In this work, we study the L2-boundedness and L2-compactness of a class of h-Fourier integral operators with the complex phase. These operators are bounded (respectively compact) if the weight of the amplitude is bounded (respectively tends to 0).

Abstract As an indispensable complement to an integer vortex beam, the fractional vortex beam has unique physical properties such as radially notched intensity distribution, complex phase structure consisting of alternating charge vortex chains, and more sophisticated orbital angular momentum modulation dimension. In recent years, we have noticed that the fractional vortex beam was widely used for complex micro-particle manipulation in optical tweezers, improving communication capacity, controllable edge enhancement of image and quantum entanglement. Moreover, this has stimulated extensive research interest, including the deep digging of the phenomenon and physics based on different advanced beam sources and has led to a new research boom in micro/nano-optical devices. Here, we review the recent advances leading to theoretical models, propagation, generation, measurement, and applications of fractional vortex beams and consider the possible directions and challenges in the future.

Abstract Empty liquids represent a wide class of materials whose constituents arrange in a random network through reversible bonds. Many key insights on the physical properties of empty liquids have originated almost independently from the study of colloidal patchy particles on one side, and a large body of theoretical and experimental research on water on the other side. Patchy particles represent a family of coarse-grained potentials that allows for a precise control of both the geometric and the energetic aspects of bonding, while water has arguably the most complex phase diagram of any pure substance, and a puzzling amorphous phase behavior. It was only recently that the exchange of ideas from both fields has made it possible to solve long-standing problems and shed new light on the behavior of empty liquids. Here we highlight the connections between patchy particles and water, focusing on the modelling principles that make an empty liquid behave like water, including the factors that control the appearance of thermodynamic and dynamic anomalies, the possibility of liquid-liquid phase transitions, and the crystallization of open crystalline structures.

In this paper, a metamaterial-inspired flat beamsteering antenna for 5G applications is presented. The antenna, designed to operate in the 3.6 GHz at 5G frequency bands, presents an unique flat form factor which allows easy deployment and low visual impact in 5G dense scenarios. The antenna presents a multi-layer structure where a metamaterial inspired transmitarray enables the two-dimensional (2D) beamsteering, and an array of microstrip patch antennas is used as RF source. The use of metamaterials in antenna beamsteering allows the reduction of costly and complex phase-shifter networks by using discrete capacitor diodes to control the transmission phase-shifting and subsequently, the direction of the steering. According to simulations, the proposed antenna presents steering range up to ±20∘, achievable in both elevation and azimuth planes, independently. To prove the concept, a prototype of the antenna has been built and experimentally characterised inside an anechoic chamber. Although constructed in a different substrate (FR4 substrate) as initially designed, beamsteering ranges up to 8∘ in azimuth and 13∘ in elevation, limited to the proposed case-studies, are reported with the prototype, validating the antenna and the usefulness of the proposed design.

Abstract This paper proposes a comprehensive fishing strategy that takes into consideration the population density of fish and its current growth rate, which provides new ideas for fishing strategies. Firstly, we establish a phytoplankton-fish model with the impulsive feedback control depending on the density and rate of change of the fish. Secondly, the complex phase and impulse sets of this model are divided into three cases, then the Poincar´e map for the model is defined, and analyzed the properties of Poincar´e map. In addition, the sufficient and necessary conditions for the global asymptotic stability of the order-1 periodic solution and existence condition of order- k ( k ≥ 2) periodic solution are discussed. The action threshold depends on the density and rate of change of the fish, which is reasonable than earlier studies. The analysis method proposed in this paper also plays an important role in the analysis of impulse models with complex phase sets or impulse sets.

We study a quantum trimer of coupled two-level systems beyond the single-excitation sector, where the coherent coupling constants are ornamented by a complex phase. Accounting for losses and gain in an open quantum systems approach, we show how the mean populations of the states in the system crucially depend on the accumulated phase in the trimer. Namely, for non-trivial accumulated phases, the population dynamics and the steady states display remarkable non-reciprocal behaviour in both the singly and doubly excited manifolds. Furthermore, while the directionality of the resultant chiral current is primarily determined by the accumulated phase in the loop, the sign of the flow may also change depending on the coupling strength and the amount of gain in the system. This directionality paves the way for experimental studies of chiral currents at the nanoscale, where the phases of the complex hopping parameters are modulated by magnetic or synthetic magnetic fields.

Phase separation is widely observed in multiphase systems. In this study, it has been investigated using Shan–Chen lattice Boltzmann method. The adhesion parameter in SC model leads to the desired fluid–fluid phenomenon, which was varied to specify the strength of separation between two phases to present emulsified performance in oil production. In order to describe such behaviors quantitatively, graphical distributions were described with time and were corresponded with a statistical index–Fourier structure factor that is able to predict complex phase separation behaviors, thereby providing a measurement for calculating such random distribution during the process of separation as well as evaluating heterogeneous degrees of the entire domain. The repulsive interactions are specified as low, intermediate, and high values. Phase separations with clear boundaries have been observed and each stage of separation evolvement has been discussed in this study. Magnitudes of structure factors are increased with higher degrees of fluctuations.

In recent work, P2/P3-NaNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 (NaNMC) was obtained by the sol-gel process followed by calcination of the precursor at 900°C for 12 h. The electrochemical properties of NaNMC were investigated in the voltage range of 2.0–4.0 V. The material exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 107 mAh·g−1 and good capacity retention of 82.2% after 100 cycles. Ex situ XRD performance showed that the P3-phase transformed from the P3- to O1-phase and vice versa, while the P2-phase remained stable during the sodium intercalation. The kinetic of sodium intercalation of NaNMC upon reversible Na+ insertion/deinsertion was evaluated via a Galvanostatic Intermittence Titration Technique (GITT) and Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The diffusion coefficients of Na+ ion deduced from the GITT curve have a broad distribution ranging from 10−10 to 10−11 cm2·s−1 for the charging/discharging process. Besides, the evolution of diffusion coefficient and charge transfer resistance is consistent with the complex phase transition generally observed in sodium layered oxides.
