The COVID-19 pandemic has demanded a change in learning modalities, which led us to develop a remote personal training system for clinicians performing neuroendovascular procedures. A portable vascular model designed for practicing catheter navigation guidance, thrombus retrieval, and intracranial aneurysm coil embolisation was established. We created an environment that enabled interactive dialogue and communication across long distances using the Internet. The instructor conducted approximately 2 h of hands-on training with two to four trainees at a time. Despite the restrictions enforced by the Government of Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 17 online hands-on training were successfully conducted throughout Japan over 1 year for a total of 48 trainees. The developed remote training programme, to avoid the aggregation of a large number of trainees at a developed time, proved to be at par with the conventional learning system. The training was well-received since the operation time was longer and the question and answer sessions were more fulfilling compared to the conventional format in which a group of trainees had got a brief opportunity to receive actual hands-on experience.

Abstract. This is the sixth edition of the National Surveys of Fitness Trends in Spain, which annually reproduces the methodology of the worldwide surveys endorsed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The objective of this study is to identify the main trends in the Spanish fitness sector by presenting the results of the Spanish survey for 2022, as well as comparing the results with those obtained in the national and international surveys for 2021. In addition, the possible impact of COVID-19 on the incorporation of technology in the fitness sector in Spain was also analyzed. The survey was electronically sent to 6551 professionals related to the fitness sector, collecting a total of 520 responses (response rate 7.9%), of which 27.3% were women and 72.7% were men. The five most relevant trends for 2022 were, in that order: “employing certificate fitness professional”, “functional fitness training”, “personal training in small groups”, “personal training” and “exercise and weight loss programs”. The trends in the top-20 in Spain for 2022 were very congruent with those of 2021, both in the number of coincidences (18 common trends) and in the positions occupied (9 common trends within the top-10). As in previous years, there was a greater discrepancy between the Spanish survey for 2022 and the worldwide survey for 2021, with only 13 common trends within the top-20 and only two coinciding trends in the top-10. These findings confirm again, in accordance with previous editions, the stability of trends in the Spanish fitness sector and the progressive divergence with worldwide trends.

Abstract Purpose Perioperative cognitive dysfunction can be observed in all age groups of patients. Sometimes, this is more stressful to the patient than the actual surgical wound. Enhanced recovery after surgery pathways screen for patients at risk and lead to early post-surgical intervention. To prevent cognitive dysfunction, a prehabilitation approach might be useful. Methods This systematic literature review provides an overview on the current knowledge on prehabilitation for cognitive dysfunction for gynaecological patients by searching the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) in February 2020 to identify publications regarding presurgical cognitive training with three different search terms. Results 501 articles were identified and after screening for eligibility five were left for further analysis. Generally, cognitive function is split into several cognitive aspects like anxiety or memory, speed, attention, flexibility or problem-solving functions. Each of these aspects can/need to be trained to show an improvement after general anaesthesia. Training possibilities range from relaxation methods via music, one-on-one personal training sessions to electronically supported training units. Conclusion Prehabilitation of the cognitive function can be split in different cognitive domains. Each of these domains seem to be influenced by training. The training itself can be based on applications or known relaxation methods or even old-fashioned board games. The evidence is, however, still low and there is a need for further studies.

Modern society life is inextricably linked with the digital environment. A consequence is the transformation of ergatic systems into digital ones. The result is the emergence of new types of man-machine interaction. The essential feature of such interaction is to minimise human involvement in the ergatic system functioning. According to this, the issues of organising the safe and effective functioning of digital ergatic systems have priority importance. In this regard, the aim was to study the features of man-machine interaction in an actual digital ergatic system. We chose an ergatic system for research. The main elements of the system were students (70 people of the first-year study) and teachers (5 people) of the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, as well as the digital system “Personal training systems the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics” (PTS). This digital system is an adapted model of the Moodle digital system. The study found out that the key components that determine the safety and efficiency of the digital ergatic system are the operator's digital mindset, digital tools and digital devices. The study of these components in the system made it possible to establish that it had a balanced state. It is substantiated the optimal form of man-machine interaction in the system. It is mixed learning. It is shown that the tendency to minimise the human role in a digital ergatic system does not always have the expected positive result, which determines the need for further research on this issue. In addition, we analysed the difficulties arising in the design of digital systems. The main reason for this is a lack of developers awareness of the ergonomic and cognitive aspects of man-machine interaction. It is shown that the development of critical thinking and intuition in students is closely related to the individual trajectory of learning. For this, it is essential to update interdisciplinary knowledge. In this case, it is necessary to familiarise students with current concepts and system-forming principles, which are the basis of human factors engineering. It was substantiated that the application of current concepts and system-forming principles in training will allow optimising man-machine interaction. The positive results will be evidence even at the stage of designing digital systems

Current appropriate technology promoting social sustainability for rural, underprivileged populations is often plagued by lack of affordability, maintenance, and personal training, and is also empathetically disconnected from local people and culture. This study proposes criteria for balancing design thinking processes and appropriate technology for social sustainability. In this study, we concretized five assumptions for design thinking processes: user-oriented design with mass productivity; reiterative nature through user satisfaction surveys; affordability for purchase, maintenance, and repair services; local appropriateness; and eco-friendliness with environmental sustainability. Next, we applied the criteria to 28 representative cases from the water, energy, health, shelter, and transportation fields. The cases were evaluated using qualitative content analysis. Findings show that the criteria are necessary for setting economic, social, and environmental development goals for underprivileged regions after considering local contexts. Cultural empathy and collaboration with locals are key for finding practical solutions and co-creating options iteratively. Further, the cases were compared quantitatively using radar diagrams, histograms, and graphs showing average values and standard deviations, providing an objective measure for appropriate technology. Notably, both qualitative and quantitative approaches can serve as useful guidelines for designers, developers, and local users when developing appropriate technology for social sustainability in underprivileged regions.
