During the fabrication of pressure hulls, plastic processing is indispensable, which is an environmental, highly effective, and economical processing method. However dimensional error is also induced during plastic processing. This kind of error is one type of defection, which makes the hulls in danger, especially when the hulls suffer eternal pressure. Von Mises theory is an effective approach to study failure of pressure hulls. In this paper, numerical simulations are performed to investigate influence of distribution of defections along the axial direction on the ultimate strengths of titanium alloy pressure hulls of long barrel shape with two vessel heads using ABAQUS. The results of numerical simulations show that the ultimate strengths of pressure hulls with defections are relative to the location and distribution of defections, and they are decreasing with reduction of the average ratio and standard deviation when the hull suffers eternal pressure. The method of evaluating degradation of ultimate strength based on simulations can be employed to check the safety of pressure hulls.

In this work, a seriTables of silsesquioxanes (SSQ) and spherosilicates (SS), comprising a group of cage siloxane (CS) compounds, was tested as functional additives for preparation of isotactic polypropylene (iPP)-based nanocomposites and discussed in the aspect of their rationale of applicability as such additives. For this purpose, the compounds were prepared by condensation and olefin hydrosilylation reactions. The effect of these cage siloxane products on properties of obtained CS/iPP nanocomposites was analyzed by means of mechanical, microscopic (scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy), thermal (differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry), thermomechanical (Vicat softening point) analyses. The results were compared with the previous findings on CS/polyolefin composites. The role of CS compounds was discussed in terms of plastic processing additives.

The control of formation of nonmetallic inclusion and the characterization present the basis of improvement of steel product properties and lead to sustainable development in design of new steel grades. In order to produce steels with better machinability, such as AISI 303 grades, a modification of inclusions with carefully designed chemical composition is presented. Sulphur by creating sulphide inclusions reduces friction and cutting resistance, and increases the brittleness of the chip.Considering its harmful effect in steel, as well as the fact that non-metallic inclusions have been insufficiently tested for this type of high-alloyed steel, the aim of this research is to determine effects of microalloying on the possibility of modification of non-metallic inclusions. Modification with zirconium favorably affects the ductile properties of steel, and a step forward in this study is a modification of inclusions with tellurium. It is of particular importance to determine the behavior of non-metallic inclusions in the process of production of the structural part and in subsequent exploitation. Therefore, plastic processing of austenitic stainless steel was also carried out, forging and rolling with two different level of processing.

To provide the quality required for its use, raw kaolin must be subjected to certain processing procedures like delamination which is applied to the layered structure materials. The aim of this research is to determine the possibility of performing delamination in the extruder and to estimate the effects of this process on the physico-chemical properties of kaolin. The results showed that delamination can be efficiently realized in the extruder by shearing densely packed layers under the influence of friction force and added Na2CO3 electrolyte. The crystal structure of the system was thus disrupted. This was confirmed by the Hinckley index (HI) decrease and by the dilatometric characteristics changes during heating. The particle size was reduced and, furthermore, new adsorption centers were formed, which led to an increase in the total cation exchange capacity (CEC). The plasticity of kaolin decreased with the increasing delamination degree, as well as the amount of water required for plastic processing, which is favorable in drying ceramic products.
