Cement mortar composite has a wide range of applications on construction sites, including masonry, plastering and concrete repair. In construction sites, scabbling process is a method to remove from a few millimeters to several centimeters of defect concrete surfaces. As a result, it is essential to investigate the scabbling characteristics for cement mortar with different silica sand proportion in laser scabbling process. In this study, 5 types of cement mortar with different silica sand proportions in mixing were fabricated and scabbled by using a high-density power laser beam. The effects of silica sand proportion in color changing and penetration depth of the samples after laser scabbling process were studied. Furthermore, the generation of micro-cracks and pores were observed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, chemical composition changes between processed zone and non-processed zone were also evaluated by Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable knowledge in understanding of the laser scabbling process for cement-based materials.

In recent years, as structures become higher, larger, and more durable concrete whose compressive strength of the concrete is 150 N/mm 2 or more have been put to practical use. It is for this reason that it is necessary to develop strengthening materials with equal or better performance. Furthermore, the development of high-performance concrete repair materials is carried out because demand to seismic strengthening and repair increases. In this study, considering these circumstances, it was conducted an experimental study with the aim of developing a repair material using room temperature curing UFC (R-UFC). A binder composition preparation of the R-UFC has excellent fluidity under pressure. It was achieved that high-grade thixotropy, high compressive strength, and high bending strength. It can also be sprayed continuously because of its high thixtoropy. It was confirmed that the sprayed thickness was reached to 20mm by one work. Durability of this R-UFC was investigated and it was confirmed the high sulfate resistance, small drying shrinkage and low salt permeability.

Microwave curing of repair patches provides an energy efficient technique for rapid concrete repair. It has serious economic potential due to time and energy saving especially for repairs in cold weather which can cause work stoppages. However, the high temperatures resulting from the combination of microwave exposure and accelerated hydration of cementitious repair materials need to be investigated to prevent potential durability problems in concrete patch repairs. This paper investigates the time and magnitude of the peak hydration temperature during microwave curing (MC) of six cement based concrete repair materials and a CEM II mortar. Repair material specimens were microwave cured to a surface temperature of 40-45 °C while their internal and surface temperatures were monitored. Their internal temperature was further monitored up to 24 hours in order to determine the effect of microwave curing on the heat of hydration. The results show that a short period of early age microwave curing increases the hydration temperature and brings forward the peak heat of hydration time relative to the control specimens which are continuously exposed to ambient conditions (20 °C, 60% RH). The peak heat of hydration of normal density, rapid hardening Portland cement based repair materials with either pfa or polymer addition almost merges with the end of microwave curing period. Similarly, lightweight polymer modified repair materials also develop heat of hydration rapidly which almost merges with the end of microwave curing period. The peak heat of hydration of normal density ordinary Portland cement based repair materials, with and without polymer addition, occurs during the post microwave curing period. The sum of the microwave curing and heat of hydration temperatures can easily exceed the limit of about 70 °C in some materials at very early age, which can cause durability problems.

It is the key to the concrete repair and strengthening construction that the base concrete has a certain quality and strength. Based on the strengthening mechanism of sodium silicate, the sodium silicate was modified to develop a kind of compound strengthening liquid. Through the contrast test results of concrete impregnation. The strength of C5 concrete before and after strengthening is increased by 42.5%, while the strength of C10 concrete is increased by 21.4%, and the strength of C15 concrete is increased by 10%.
