 million agri-export, smart agriculture is pivotal to sustain our products at international level. Agritech startup can play a vital role in this endeavour; however, the bottleneck should be removedwithin the least possible time. If we succeed in this endeavour, this will not only lead to enhance per capita income from the current $1800 to $3600 but also double the income from farming systematically. Unfortunately, due to worldwide attack of global pandemic of Covid- 2019 disease, every sphere of life has been severely paralysed. Agriculture sector was less affected as the food grain output was recorded highest ever (295.67MT) and sector growth 3.7 % in absolute term and 11.3% on the current price, during 2019-20. India will get rid off of such disasters relativelyfaster as compared to other nations, but this has the potential to push forward our economic dream to beam reality atleast for a year or so.Probably India would be able to achieve the tag of $5.0 trillion economy not sooner than 2026-27.

Chapter 9 addresses noetic contemplation through Coleridge’s higher logic, or rather ‘Noetic’, of the ‘tetrad’, relating absolutes (the Trinity, reality, being, the good, etc.), and his pentad, relating non-absolutes (human institutions, natural powers, and phenomena). Section 9.1 argues that these forms ‘tautegorically’ represent Coleridge’s metaphysics and compares these forms to C. S. Peirce’s ‘abductive’ logic. Section 9.2 discusses Coleridge’s historical sources, mainly Schelling and other Naturphilosophen. Section 9.3 argues that Coleridge crucially differs from Schelling here with a divergent conception of the indifference-point, or Coleridgean mesothesis, and its relation to the Absolute. Section 9.4 illuminates Coleridge’s neglected distinction between his tetracti, which are always and entirely noetic, constellating absolutes (ideas or powers), and his pentads, which are either noetic, containing an absolute term, or logical, constellating only non-absolutes. Section 9.5 pauses for transitional remarks before the pentads are interpreted in Chapter 10 with respect to the humane value of contemplation and the realization of ideas.

Self is a fluid construct. Its construction and representation vary according to different contexts and other variables. Female self-construction and representation is a crucial domain which is affected by many social factors. The present research deals with construction and representation of self. The data for the present research has been collected from the 4 colleges, 2 belonging to urban area and 2 of peripheries. The participants of the research are girls of 1st year and 4th year. The present research analyses the construction and representation of self as a result of formal literacy. It also considers how formal literacy plays a role in the construction and representation of self. For the present research, the researchers have collected the data from the mentioned 4 colleges. The participants of the research are 200 female students, including 100 from 1st year and 100 from 4th year. The present research employs an amended model to analyze the data. The amended model consists of Fairclough's (2012) critical social analysis, Gee's (1999) cultural model of discourse and Street's (1984) ideological model of literacy. The data has been analyzed keeping into mind the 9 analytical devices i.e. implicature, identity, metaphor, comparisons, representations, back grounding, inclusion/exclusion, dialogically and difference. Moreover, the researchers have categorized the data into the dominant emerging themes, which have been classified and analyzed under separate headings, these dominant emerging themes are, religiosity, family background, identity (naming), desires and self, self through lexicalization, roles and relationships, conceptual metaphors and use of 1st person pronoun (I/we). The data has been analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the analysis of data the findings of the research suggest that self is not an absolute term, its construction and representation keeps on changing because of different variables, one of them is formal literacy. Moreover, the study contends that   construction and representation of self is an ever-ongoing process.

Meaning concepts is always being an interesting topic in linguistics especially about antonymy. Antonymy is not only found in absolute term but also in other ones. This research then tried to discuss antonymy in Bahasa Indonesia particularly in military terms, time and taste terms. The method used was Relation by Contrast-Lexical Contrast (RC-LC). Furthermore, as the result it was found that antonymy had some variants such as: non binary antonymy, contrastive antonymy, and gradation antonymy.
