AbstractLight emissions and Schlieren structures were simultaneously observed from streamers produced by tens of kilovolts 1.2/50 μs impulses, representing the high voltage component of lightning, applied across a 4 cm air gap between a variety of electrode geometries and a ground plane in an unconfined environment. The results demonstrated that the light emissions and Schlieren structures coincide along the same streamer filaments but on different timescales; the light existing only during the microsecond timeframe impulse whereas the Schlieren continued to develop into the millisecond timeframe, moving towards the centre of the air gap whilst diffusing into the surrounding air within 100 ms. If an electrical breakdown did occur, the Schlieren structures outside the arc remained visible. Streamer formation theory for high voltage impulses is subsequently refined to include the observed Schlieren mechanism.

Abstract The dominant theoretical approach to exploring ethnic and racial inequality in marketing and consumer research focuses on discrete acts of discrimination that stem from social psychological causes (e.g., prejudice, stereotypes, and negative racial attitudes). It holds limited explanatory power for meso- and macro-structural phenomena that also generate racialized outcomes. An implication is that ethnic and racial inequality can be portrayed as something imposed on market systems rather than a routine feature of their functioning. In response, I introduce and synthesize two variants of Racial Formation Theory (RFT) and propose it as a useful theoretical approach for addressing whether and how organizational and institutional actors in market systems engage in goal-directed action that allocates resources in ways that challenge (or reinforce) ethnic and racial oppression.

Recently, many Nobel Prizes in Physics have been awarded in the field of astrophysics. Gravitational wave observations and contributions to LIGO in 2017, cosmology and exoplanets in 2019, and black hole formation theory and discovery of a supermassive black hole in 2020. Surprisingly, that these topics, which are somewhat distant from our daily life, have great physical significance and are being actively studied worldwide. We invited young astrophysicists at the forefront of astrophysic research to share their thoughts on astrophysics. That conversation took place online on June 2, 2021.

Double Consonant writing in Japanese marked by Hiragana or Katakana written (?/?). Sokuon has been used many in daily comic conversation to emphazise or strengthen the speech. As the consequence, the outcome of Japanese written becomes unstandard since there is morphologically change. That is why a research has been done using comic titled Crows volume 1 by Takahashi Hiroshi to represent Japanese Comic that generally has the same sokuon written structure in daily conversation. Analysis result shows there is 1 sokuon written in the beginning, 7 sokuons in the middle, and there area 17 sokuons in the end, also there area 16 sokuons in between 2 words. Those data has been analyzed using The Prominen Theory and The Shukuyaku-kei Formation Theory. Future expectation is to expand this research through other aspect of speech that use sokuon seen from the context and function aspect. Keywords: Double Consonant, Sokuon, Daily Language Communication, Comic.

Fashion brands continue to diversify their product lines into other markets, including beauty, homegoods, interiors, and architecture. Using symbolic preference formation theory, this study analyzed several successful fashion lifestyle brands’ visuals in order to identify required elements of cohesive branding systems, starting with Paul Poiret and Jeanne Lanvin, leading up to Diane von Furstenberg (DVF), Marchesa, and Ralph Lauren. Consumers express their personal identity through apparel and home décor, and brand visuals are created to influence purchasing decisions by depicting products as fitting with a desired lifestyle. Case studies focused on how fashion brands have evolved to represent lifestyle and examined the role visuals play in defining a distinctive, cohesive identity across a constellation of products. The research utilized two types of secondary sources: printed and digital. Media such as advertisements, websites, packaging were examined in order to compare product categories, theme, motif, style and colour use in order to create guidelines for creative brand visuals.
