BACKGROUND: Family support for adolescent mothers is vital in making breastfeeding decisions and sustaining the feeding since many of these women struggle with identity crises. Therefore, it is essential to synthesize qualitative evidence about the types of family support provided to these young women. AIM: This study aims to identify, synthesize, and recognize the qualitative evidence of family support for successful breastfeeding among teen mothers. METHODS: A systematic review of qualitative studies was identified in six electronic databases published from 2000 to 2020. The quality of the reviewed studies was checked using The Critical Appraisal Skills Programs. The data were extracted by two investigators and analyzed using thematic analysis with three steps: coding the text line-by-line, developing the descriptive themes, and generating the analytical themes. RESULTS: This review includes eight eligible studies. The review founds that family significantly affect the success of breastfeeding practices among adolescent mothers through their appraisal, instrumental, emotional, and informational support. The family strengthens the adolescence’s breastfeeding decisions and confidence, provide financial assistance, share positive breastfeeding information and experience, encourage them to continue the feeding and motivate theme to pursue their study. CONCLUSION: Breastfeeding a baby and becoming a mother at a young age is not an easy process and need family support for a successful feeding. Health care professionals should actively involve the family in supporting adolescent mothers to breastfeed their babies optimally.

Background: First-time mothers require greater nursing accompaniment in the postpartum period due to their lack of expertise and preparation for the new challenges of motherhood. Information and communication technologies (ICTCs) allow easy access to learning habits for the transition into motherhood; however, the lack of technological appropriation for postpartum monitoring becomes evident in developing countries and in the Western world. Methods: This study developed the Amacompri postpartum nursing tracking information system, which is based on Mercer's theory of becoming a mother and discusses the vital environment: First-time mother’s family and friends. The Amacompri software was designed using the SCRUM methodology, java web technologies and PostgreSQL database. Results: This information system features a web version and a mobile App. The technical validation involved 10 experts, and the validation by population 10 first-time mothers. This first group reviewed the quality of presentation and content in the early stages of the software. Finally, the Amacompri system was used for 4 months by 33 first-time mothers, who evaluated the application for design, usability, and applicability. Amacompri software was effective for non-face-to-face nursing accompaniment to first-time mothers. Conclusions: The Amacompri software was designed based on Mercer's theory of becoming a mother, and has been technically validated (experts) and validated by population (first mothers), demonstrating its quality in both presentation and content. Its evaluation demonstrated its effectiveness in meeting the development objective. In this context, the Amacompri software meets multimedia requirements in the functional, technical-esthetic, and pedagogical aspects.

In patriarchal society, motherhood is viewed as a responsibility for women although not all are willing or able to carry it on.  To become a mother, a woman has to experience a challenging phase in life and ready to sacrifice everything they have. Feminist critics see motherhood as a complex issue operating patriarchal institution that regulates, dominates, and oppresses women. What is more, some women are not ready with the consequences during the transition to motherhood and bear the status of becoming a mother that often results in having a hard time. To bring this issue into discussion, this study is going to explore the crises that Zikora has to undergo in her transition to become a mother. Zikora is the protagonist in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's short story, Zikora. In analyzing the issue, this study applies the theory of motherhood by Andrienne Rich and uses a qualitative approach with a close reading method. The result of the study shows that motherhood brings women to a new world full of challenges. Motherhood requires not only physical strenght but also mental strenght and self control so that whatever the crises are, women can bear them and overcome the obstacles they are facing.

Leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) is associated with various health-promoting effects. However, little is known about the relationship between life events and changes in LTPA over the life course, especially when multiple life events occur simultaneously. Therefore, this study examines taking up and terminating LTPA associated with life events in the familial and occupational life domains over 16 years of 16–76-year-old Swiss inhabitants (n = 1857) in a retrospective longitudinal cohort design, using a validated telephone survey and multilevel discrete-time event-history analyses. The results show that taking up LTPA was more likely when ending a relationship and retiring and less likely when becoming a parent; terminating LTPA was more likely when ending a job, starting vocational training after 30 years, a relationship ended for men, and becoming a mother with increasing age. If experiencing multiple life events simultaneously, the greater the number of life events, the more likely persons aged 45–70 years were to take up LTPA and, conversely, the more likely persons aged 15–44 years to terminate LTPA. The relationship between life events and changes in LTPA over the life course was often age dependent, especially when experiencing multiple life events simultaneously. The findings should be considered when promoting LTPA.
