There are no theoretical studies in regional science that examine which region to locate in from the standpoint of a creative class member, given that the pertinent regional authorities (RAs) are competing among themselves to attract the creative class using subsidies. This gap provides the motivation for our paper. This paper’s contribution is that it is the first to theoretically study the regional location choice of creative class members when the RAs of the locations in which they might locate are using subsidies to attract them. Specifically, a knowledge good producing creative class member must decide which of two regions ( A or B) to locate his plant in. This good is produced using a Cobb–Douglas function with creative and physical capital. We analyze plant location in four cases. In the benchmark case, we show that the representative creative class member ought to locate his plant in the less expensive region B. Next, we show that a small subsidy to creative capital by region A switches the plant location decision from region B to A. Finally, when both regions grant identical subsidies to creative capital, the representative creative class member is indifferent between locating in regions A and B. So, for identical subsidies to affect the plant location decision, they are better targeted to physical and not to creative capital. JEL Codes: R11, R58

The paper investigates a possibility of developing a non-virtual hierarchy for a special case of class signature, which may possess different interpretations. The approach is similar to double dispatching in the C ++ programming language. As an alternative to polymorphism, a non-polymorphic hierarchy has been suggested based on generic programming templates. This hierarchy is based on inverse parametrization for templates enabling constructing a general scheme for the design pattern. The pattern defined a class architecture suitable for static implementation of double dispatched multimethod for a special case of signature- defined interfaces.In fact, any abstract base class (interface) with purely virtual operations must acquire a polymorphic implementation. Besides, the polymorphism itself, the dependence of a virtual function on two objects – “this” and another parameter – requires the use of double dispatch, turning a class member function into a double dispatched multimethod.A preliminary consideration deals with issues of double dispatching in the C++ programming language. Inheritance with polymorphic class member functions is used. This requires special efforts of adding to both bases and derived classes a couple of virtual functions to support dispatching. In any case, this approach, besides using virtual functions, has a disadvantage of violating one of the SOLID principles, namely the principle of dependency inversion: base classes should not depend on derivatives, which negatively affects the quality of the software.Polymorphism is usually understood as the dynamic tuning of a program to the data type of the object that the program will encounter during its execution. That is, by its nature, polymorphism is a purely dynamic characteristic. However, in C++ literature and in practice, you can come across the term “static polymorphism”.At the same time, research of possibilities of generalized programming (templates) allows transferring some dynamic problems to the static level. In particular, a variant of static polymorphism application without virtual functions can be considered.A variant of non-virtual double scheduling has been proposed, generalized in the form of a created design pattern “Signature multimethod”. The use of the newly created pattern is illustrated with an example of implementing classes of complex numbers. The absence of violations of SOLID principles is shown, and the possibility of supplementing the hierarchy with new derived classes without the need to interfere with the structure of the base class is demonstrated.The approach suggested in this work has been used in courses in object-oriented programming at the Faculty of Informatics of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

The individual's capacity to be effective in life is determined by his reasoning abilities, especially with the ultimate goal of overcoming life's problems. Basic reasoning is a clear and coordinated cycle of reasoning used in critical, dynamic thinking, investigating and leading logical examinations. This research aims to determine the critical thinking abilities of students at SMAN 4 Padang on Environmental Pollution Material. This type of research is descriptive, the sample is determined by proportional random sampling. The sample size was 125 students from 50% of each class member who were taken randomly. Students' critical thinking tests are analyzed per indicator consisting of: Analysis, Evaluation, Deductive and Inductive. Based on the results of the critical thinking analysis of students at SMAN 4 Padang, the average percentage was 71.99% in the high category. Almost any part of the upper level character can be balanced in the student, so that one can make tentative decisions.

This paper provides an analysis of the relationship of dominance and resistance in the novel High Fidelity. The aim of the paper is to identify the elements of popular culture in the novel and thus determine the nature of possible relationships in a patriarchal, capitalist society. The theoretical framework used in the paper is Fiske’s theory of popular culture (2001) and the analysis is based on regarding the characters as representatives of dominant and resistant forces. Men and the upper class constitute categories which are dominant in the relationship with subordinate ones – women and the lower class. In addition, the protagonist Rob is the prototype of a man who is subordinate to himself, i.e. to his representation of ideal male traits he lacks, according to his own beliefs. The subordinate put up resistance in different ways. Laura is a successful business woman who possesses a strong character, which places her into a better position than that of Rob. The protagonist uses music as one of the ways to express his resistance. As a lower class member (i.e. a poor entrepreneur), the protagonist opposes upper class members (wealthy entrepreneurs) in that he possesses moral principles which they often lack.

