Abstract This paper presents two public-key cryptosystems based on the so-called expanded Gabidulin codes, which are constructed by expanding Gabidulin codes over the base field. Exploiting the fast decoder of Gabidulin codes, we propose an efficient algorithm to decode these new codes when the noise vector satisfies a certain condition. Additionally, these new codes have an excellent error-correcting capability because of the optimality of their parent Gabidulin codes. Based on different masking techniques, we give two encryption schemes by using expanded Gabidulin codes in the McEliece setting. According to our analysis, these two cryptosystems can both resist the existing structural attacks. Furthermore, our proposals also have an obvious advantage in public-key representation without using the cyclic or quasi-cyclic structure compared to some other code-based cryptosystems. To achieve the security of 256 bits, for instance, a public-key size of 37005 bytes is enough for our first proposal, while around 1044992 bytes are needed for Classic McEliece selected as a candidate of the third round of the NIST PQC project.

Abstract The aim of the presented paper is to examine the specific situation in the institutional provision of tourism in Slovakia with special regard to the most important and in the crisis period the most vulnerable tourism regions, their identification is a partial goal of the paper. With regard to the current crisis period, the survey is supplemented by identifying factors of employment change, focusing mainly on the region’s competitiveness in tourism. The importance of regions is assessed in the article on the basis of potential for tourism development, further in terms of their importance for tourism in Slovakia based on tourism performance expressed by the number of overnight stays and on the basis of industry concentration of tourism measured by employment in tourism. We consider the most vulnerable regions to be those that reach the level of specialization in tourism (based on the localization coefficient) and it has a growing tendency. The research results show that the importance of regional competitiveness in tourism for employment change (which is a regional component) is very different despite the established destination management, it is even negative, and in the case of positive figures, it is without an obvious advantage over other factors analyzed in the shift-share analysis. Also, it is possible that the current crisis period caused by measures in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic will help to find endogenous solutions to fragmented destination management in the most important and vulnerable tourism regions, or legislative solutions related to the amendment to the Tourism Promotion Act.

This article conducts user evaluation to study the performance difference between interactive and automatic search. Particularly, the study aims to provide empirical insights of how the performance landscape of video search changes, with tens of thousands of concept detectors freely available to exploit for query formulation. We compare three types of search modes: free-to-play (i.e., search from scratch), non-free-to-play (i.e., search by inspecting results provided by automatic search), and automatic search including concept-free and concept-based retrieval paradigms. The study involves a total of 40 participants; each performs interactive search over 15 queries of various difficulty levels using two search modes on the IACC.3 dataset provided by TRECVid organizers. The study suggests that the performance of automatic search is still far behind interactive search. Furthermore, providing users with the result of automatic search for exploration does not show obvious advantage over asking users to search from scratch. The study also analyzes user behavior to reveal insights of how users compose queries, browse results, and discover new query terms for search, which can serve as guideline for future research of both interactive and automatic search.

AbstractCombining unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with 6G, Internet of Things (IoT) and other emerging communication technologies could better satisfy various IoT applications and create more innovative services. This paper develops a novel hierarchical 6G IoT network with UAVs in the sky and intelligent reflective surface (IRS) equipped. The system employs backscattering communication (BackCom) to transmit data in a free-ride manner. Through beamforming, IRS enhances the energy of the reflectable signal, thereby improving the distance and performance of the BackCom. Simulation results reveal that our approach makes a significant improvement to the performance of the whole system and takes obvious advantage over traditional solutions.

The development of ways to create a solid base for laying the track structure becomes especially relevant in conditions of the heavy-train traffic. This work presents feasibility studies of using a cold regeneration soil method for strengthening the main subgrade site. The advantages of this method are identified by the creation of models of production processes for soil-cement layers of various thickness. The main performance indicators are analyzed and compared with similar indicators of the most used engineering solutions for strengthening the subgrade working area: soft soil replacing and creation of a protective layer from a rubble-sand-gravel mixture reinforced with a geocell. The obtained results allow determining the following parameters: the number of employees, length of employment, outputs, productivity, labor costs, wages, costs of machine and mechanism operation, materials and works.Based on the results, a conclusion is made that there is an obvious advantage of the cold regeneration soil method for all parameters.

Synovial tissue can be safely and reliably collected for research and clinical purposes using arthroscopy. This technique offers the obvious advantage of allowing direct visualization, and targeted biopsy of specific areas of interest within the joint, as well as for the collection of tissue which will include a lining layer. Much has been learnt by studying the synovium retrieved using this technique concerning the pathobiology of inflammatory arthritis. Furthermore, recent evidence suggests that the tissue retrieved may enable the identification of unique pathotypes that will allow for a precise approach to treatment selection in individual patients. Although ultrasound guided techniques for sampling synovial tissue have gained in popularity over the last decade, both methodologies are expected to compliment each other, each having unique benefits and drawbacks. We present here a detailed description of the arthroscopy technique reporting on our collective experience at two centers in Europe.

In the first half of the 19th century, there were no more home-grown vineyards in the estates of the Pécsvárad public foundation district. It was in the interest of the lords to encourage the serfs to grow grapes and to plant grapes, as the wine was needed. The vineyards of the serfs can be divided into three major groups on the basis of the payment that are the following: contributory vineyard, non-contributory vineyard, planted on leased land. Farmers in many cases have initiated the utilization of arable land, pastures, meadows and forests by planting vines. The favorable taxation and tax exemption of serf vineyards encouraged farmers to grow and plant vineyards. For serfs, however, the most obvious advantage of the vineyard was the freedom of the estate. The serfs had to seek the consent of the manor for contracts relating to the ownership of the vineyard, but the approval was almost never refused by the manor. The serf vineyard meant such a value that – unless it was necessary – they did not want to get rid of it permanently. The vineyard regulations laid down the rights and obligations of vineyard owners. The serfs were obliged to cultivate the vineyard, maintain it well, and preserve the value of the grapes. Failure to cultivate the vineyard may have led to the confiscation of the vineyard.
