Insects fall prey to the Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) when they touch the sensory hairs located on the flytrap lobes, causing sudden trap closure. The mechanical stimulus imparted by the touch produces an electrical response in the sensory cells of the trigger hair. These cells are found in a constriction near the hair base, where a notch appears around the hair’s periphery. There are mechanosensitive ion channels (MSCs) in the sensory cells that open due to a change in membrane tension; however, the kinematics behind this process is unclear. In this study, we investigate how the stimulus acts on the sensory cells by building a multi-scale hair model, using morphometric data obtained from μ-CT scans. We simulated a single-touch stimulus and evaluated the resulting cell wall stretch. Interestingly, the model showed that high stretch values are diverted away from the notch periphery and, instead, localized in the interior regions of the cell wall. We repeated our simulations for different cell shape variants to elucidate how the morphology influences the location of these high-stretch regions. Our results suggest that there is likely a higher mechanotransduction activity in these ’hotspots’, which may provide new insights into the arrangement and functioning of MSCs in the flytrap.

Microsporum canis is one of the most important dermatophyte causing tinea corporis and tinea capitis and its biofilm-form has a poor therapeutic response. The biosurfactant production by entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) has not been reported yet. The study aimed to investigate the potential usage of the EPF biosurfactant in the eradication of an ex vivo biofilm of Microsporum canis (M. canis) for the first time. An entomopathogenic fungus was isolated from the fungal-infected Vespa orientalis wasp and identified as Beauveria bassiana (MN173375). Chemical characterization revealed the lipopeptide nature of the B. bassiana biosurfactant (BBLP). Efficient antifungal and antibiofilm activities of BBLP against M. canis in vitro were detected. An ex vivo hair model was used to investigate the efficiency of BBLP against M. canis biofilm, in a scenario close to the in vivo conditions. M. canis ex vivo biofilm eradication was confirmed in stereo, scanning electron, and fluorescent images. Also, the ex vivo biofilm was less susceptible to BBLP treatment compared to its in vitro counterpart. In conclusion, BBLP showed significant eradication to the M. canis ex vivo biofilm and open horizons to use bio-resource derived from EPF in controlling microbial biofilm and holding great promise for combating recalcitrant dermatophytosis.

The development of barbershop makes business competition becomes increasingly tight. Currently, information and communication technology is very important in the field of barbershop marketing. But this technology only shows details of the existence of barbershop. In addition, the catalog of hairstyles that are provided only in the form of 2-dimensional images. Therefore, more advanced technology is needed to promote the model of hairstyle available in barbershop. One of the technology applied in smartphone applications is Augmented Reality on the Android operating system. In this research will be developed an Augmented Reality based promotion media to promote hair model model with 3 dimensional object visualization using marker based tracking method. Development of this application starts from the stage of concept creation, application design, 3-dimensional object creation, application assembly, application testing, until the application distribution stage. This application was created using C # programming language, Vuforia Qualcomm, virtual and Unity Autodeks Maya software. The application that has been produced is tested by 2 methods that is by black-box testing and by usability scale system test, on the test of black -box AugmentedReality application of functional barbershop that exist in the application has been successfully executed according to their respective function. Based on survey results on Usabilty ScaleSystem(SUS) test on Augmented Reality Barbershop application, 20 respondents gave average score of 73.35 with Grade Scale C.

Introduction & objectivesPersonality disorder, formerly referred to as a Character Disorder, is a class of mental disorders characterized by rigid and on-going patterns of feeling, thinking, and behavior. The underlying belief systems informing these patterns are referred to as fixed fantasies or “dysfunctional schemata” (Cognitive modules). The inflexibility and pervasiveness of these behavioral patterns often cause serious personal and social difficulties, as well as a general functional impairment. So the study examined a new view in personality and mental disorders named “Rap” disorder. In the domain we compare the youngster with and without disorder. The Rap disorder people are known with unusual hair model, nihilistic and anarchistic thinking, unusual and bizarre behavior, reading of meaningfulness poet and sings, doing immoral behavior against society norms and so on.MethodsMethod research is Causative - Comparative (Ex post facto). 200 youngster, 100 with the disorder and 100 without the disorder, were randomly selected and Eysenc's Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) was administered on them.ResultsFindings showed the Rap youngster are high in extroversion and emotional instability than normal youngster.ConclusionsIt is recommended that the appropriate behavior education specially moral and religious education can avoid tendency to this behavior disorder and reduce the bad effects of the behavior in society.
