While it is tempting to think of closed time-like curves (CTCs) around rotating bodies, such as a black hole, as being “caused” by the rotation of the source, Andréka et al. pointed out that the underlying physics are not as straightforward as this, since such CTCs are “counter-rotating”, i.e., the time orientation (the opening of the local light cones) of the CTCs is opposite to the direction in which the singularity or the ergosphere rotates. It was also suggested that this is a generic phenomenon that calls for a deeper intuitive physical understanding. In this short note, we point out—with Kerr–Taub–NUT as an example—that CTCs are counter-rotating with respect to the local angular velocity of the spacetime, not the global angular momentum, nor the angular velocity of the black hole horizon, which makes the physical interpretation of CTCs being “caused” by a rotating source even more problematic.

After six decades of studying radio galaxies, we are now delightfully overwhelmed by their exponentially expanding numbers and the complexity of their structures. Similarly, the methods we use to classify radio galaxies have exploded, often resulting in conflicting terminology, ambiguous classifications, and historical schemes that may or may not match our current physical understanding. After discussions with more than 100 radio astronomers over the last several years and listening to their ideas and aspirations, I propose that we reconceptualize the classification of radio galaxies. Instead of trying to place them into “boxes”, we should assign them #tags, a system that is easy to understand and apply, that is flexible and evolving, and that can accommodate conflicting ideas with respect to what is relevant and important. Here, I outline the basis of such a #tag system; the rest is up to the community.

In this paper we investigate into the possible resurrection for the aether and it’s compatibility with the theory of relativity. We revisit the Michelson-Morley experiment and expose some of the major inadequacies. In this regard, we have presented the true/corrected form of the Michelson-Morley experiment. We have tried to revise the interpretational aspect of the mathematical formalism regarding the metric of Minkowskian space-time in addendum with it’s relationship to the two theories of time. We herein have also tried to restrain some of the quantum mechanical issues arising from the mainstream understanding of the mathematical formalism of the Minkowskian manifold. Essentially, we have argued in favour of aether to be incorporated into our mathematical formalism as well the physical understanding of the universe.

Abstract In this piece of research, our aim is to investigate the novel solitons solutions of nonlinear (4+1)-dimensional Fokas equation (FE) and (2+1)-dimensional Breaking soliton equation (BSE) via new extended direct algebraic method. New acquired solutions are bright, singular, dark, periodic singular, combined dark-bright and combined dark-singular solitons along with hyperbolic and trigonometric functions solutions. We achieved different kinds of solitons solutions contain key applications in engineering and physics. By taking the appropriate values of these parameters, numerous novel structures are also plotted. These solutions define the wave performance of the governing models, actually. Furthermore, the physical understanding of the acquired solutions is revealed in forms of 3-D, 2-D and contour graphs for different appropriate parameters. From results, we conclude that the applied computational method is straight, talented and can be applied in more complex phenomena for such models.

Subaerial landslide-tsunamis (SLTs) are caused by mass movements such as landslides, rock falls or glacier calving. Research into SLTs is ongoing for many decades, however, the advancement in the physical understanding and reliability of hazard assessment methods is not reflecting the number of articles published per year. It appears that a paradigm shift in SLT research is required for a genuine advancement. This article critically reviews the state-of-the-art of SLT research, highlights current limitations and introduces potential candidates to perform this needed paradigm shift.

Analysis of new experiments with entangled states of objects (ESO) has shown: ESO is the result of information interactions of entangled objects in combination with information resonance; ESO arises also between materially different purely informational twins; the sharpness of the resonance peak is extremely high; for a clearly defined the ESO, an extremely accurate coincidence of resonating information is required; the physical understanding of the thought actions, the crowd or herd effects and the meaning of the creating ESO procedures has obtained. This gives the innovative technologies.
