The study’s main purpose was to investigate faculty members’ information searching behaviors while administering any research. This study designed an online questionnaire and printed questionnaires used for data collection. The data were analysed using several descriptive statistics, such as frequencies, percentages, and non-parametric tests, i.e., Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis. The findings showed that faculty members were heavily dependent on search engines to access information, and they have mainly used academic social media sites such as Google Scholar (n=139) and ResearchGate (n=133). Additionally, to keep up-to-date with new publications, they primarily relied on journal alerts (n=126). In the case of applying searching strategies, they used more than one keyword search and sometimes one keyword. Conversely, they do not apply proximity operators, discovery and federated tools and Boolean operators in their search techniques. Furthermore, for modifying search techniques, they used several keywords searching and utilise search engines, databases, and advanced search techniques. Moreover, the Mann-Whitney test result found no significant differences in terms of their gender regarding the types of e-resources used by them, and the Kruskal-Wallis tests found substantial differences in terms of faculty demographic characteristics of using only indexed databases, search engines, academic, social media sites (e.g., ResearchGate, and Zotero Network), current awareness services (i.e., Journal alerts, Web alerts, and discussion lists), and search techniques (i.e., Boolean operators, and Truncation).

As the world progresses towards automation, manual search for data from large databases also needs to keep pace. When the database includes health data, even minute aspects need careful scrutiny. Keyword search techniques are helpful in extracting data from large databases. There are two keyword search techniques: Exact and Approximate. When the user wants to search through EHR, a short search time is expected. To this end, this work investigates Metaphone (Exact search) and Similar_Text (approximate search) Techniques. We have applied keyword search to the data, which includes the symptoms and names of medicines. Our results indicate that the search time for Similar_text is better than for Metaphone.

Couchsurfing is an application that connects persons who need lodging, with individuals who offer their house as a free place to stay. Persons who need lodging are called surfers and individuals who provide their house are called hosts. When hosts and surfers are just getting acquainted through the Couchsurfing app, they hold some uncertainty with each other. This study describes the experiences of both parties in their efforts to reduce uncertainty and build close relationships, even though they only met through digital applications and never  face to face. This study uses a phenomenological approach with data search techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, direct observation, and data observation through the Couchsurfing application. The number of interviewees was 14  from various cities in Indonesia. To reduce uncertainty and build close relationships, hosts and surfers go through five stages; first, understanding and believing technology; second, pre-conversation; third, online conversation-1; fourth, face-to-face conversation; and fifth, online conversation-2. The description of these stages is summarized in the findings of this study. This finding also proves that the presence of technology may modify the previously known theories of interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication not only takes place between two people directly but also involves technology as an intermediary.

<p>Power system-controlled islanding is one of the mitigation techniques taken to prevent blackouts during severe outage. The implementation of controlled islanding will lead to the formation of few islands, that can operate as a stand-alone island. However, some of these islands may not be balanced in terms of generation and load after the islanding execution. Therefore, a good load shedding scheme is required to meet the power balance criterion so that it can operate as a balanced stand-alone island. Thus, this paper developed a load shedding scheme-based metaheuristics technique namely modified discrete evolutionary programming (MDEP) technique to determine the optimal amount of load to be shed in order to produce balanced stand-alone islands. The developed load shedding scheme is evaluated and validated with two other load shedding techniques which are conventional EP and exhaustive search techniques. The IEEE 30-bus and 39-bus test systems were utilized for this purpose. The results proves that the load shedding based MDEP technique produces the optimal amount of loads to be shed with shortest computational time as compared with the conventional EP and exhaustive search techniques.</p>

Present days many artificial intelligence search algorithms are plays a important to figure out the problem of shortest path finding. The paper presents the detailed study of heuristic search and blind search techniques. The paper focus additional in the direction of blind search strategies such as Breadth First Search, Depth First Search, and Uniform Cost Search and informed explore strategies like A*, and Best First Search. The paper consist of effective of search procedure, their qualities, and demerits, where these algorithms are applicable, also at last comparison of search techniques based on complexity, optimality and completeness are presented in tabular structure.
