There are two types of tori, including torus palatinus and torus mandibularis. Evidence shows that these lesions usually progress slowly, and a spontaneous growth stop is usually another characteristic. Affected patients are usually asymptomatic. However, symptoms might be reported in edentulous patients and cases when the lesion is huge. In the present study, we elaborated on the causes, clinical patterns, and treatment of torus palatinus. The etiology of the condition is unclear, and different theories were reported in the literature, suggesting that the etiology of these cases is usually attributed to environmental and genetic predisposition. It has been defined as a benign tumor that presents in the maxillary bone and is usually asymptomatic. Therefore, the diagnosis of the condition is usually easy. However, it is recommended to conduct a differential diagnosis with other relevant malignant lesions in this area. Surgical interventions are not usually needed as the condition is usually discovered accidentally. However, in cases of tori-related prosthetic or functional discomfort, surgery can be conducted.

AbstractVerruca vulgaris, also known as common warts, is most often seen on the skin of hands and feet. Human papilloma virus (HPV) plays an aetiological role in the development of this lesion. Oral verruca vulgaris (OVV) may occur on the palate, buccal mucosa, and tongue. Although asymptomatic and benign, HPV has been linked to squamous cell carcinoma in the oral cavity and oropharyngeal areas. Therefore, prompt surgical removal of OVV is warranted. We report a case of a OVV in a 48-year-old male patient on palate. The lesion was a white nonscrapable lesion in the middle of a torus palatinus. Excisional biopsy was done together with surgical removal of torus palatinus. Histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of OVV.

Torus Palatinus or Palatine torus is a benign bony exostosis that exists on the hard palate along the mid-palatal or interpalatine suture. Although smaller tori are clinically asymptomatic, bigger ones may require surgical intervention. This study is an attempt to analyze the incidence of palatine tori in East Indian population and to assess any signicant sexual variation between male and female crania. In the present study, 96 skulls (60 male and 36 female) from different medical colleges of West Bengal were examined at Department of Anatomy, N.R.S. Medical College, Kolkata, West Bengal between 2017-2019 to observe the presence of torus on the hard palate. While 8.33% of the total sample showed the presence of palatine torus; no statistically signicant sex difference was noted in its prevalence in male and female skulls. Male skulls were documented with a 10% prevalence rate while female skulls were found to have a 5.55% prevalence of Torus Palatinus. This data is not only useful in comparing skulls of various races but also bears importance in dentistry and facio-maxillary operative interventions.

Background: The most remarkable exostoses of the human jaws are torus palatinus (TP) and torus mandibularis (TM). The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of alveolar exostosis among the edentulous patients of Kashmir. Methods: The present study included 200 edentulous subjects aged between 55 and 75 years. The subjects were examined for the existence of tori by clinical inspection and palpation. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS for Windows version. Results: Among the 200 subjects, 41 (20.5%) had prevalence of tori. Out of 41 patients, four subjects (9.75%) had TP and thirty-seven (18.5%) had TM. Prevalence of TP is more in female subjects than males. Out of the 41 subjects, 27 (65.85%) presented with flat tori, nine (21.95%) with spindle-shaped tori, and five (12.19%) with nodular-shaped tori. Most of the tori observed were small sized (92.68%). Conclusion: A comparatively increased prevalence of TM was observed with flat tori being the most common type.
