Sol-Gel is a low cost, well-established and flexible synthetic route to produce a wide range of micro- and nanostructures. Small variations in pH, temperature, precursors, time, pressure, atmosphere, among others, can lead to a wide family of compounds that share the same molecular structures. In this work, we present a general review of the synthesis of LaMnO3, SrTiO3, BaTiO3 perovskites and zinc vanadium oxides nanostructures based on Sol-Gel method. We discuss how small changes in the parameters of the synthesis can modify the morphology, shape, size, homogeneity, aggregation, among others, of the products. We also discuss the different precursors, solvents, working temperature, reaction times used throughout the synthesis. In the last section, we present novel uses of Sol-Gel with organic materials with emphasis on carbon-based compounds. All with a perspective to improve the method for future applications in different technological fields.

Abstract An involutive Stone algebra (IS-algebra) is a structure that is simultaneously a De Morgan algebra and a Stone algebra (i.e. a pseudo-complemented distributive lattice satisfying the well-known Stone identity, ∼ x ∨ ∼ ∼ x ≈ 1). IS-algebras have been studied algebraically and topologically since the 1980’s, but a corresponding logic (here denoted IS ≤ ) has been introduced only very recently. The logic IS ≤ is the departing point for the present study, which we then extend to a wide family of previously unknown logics defined from IS-algebras. We show that IS ≤ is a conservative expansion of the Belnap-Dunn four-valued logic (i.e. the order-preserving logic of the variety of De Morgan algebras), and we give a finite Hilbert-style axiomatization for it. More generally, we introduce a method for expanding conservatively every super-Belnap logic so as to obtain an extension of IS ≤ . We show that every logic thus defined can be axiomatized by adding a fixed finite set of rule schemata to the corresponding super-Belnap base logic. We also consider a few sample extensions of IS ≤ that cannot be obtained in the above- described way, but can nevertheless be axiomatized finitely by other methods. Most of our axiomatization results are obtained in two steps: through a multiple-conclusion calculus first, which we then reduce to a traditional one. The multiple-conclusion axiomatizations introduced in this process, being analytic, are of independent interest from a proof-theoretic standpoint. Our results entail that the lattice of super-Belnap logics (which is known to be uncountable) embeds into the lattice of extensions of IS ≤ . Indeed, as in the super-Belnap case, we establish that the finitary extensions of IS ≤ are already uncountably many.

Abstract An Archimedes' Screw captures water, feeding energy into it by lifting it to a higher level. We introduce the first instance of an optical Archimedes' Screw, and demonstrate how this system is capable of capturing light, dragging it and amplifying it. We unveil new exact analytic solutions to Maxwell's Equations for a wide family of chiral space-time media, and show their potential to achieve chirally selective amplification within widely tunable parity-time-broken phases. Our work, which may be readily implemented via pump-probe experiments with circularly polarized beams, opens a new direction in the physics of time-varying media by merging the rising field of space-time metamaterials and that of chiral systems, and offers a new playground for topological and non-Hermitian photonics, with potential applications to chiral spectroscopy and sensing.

AbstractSkyrmions are vortex-like spin textures that form strings in magnetic crystals. Due to the analogy to elastic strings, skyrmion strings are naturally expected to braid and form complex three-dimensional patterns, but this phenomenon has not been explored yet. We found that skyrmion strings can form braids in cubic crystals of chiral magnets. This finding is confirmed by direct observations of skyrmion braids in B20-type FeGe using transmission electron microscopy. The theoretical analysis predicts that the discovered phenomenon is general for a wide family of chiral magnets. These findings have important implications for skyrmionics and propose a solid-state framework for applications of the mathematical theory of braids.

