The wireless communication network has a huge promotion effect on data processing. As an important standard for internet data transmission, XML markup language is currently widely used in the internet. The rapid development of XML has brought fresh blood to the research of database. This article is aimed at studying the application of wireless network communication in the storage of the XML metadata database of Wushu Historical Archives. One part uses data load-balancing algorithms and two-way path constraint algorithms to conduct research on the metadata storage of XML databases, such as document size, document loading, and document query. Combining wireless technology and comparing with SGML and HTML, it highlights the flexibility and importance of XML database. The other part analyzes the XML database of Wushu Historical Archives itself and uses questionnaire surveys combined with the experience of 30 users randomly checked to provide constructive suggestions for the construction of XML database, such as strengthening the operation page design, text, and graphics. The experimental results show that the time consumed by the XML database in the case of bidirectional path indexing is 0.37 s, and the time consumed in the case of unidirectional path indexing is 0.27 s. This data shows that the application of wireless network communication technology has played an important role in the easy update and flexibility of the XML database. The data load capacity presented by the two path indexes is inconsistent; the current experience of XML database mainly focuses on the copy of the database quantity.

Twenty-one years have passed since PubMed Central (PMC) launched. The present case study describes Korean editors’ history of participation in PMC and their contributions to PMC. The three main turning points in the history of Korean editors’ involvement with PMC were as follows: first, the production of PMC XML files and deposition starting in 2008; second, thorough evaluations of applying journals since 2014; and third, the feasibility of non-English journals being indexed in PMC starting in 2019. The importance of PMC is further shown by the fact that KoreaMed Synapse, a full-text XML database of biomedical journals in Korea that was launched in 2007, was created by benchmarking PMC. Scholarly societies or institutes publish 724 (34.2%) of the 2,119 PMC journals without embargo in June 2021. Out of those 724 journals, 127 (17.5%) are published in Korea. PMC has helped local journals receive more citations from researchers worldwide, increasing their likelihood of being indexed in international databases. The number of submissions from international researchers has increased, thereby making it possible for journals to achieve international diversity. As the best full-text platform of biomedical journals, PMC has provided an excellent opportunity for biomedical journal editors in Korea to change their journals’ language to English and produce full-text JATS (Journal Article Tag Suite) XML files. These factors have made Korea the second-ranked country in terms of no-embargo PMC journals published by academic societies or institutes.

This paper presents work in progress to support fine-grained semantic relationships between mathematical concepts and educational resources. Can RDF ontologies and XML structure support a high-capacity database application for lesson planning, teaching, assessment, and tutoring?

Image semantic retrieval has been a crux to bridge "semantic gap" between the simple visual features and the abundant semantics delivered by a image. Effective image retrieval using semantics is one of the major challenges in image retrieval. We suggest a semantic retrieval and clustering method of image using image annotation user interface. And also design and implement a image semantic search management system that facilitates image management and semantic retrieval, which fully relies on the MPEG-7 standard as information base, and using a native XML database, which is Berkeley DB XML.

AbstractOur research team has developed a system and methodology for measuring psycho-physiological parameters, which can be used to determine the level of fatigue and fitness of the person being measured. This article describes the electroencephalography (EEG) part of this system. This article covers the technical and mathematical background of EEG measurement, the selection and implementation of the measurement tool in the development environment, and the development of the measurement and processing algorithm. The result is a system that can detect, digitize, and process the digitized signal from the brain, and save the processed signal in an XML database.

Lilith is a public Python library for constraining new physics from Higgs signal strength measurements. We here present version 2.0 of Lilith together with an updated XML database which includes the current ATLAS and CMS Run 2 Higgs results for 36 fb^{-1}−1. Both the code and the database were extended from the ordinary Gaussian approximation employed in Lilith-1.1 to using variable Gaussian and Poisson likelihoods. Moreover, Lilith can now make use of correlation matrices of arbitrary dimension. We provide detailed validations of the implemented experimental results as well as a status of global fits for reduced Higgs couplings, Two-Higgs-doublet models of Type I and Type II, and invisible Higgs decays. Lilith-2.0 is available on GitHub and ready to be used to constrain a wide class of new physics scenarios.

We have identified four models for integrating digital edition content into eXist-db [eXist-db], which are, in increasing order of dependence on eXist-db itself: 1) using Apache [Apache] and PHP [PHP] to mediate between the user and eXist-db, so that eXist-db provides only XML database services, 2) a pure XQuery framework for building an eXist-db web application [Web applications], 3) the eXist-db HTML templating framework [HTML templating], and 4) TEI Publisher [TEI Publisher]. Our examination and comparison of these ways of conceptualizing and implementing the infrastructure for a digital edition reveals that each of them has advantages and disadvantages, primarily from the perspective of sustainability. These considerations apply to edition frameworks generally, and are therefore not specific to eXist-db, which has been used here as an example because of the number of editions that employ it and the variety of models it currently supports.

XML and markup technologies are a wonderful thing, but only lately has the author had the confidence to really and truly eat his own dog food, trusting entirely on the technologies familiar to him. He's learned to ignore the calls for real programmers while discovering how to copy and paste from Stack Overflow and the like in moderation. XForms, XQuery, XSLT, XSL-FO, and a proper XML database might just be all you need, at least if you know how to Google and ask for help. This, then, is nominally about building a conference registration application ensuring that we get paid for every delegate, but really all about the fact that we can now rule the world without bothering with the programmers.
