Abstract The concept of sustainability is usually broad; it refers to the ability of the system to meet the current demand for livestock products without compromising the use of resources by future generations. Therefore, this study has been conducted to provide an overview of rotational, intensive, and regenerative livestock models to evaluate and measure their level of sustainability in the environmental, social, and economic dimensions to guide livestock guilds, professionals and stakeholders to transform their agricultural systems by adopting the concept of sustainability. The results show that the regenerative livestock system has a high association with the economic dimension in the Almost Good category, in the environmental dimension in the Moderate category, and in the social dimension in the Almost Good and Very Good categories. On the other hand, the rotational livestock system and the intensive livestock system have an association with the environmental dimension categorized as good; however, the association of the intensive livestock system is not as strong as that of the rotational livestock system.

Recognising opportunities and risks are central for every business to stay successful in the long-run and a mandatory capability to create realistic management strategies. Recent papers argue strategic planning is sustainable in the long run. However, little is known about the owner-managers' attitudes and perceptions of challenges and opportunities of family businesses. This research shows the results of a qualitative inquiry identifying attitudes on sustainability of owner-managers in tourism family firms. Furthermore, attitudes towards the three dimensions of sustainability are analysed. The results reveal an awareness of economic and social sustainability attitudes while the environmental dimension seems to be less prominent.

Abstract Since the aftermath of the 1999 Kosovo Conflict, UNEP has addressed the environmental dimension of insecurities and turned to peacebuilding. This has been risky because it strays close to conflict prevention, identification, or resolution, which lie outside of UNEP’s mandate. I argue that this change in approach results from knowledge creation. UNEP’s experiences about the linkage between environmental degradation and insecurity in postconflict settings motivated its search for opportunities that would legitimize its contribution to postconflict peacebuilding. Seizing on the UN’s Peacebuilding Architecture, UNEP established ECP and, through the program, aimed to develop environmental peacebuilding as a concern through three distinct but interrelated knowledge-building practices: knowledge collection, strategic interpretation, and implementation.

The current study aimed at identifying the amount of sustainable development dimensions were included in the developed science curriculum for the fifth grade in the Sultanate of Oman. The sample of this study consisted of analyzing the content of the students’ textbook and activity book for the fifth grade for the first semester of the academic year 2020-2021. A descriptive content analysis was adopted to achieve the purpose of the study. A content analysis card was further designed that included the dimensions of sustainable development (the environmental dimension, the social dimension, and the economic dimension) and the reliability was checked by some academic referees. The results of the study revealed that the content of the analyzed textbooks included all dimensions of sustainable development, to varying degrees. The availability of social dimension was the highest with (80.07%) percent, followed by the environmental dimension with a percentage of (13.41%), and the lowest dimension was economic with (6.52%) percent. Increasing the availability of sub-issues in the content of the analyzed science curriculum that did not appear sufficiently compared to others was recommended due to its relevance to achieve sustainability.

Deforestation is induced by human activities, cascading into associated cost and economic benefits. The concepts, dimensions and, deforestation caused by deliberate human activities were extensively examined. The chapter also highlighted the rationale for deforestation, environmental dimension to deforestation and contributions of forestry and forest by products to livelihoods. The segmented cases and experiences to create awareness on the need to discourage deforestation were explored. While recognizing that forest provides useful support for majority of rural dwellers, the justification for forest protection is advocated. Some communities depend on forests for their main livelihood, and use medicinal therapies derived from indigenous plants found in the forest. Forest remains an important pool of biodiversity and deforestation must be avoided. The chapter conclude that awareness of the impact of deforestation by the citizenry should be encouraged and supported by policies.
