Abstract This article analyses the lithium iron phosphate battery and the ternary lithium battery. With the development of new energy vehicles, people are discussing more and more about the batteries of electric vehicles. Nowadays, electric vehicles mainly use the lithium iron phosphate battery and the ternary lithium battery as energy sources. Existing research and articles have given the current performance of the two batteries but have not systematically compared the two batteries with more details. This article introduces the basic principles, cathode structure, and standard preparation methods of the two batteries by summarizing and discussing existing data and research. The article discusses the two types of batteries and concludes the advantages and disadvantages of the two batteries at the present stage. This article aims to help readers have a more comprehensive understanding of the basic information of the two batteries at this stage and provide theoretical guidance for future research on batteries for electric vehicles.

In order to reduce the impact of load power fluctuations on the power system and ensure the economic benefits of user-side energy storage operation, an optimization strategy of configuration and scheduling based on model predictive control for user-side energy storage is proposed in this study. Firstly, considering the cost and benefits of energy storage comprehensively, an energy storage configuration optimization model with the highest annualized net income as the goal is built to determine the parameters for configuring energy storage. Then, with the goal of maximizing the profit during the scheduling period, pre-month scheduling optimization model, day-ahead scheduling optimization model and intra-day scheduling optimization model are established. The goal of the pre-month scheduling optimization model is to determine the maximum monthly demand; part of the scheduling results in the day-ahead scheduling optimization model directly participate in the intra-day scheduling; the intra-day rolling optimization relies on the advantages of real-time feedback and closed-loop scheduling to smooth out power fluctuations caused by load forecast errors. Finally, the configuration and economic benefit of lithium iron phosphate batteries, lead-carbon batteries and sodium-sulfur batteries are analyzed and compared, and scheduling analysis is performed. The simulation results show that the proposed optimization method can cut peaks and fill valleys, ensure the economic benefits of users, and provide guidance for users to invest in energy storage.

Temperature is considered to be an important indicator that affects the capacity of a lithium ion batteries. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the relationship between the capacity and temperature of lithium ion batteries with different anodes. In this study, the single battery is used as the research object to simulate the temperature environment during the actual use of the power battery, and conduct a charge and discharge comparison test for lithium iron phosphate battery, lithium manganate battery and lithium cobalt oxide battery. In the test of capacity characteristics of lithium ion batteries of three different cathode materials at different temperatures, the optimal operating temperature range of the lithium ion battery is extracted from the discharge efficiencies obtained. According to the research results, the discharge capacity of a lithium ion battery can be approximated by a cubic polynomial of temperature. The optimal operating temperature of lithium ion battery is 20–50 °C within 1 s, as time increases, the direct current (DC) internal resistance of the battery increases and the slope becomes smaller. Between 1 s and 10 s, the DC internal resistance of the battery basically shows a linear relationship with time. In the charge and discharge process, when state of charge (SOC) 0% and SOC 100%, the internal resistance of the battery is the largest. The SOC has the greatest impact on the polarization internal resistance, and the smallest impact on the ohmic internal resistance.

Major countries and automobile manufacturers in the world jointly promote the transformation of automobile energy and boost the development of electric vehicles. As the most widely used power battery, the lithium-ion power battery comes under the spotlight. The progress of lithium iron phosphate batteries and ternary lithium batteries has given rise to the hope of transformation. And the breakthrough of solidstate batteries has laid a solid foundation for future highperformance batteries. This paper reviews and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of three power batteries, and evaluates their modifications, application, and current situation. It can be concluded that ternary lithium batteries cannot replace lithium iron phosphate batteries and solid-state batteries temporarily cannot be widely produced and applied.
