Abstract We consider the possibility of extra spinning particles during inflation, focussing on the spin-2 case. Our analysis relies on the well-known fully non-linear formulation of interacting spin-2 theories. We explore the parameter space of the corresponding inflationary Lagrangian and identify regions therein exhibiting signatures within reach of upcoming CMB probes. We provide a thorough study of the early and late-time dynamics ensuring that stability conditions are met throughout the cosmic evolution. We characterise in particular the gravitational wave spectrum and three-point function finding a local-type non-Gaussianity whose amplitude may be within the sensitivity range of both the LiteBIRD and CMB-S4 experiments.

AbstractWe study Hardy spaces associated with a general multidimensional Bessel operator $$\mathbb {B}_\nu $$ B ν . This operator depends on a multiparameter of type $$\nu $$ ν that is usually restricted to a product of half-lines. Here we deal with the Bessel operator in the general context, with no restrictions on the type parameter. We define the Hardy space $$H^1$$ H 1 for $$\mathbb {B}_\nu $$ B ν in terms of the maximal operator of the semigroup of operators $$\exp (-t\mathbb {B}_\nu )$$ exp ( - t B ν ) . Then we prove that, in general, $$H^1$$ H 1 admits an atomic decomposition of local type.

Abstract Objective Preexisting severe cervical spinal cord compression is a significant risk factor in cervical hyperextension injury, and the neurological function may deteriorate after a slight force to the forehead. There are few biomechanical studies regarding the influence of pathological factors in hyperextension loading condition. The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of preexisting different types of cervical disc herniation and different degrees of compression on the spinal cord in cervical hyperextension. Method A 3D finite element (FE) model of cervical spinal cord was modeled. Local type with median herniation, local type with lateral herniation, diffuse type with median herniation, and diffuse type with lateral herniation were simulated in neutral and extention positions. The compressions which were equivalent to 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% of the sagittal diameter of the spinal cord were modeled. Results The results of normal FE model were consistent with those of previous studies. The maximum von Mises stresses appeared in the pia mater for all 32 loading conditions. The maximum von Mises stresses in extension position were much higher than in neutral position. In most cases, the maximum von Mises stresses in diffuse type were higher than in local type. Conclusion Cervical spinal cord with preexisting disc herniation is more likely to be compressed in hyperextension situation than in neutral position. Diffuse type with median herniation may cause more severe compression with higher von Mises stresses concentrated at the anterior horn and the peripheral white matter, resulting in acute central cord syndrome from biomechanical point of view.

Purpose The suction pipes are important in agriculture and are used widely in water management and agricultural–mechanical industry in ASEAN. Thus, this paper aims to present design of new impeller in suction pipe and include shape blade impeller to optimize for suction head, which has been higher than efficiency local-type by the performance. It mostly depends on the hydrodynamic characteristics, e.g. lift, drag and ratio, which is known as the “Thai Phaya-Nakh pipe”. Design/methodology/approach By approach NACA methodology and use applied technique: leading edge of blade, skew-line, cambered-line, developed area and advanced number etc., for analyzing data which the result of CFD simulation. Findings The models were tested in field by using motor at rotation speed 1500 rpm and found that the summarized average suction efficiency of the new impeller was estimated to be 72%, which has been greater than that of the local-type impeller with an average suction efficiency of 28% to 2.6 times. In addition, the amount of required electrical energy was reduced by 18%. Originality/value Then after analyzing the data from the static pressure distribution flow rate of impeller models, it is found that the new curved impeller has higher flow rate than the local type impeller. Thus, this study suggests the shape new impeller has higher flow rate than the local type impeller.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) not only are specialized in their capacity to secrete large amounts of type I interferon (IFN) but also serve to enable both innate and adaptive immune responses through expression of additional proinflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and costimulatory molecules. Persistent activation of pDCs has been demonstrated in a number of autoimmune diseases. To evaluate the potential benefit of depleting pDCs in autoimmunity, a monoclonal antibody targeting the pDC-specific marker immunoglobulin-like transcript 7 was generated. This antibody, known as VIB7734, which was engineered for enhanced effector function, mediated rapid and potent depletion of pDCs through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. In cynomolgus monkeys, treatment with VIB7734 reduced pDCs in blood below the lower limit of normal by day 1 after the first dose. In two phase 1 studies in patients with autoimmune diseases, VIB7734 demonstrated an acceptable safety profile, comparable to that of placebo. In individuals with cutaneous lupus, VIB7734 profoundly reduced both circulating and tissue-resident pDCs, with a 97.6% median reduction in skin pDCs at study day 85 in VIB7734-treated participants. Reductions in pDCs in the skin correlated with a decrease in local type I IFN activity as well as improvements in clinical disease activity. Biomarker analysis suggests that responsiveness to pDC depletion therapy may be greater among individuals with high baseline type I IFN activity, supporting a central role for pDCs in type I IFN production in autoimmunity and further development of VIB7734 in IFN-associated diseases.

Bidirectional typing combines two modes of typing: type checking, which checks that a program satisfies a known type, and type synthesis, which determines a type from the program. Using checking enables bidirectional typing to support features for which inference is undecidable; using synthesis enables bidirectional typing to avoid the large annotation burden of explicitly typed languages. In addition, bidirectional typing improves error locality. We highlight the design principles that underlie bidirectional type systems, survey the development of bidirectional typing from the prehistoric period before Pierce and Turner’s local type inference to the present day, and provide guidance for future investigations.

Electromagnetic brake (EMBr) technique is adopted to reduce the turbulence of molten alloy in the slab mould in the continuous casting process, especially under high casting speed. We introduce a state-of-the-art EMBr technique by reviewing the published literature. The main objective of this paper is to give a clear view of the EMBr technique in terms of the magnet arrangement, along with their “Braking” effect to help decision-making. The EMBr system can be divided into three types, in terms of the magnet arrangement: the Local type, the Ruler type and the Multi-mode type, respectively. Both advantages and disadvantages of each type have been discussed. Further challenges are also raised.
