This article critically examines how human life today is faced with issues of dishonesty and deception. Using the concept of post-truth in analyzing and understanding the context of change in a global society under neo-liberalism, it focuses on the way powerful people, groups, political parties, and media now take recourse to strategies such as falsification, manipulation, or deception to influence and control the human mind. Those involved in doing this use nostalgic narratives, idealize a fictional past and generate conspiracy theories to create false consciousness and thereby colonize the life world. Such colonization not only promotes social pathologies but also limits the democratic, secular, and plural spirits of multicultural nations like India. The article ends by arguing that there are limits to such politics and the best alternative to the conundrum is the assertion of human subjectivity and agency, and alternative media can play a major role in this endeavor.

The projects selected for this publication show a range of approaches to making energy, carbon emissions, and their underpinning principles explicit in studio design work. We hope the selection not only inspires and stimulates, but also encourages both novice and expert in their search for future-proof architectures. Without a doubt, we are convinced that now is the time to challenge conventional norms and explore the potentials of such principles, not only to elevate design quality in building practice, but to benefit global society as a whole.

Recently, in the global society the focus in foreign language education has tended to be on productive skills from elementary school through university. It is natural that when we try to communicate with other people in English, in addition to receptive skills (input), productive skills (output) are also important to convey our feelings and thoughts to others. In order to make ourselves understood through language, the language–related input is vital; then we need to acquire sufficient productive skills through it. That is to say, without input, output cannot be possible. This research attempts to enhance the quality and quantity of input by using listening materials in a writing class as one of the useful activities for input. This leads to writing activities being carried out as output. In this case, the class contents which will be useful for the learners in their future careers are adopted. From this perspective, the relevance between listening and writing activities is explored.

Film and media practitioners and educators have been expanding the use of digital through new experiences with unusual and innovative technical and artistic “approaches.” Likewise, researchers and academics are questioning and analyzing these new practices that increasingly dominate global society, as seen in the past months with the advent of the worldwide pandemic. In 2013, we created the IFM-Interactive Film and Media Conference to provide an inclusive educational space within the digital theory and interactive studies where researchers and practitioners could discuss and present their research and work in film and media. With this purpose, the IFM has partnered with universities worldwide and established a space for a global integration between academia and the audiovisual production community that aims to forge a valuable exchange between researchers, faculty, students, practitioners, and the community. The goal is to generate a broad debate, emphasizing the need to evaluate the increasing use of digital screens in contemporary society and how people respond artistically, socially, and politically to the challenges of the digital cultural space. The work of professors, researchers, and practitioners (artists, filmmakers, and videomakers) from various areas and several countries, including Italy, Brazil, England, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, Scotland, Germany, and the United States, constitutes this special issue with selected articles and audiovisuals from the #IFM2014. The aim is to launch IFM Journal first issues while archiving our preliminary works.
