In this paper, a two-dimensional axisymmetric thermal stress coupling model of mechanical seal’s rotator and stator components was established by ADINA, simplification and appropriate boundary constrained condition of stator and rotator was obtained by analyzing the contact state among the seal rings. It’s shown that the contact surface is equivalent to a resource of constant thermal, temperature of contact surface rises step by step and the location of the maximum temperature getting close to the midpoint within the contact surface according to the sliding time, the temperature gradient decrease along the worksheet so that the temperature decrease accordingly in a parabolic isogram.

The initial cooling temperature has important effect on the bending change and section size of rolled heavy rail, when rolled heavy rail is on the cooling bed for natural cooling. In the paper, the heat-stress couple method is adopted to carry on numerical simulation to cooling process of 60kg/m U75V heavy rail, and we has obtained the bending change value and section size of rolled heavy rail in different initial cooling temperature. The study is of great reference value on the design of cooling bed which is for hundred-meter high speed heavy rail and the formulation of cooling technological parameters.

This paper is concerned with the determination of displacement and strain fields within the interfacial region of a bimaterial specimen under shear loading. The analysis is based on the couple stress theory. The measurements are made by means of phase shift moiré interferometry which has been recognized as a useful measuring method by combining moiré interferometry with the phase shift technique and image processing. The results obtained by phase shift moiré interferometry show that the distribution of the shear strain, rotation angle and rotation gradient at the interface region are changing rapidly. The results show good agreement with those predicted by stress couple theory.

A study is made of Lamb's plane problem in micropolar viscoelastic half-space with stretch. The viscoelasticity is characterized by the rate-dependent theories of micro-viscoelasticity generalizing the classical Kelvin-Voigt theory. The displacement components, force stress, couple stress and vector first moment are obtained for a half-space subjected to an arbitrary normal load. Two particular cases of a horizontal force and a torque which are time harmonic have been considered. Several limiting cases are obtained as special cases of the present analysis.

A study is made of the Lamb plane problem in a thermo-elastic micropolar medium with the effect of stretch. The problem is solved for an arbitrary, normal load distribution by using the double Fourier transform. The displacement components, force stress, couple stress, vector first moment and the temperature field are determined for a half space subjected to an arbitrary normal load. Two special cases of a horizontal force and a torque which are oscillating with a frequencyωhave been investigated. It is shown that results of this analysis reduce to those without stretch.

A general theoretical solution is obtained for the problem of a large thin isotropic plate bent or twisted by couples at infinity, and containing a hole of fairly general shape. Certain known results for circular and elliptical boundaries are included in this general solution as special cases. Numerical values of the stress couple round the edge of a square hole with rounded comers are given when the plate is bent by all-round couples, or twisted or bent cylindrically about the diagonals or sides of the square. Results are also given for a triangular hole with rounded corners in a plate subject to the action of similar distributions of stress -couple at infinity.