We study the decision problems faced by a city authority (CA) who focuses on two different objectives in her attempt to attract members of the creative class to her city by providing a local public good (LPG). First, we compute the maximum tax that a creative class member is willing to pay to enjoy the LPG on offer by living in the CA’s city. Second, assuming that the CA acts like a “monopolist” interested in maximizing the total benefit to her city, we determine the number of members N to attract to her city and the amount of the LPG L to provide so that the total benefit is maximized. Third, supposing that the CA maximizes the welfare of an individual member, we ascertain the values of N and L that maximize this individual welfare. Finally, we compare and contrast the outcomes that arise from the CA’s focus on these two distinct objectives.

The competition for jobs in big cities tends to be tougher for the members of groups that are marginalized and socially stigmatized. As a consequence, alternative cultures and vocations emerge. An example of this is the role of professional dominatrix in the kink or alternative sexuality subculture. Using interpretive analysis method, this article studies youth with other marginal identities—namely ‘woman’, ‘homosexual’, and ‘working-class member’ — in regards to their choice to pursue their career in kink subculture as a professional dominatrix in Netflix’s show Bonding. The findings of this research are as follows: The legitimation of alternative sexuality industry as a metropolitan subculture; young people choose to pursue a career, especially in subcultural industry, as a platform as well as motivation for self-actualization, and; jobs in sex and alternative sexuality industry are taken by marginalized young people as an effort to make a living in a big city.

The article is concerned with educating the concepts “proper name * toponym + anthroponym” linguocultural category and summarizing the analysis with regard to cognitive perception of Nakh-Dagestanian languages. If we consider the interpretation of the terms “proper name * toponym + anthroponym” from viewpoint of cognitive perception, then the world picture as a linguocultural category actualizes the concept “nature ↔ toponym + color ↔ anthroponym + color”. This procedure for analyzing the terms in the conceptualization of the Nakh-Dagestanian languages makes it possible to adjust the interpretation of the Russian language “Concept “nature” ↔ color + toponym ↕ color + anthroponym”. An analysis of the material shows that the interpretation of the terms with the designation of the concept “nature” differs in hierarchical types of asymmetry of the Nakh-Dagestanian languages of ordered types “class ↔ class member”, and the degree of influence of the scientific world picture on the meaning of the everyday picture of the region is usually structured by the analysis of translation into the Russian language.

Abstrak Sebagian besar lembaga pelatihan atau balai latihan kerja menggunakan penjadwalan dengan model batch, yang artinya sebuah jadwal digunakan bersama-sama untuk sekelompok orang, tanpa melihat karakteristik masing-masing peserta pelatihan atau ketersediaan waktu mereka. Namun penjadwalan model batch seperti itu belum tentu efektif untuk setiap orang dan belum sesuai dengan prinsip student center learning. Tulisan ini menawarkan alternatif solusi bagi lembaga pelatihan atau balai latihan kerja yang memerlukan penjadwalan dengan keragaman materi pelatihan dan ketersediaan waktu setiap peserta yang berbeda-beda. Solusi berupa pembuatan perangkat lunak aplikasi penjadwalan dengan arsitektur model-view-controller. Perangkat lunak yang dibuat mampu menjadwalkan lebih dari 300 peserta pelatihan dengan jumlah instruktur lebih dari 14 orang dan materi pelatihan berjumlah lebih dari 18 macam dengan tingkat kedalaman yang beragam.Kata Kunci : penjadwalan pelatihan, slot waktu dan materi berbeda-beda  Abstract It is common for training institutions or vocational training centers using batch scheduling model, which means that a timetable be used together for a group of people, regardless of their individual needs or their time availabilities. Scheduling in batch model like that was not necessarily effective for every class member and not in accordance with the principle of student center learning. This paper offers an alternative scheduling solution for training institutions or vocational training centers that each participant has special needs in timetable, course interest, and course level. Our solution was implemented by model-view-controller architecture. The software could be used to schedule of more than 300 trainees with more than 14 instructors and more than 18 kinds of training materials.    Keyword : training scheduling, different timetables and course material