Family policies and family support measures have been identified as having major implications for child well-being, particularly through their role in influencing parental and family resources, circumstances and behaviour. The official approach to family policies focuses on opportunities for families to balance their work and family duties and care for their children. This paper analyses the type of policies available in Montenegro compared to the European Union. Potentially, Montenegro will become an EU member state, thus it is important to take a look at Montenegrin practice, as children should have equal life chances and protection of their well-being. Having a solid legal framework per se does not necessarily result in significant positive outcomes, and this paper analyses whether children in Montenegro have the same opportunities for development, in the context of family policies, as their counterparts in the rest of Europe. The focus of the paper will be on the criteria that define family rights and obligations, eligibility, availability and use of family policies in Montenegro. Based on the specific measures and datasets examined, the analysis considers the degree to which a period of family policy investment in Montenegro has been accompanied by improvements in child well-being and family resources, and undertakes comparisons in these regards with EU-wide family policy and child well-being trends. The paper uses a welfare state theoretical approach, with the focus on social investment and relevant data on children’s well-being obtained from the Eurostat, the OECD and the official national statistics.

The dynamics of polymer chains in the polymer/solid interphase region have been a point of debate in recent years. Its understanding is the first step towards the description and the prediction of the properties of a wide family of commercially used polymeric-based nanostructured materials. Here, we present a detailed investigation of the conformational and dynamical features of unentangled and mildly entangled cis-1,4-polybutadiene melts in the vicinity of amorphous silica surface via atomistic simulations. Accounting for the roughness of the surface, we analyze the properties of the polymer chains as a function of their distance from the silica slab, their conformations and the chain molecular weight. Unlike the case of perfectly flat and homogeneous surfaces, the monomeric translational motion parallel to the surface was affected by the presence of the silica slab up to distances comparable with the extension of the density fluctuations. In addition, the intramolecular dynamical heterogeneities in adsorbed chains were revealed by linking the conformations and the structure of the adsorbed chains with their dynamical properties. Strong dynamical heterogeneities within the adsorbed layer are found, with the chains possessing longer sequences of adsorbed segments (“trains”) exhibiting slower dynamics than the adsorbed chains with short ones. Our results suggest that, apart from the density-dynamics correlation, the configurational entropy plays an important role in the dynamical response of the polymers confined between the silica slabs.

: Seemingly in the contemporary era data is the new currency. Facing the exponential explosion of data through its various online sources, there arises a need for the industry to tap into this source. The art of ascribing sentiment to a piece of text is Sentiment Analysis making it relevant to a wide array of fields. The world has witnessed assortments of a wide family of coronaviruses, 229E and NL63 being the alpha coronaviruses and OC43 & HKU1 being the beta coronaviruses. A version of coronavirus MERS-CoV seemed to be identified in Saudi Arabia. This work focuses on the Deep Neural Network and Natural Language processing to diagnose depression in COVID-19 patients, and the model is trained with the depression labeled tagged dataset with an accuracy of 98%. The foundation of this work shall be instrumental in aiding the doctors in timely diagnosis and treatment of their patients.

This paper addresses the projection pursuit problem assuming that the distribution of the input vector belongs to the flexible and wide family of multivariate scale mixtures of skew normal distributions. Under this assumption, skewness-based projection pursuit is set out as an eigenvector problem, described in terms of the third order cumulant matrix, as well as an eigenvector problem that involves the simultaneous diagonalization of the scatter matrices of the model. Both approaches lead to dominant eigenvectors proportional to the shape parametric vector, which accounts for the multivariate asymmetry of the model; they also shed light on the parametric interpretability of the invariant coordinate selection method and point out some alternatives for estimating the projection pursuit direction. The theoretical findings are further investigated through a simulation study whose results provide insights about the usefulness of skewness model-based projection pursuit in the statistical practice.

Random walks with invariant loop probabilities comprise a wide family of Markov processes with site-dependent, one-step transition probabilities. The whole family, which includes the simple random walk, emerges from geometric considerations related to the stereographic projection of an underlying geometry into a line. After a general introduction, we focus our attention on the elliptic case: random walks on a circle with built-in reflexing boundaries.
