Introduction. Alopecia is a polyetiological disorder characterized by hair loss and reducing their number per unit area. Baldness causes psychological and social discomfort to patients, in connection with what an important task is to develop formulations that are more effective than the reference agents.Aim. Investigate the possibility of applying the original substance Y in several dosage forms for the treatment of alopecia in comparison with reference drugs: minoxidil and burdock oil.Materials and methods. The research subject was the original substance Y, for which several dosage forms were made: gel, alcohol and oil compositions. The study on the effectiveness and safety of the developed formulations was carried out on 9 groups of male C57BL/6 mice. Depilation with further assessment of the percentage of hair follicles in the growth and resting phases was tested as a pre-clinical model of alopecia. In the study of the mechanism of action of substance Y, chemiluminescent assay was performed compared with natural antioxidant quercetin in the system luminol – 2,2'-azo-bis(2-amidinopropane)dihydrochloride, in potassium-phosphate buffer medium (pH = 7.4). Statistical processing of the results was carried out using two-way ANOVA using GraphPad Prism 8.0.2, USA software at the level of statistical significance of differences p < 0.05 and p < 0.005.Results and discussion. Based on the results of histological analysis and visual changes, it was found that the effectiveness of the topical forms of substance Y decreases in the following order: gel, alcohol form, oil composition. The use of a combination of the gel base with the test substance Y resulted to the appearance of a larger number of hair follicles in the growth phase than when using the reference preparation – 2 % minoxidil solution (the differences are statistically significant). Chemiluminescent assessment of antioxidant activity showed the lack of antioxidant effect in substance Y.Conclusion. The study combines two pharmaceutical profiles: technological and pharmacological. In the course of the experiments, the prospects of the gel form of the original substance Y for topical therapy of alopecia were shown. In the near future, it is planned to study the mechanism of action of substance Y, as well as registration of patent protection for a new drug.

Six matrices based on alkali-activated aluminosilicate with different amounts of potassium phosphate were prepared for the production of six-layer composite plates. The addition of potassium phosphate in the matrix was 2 wt%, 4 wt%, 6 wt%, 8 wt% and 10 wt% of its total weight. The matrix without the potassium phosphate was also prepared. The aim of this study was to determine whether this addition has an effect on the tensile strength or Young’s modulus of composites at temperatures up to 800 °C. Changes in the thickness and weight of the samples after this temperature were also monitored. Carbon plain weave fabric was chosen for the preparation of the composites. The results show that under normal conditions, the addition of potassium phosphate has no significant effect on the mechanical properties; the highest measured tensile strengths were around 350 MPa. However, at temperatures of 600 °C and 800 °C the addition of potassium phosphate had a positive effect, with the tensile strength of the composites being up to 300% higher than the composites without the addition. The highest measured values of composites after one hour at 600 °C were higher than 100 MPa and after 1 h at 800 °C higher than 85 MPa.

Aim: To design simple, rapid, new analytical method for estimation of Metronidazole, Ciprofloxacin Doxycycline by using RP-HPLC in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Study Design: Estimation of Metronidazole, Ciprofloxacin Doxycycline by using RP-HPLC in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form was planned and executed. Place and Duration of Study: Chalapathi Drug Testing Laboratory, Chalapathi Institute Of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Lam, Guntur-522034, Andhra Pradesh, India during the period of November 2019 to February 2020. Methodology: Metronidazole is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medication. It is used either alone or with other antibiotics to treat pelvic inflammatory disease, endocarditis and bacterial vaginosis. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat a number of bacterial infections. Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. The study was carried out on SHIMADZU Prominance-i, LC-2030C system equipped with Shim-pack Gist (250 x 4.6 mm, 5μm) column and mobile phase was optimized by using mixture of methanol and 0.25mM potassium phosphate buffer in the ration of 60:40 v/v at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min. The wavelength was set as 282nm at ambient temperature by injecting 20µl of solution and the run time was fixed for 10 min. Results: Linearity plot was constructed for concentration range of 5-15µg/ml for Metronidazole,5-15µg/ml for Ciprofloxacin and 1-8µg/ml for Doxycycline standard solutions. It shows best regression coefficient and y/s values. The accuracy of the proposed method was determined by performing recovery studies and was found between 98-102%. The repeatability testing for both sample and standard solutions the %RSD was found as <2.0% which is within the acceptable limits showing that the method is precise as well. The LOD and LOQ were found to be 0.33 and 0.99 µg/ml for Metronidazole, 0.33 and 0.99 µg/ml for Ciprofloxacin, 0.08 and 0.25 µg/ml for Doxycycline respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied for the pharmaceutical dosage form of Metronidazole, Ciprofloxacin Doxycycline and it was as economic, eco-friendly with less retention time around 10.0 min. Conclusion: The proposed method was validated in terms of linearity, range, Accuracy, precision, Specificity, Robustness. Method was successfully applied to the estimation of Metronidazole, Ciprofloxacin Doxycycline in combined marketed pharmaceutical dosage form.

The preparation of high-performance green cementitious material from industrial solid waste is a feasible large-scale utilization approach for industrial solid waste. This work investigates the feasibility of using industrial solid wastes in a sulphoaluminate–magnesium–potassium–phosphate cementitious composite material (SAC-MKPC) clinker preparation and the influence of the calcination temperature and clinker ingredients on the hydration behavior and mechanisms of the SAC-MKPC with a Mg/P ratio of 5. The results show that the novel SAC-MKPC that was prepared from aluminum slag, carbide slag, coal gangue, and magnesium desulfurization slag was composed mainly of mineral MgO, C4A3S¯, and C2S and the calcination temperature of the main mineral phases was 1250–1350 °C. The solid-waste-based SAC-MKPC had better mechanical properties and excellent water resistance compared with the MKPC. The optimal compressive strength reached 35.2, 70.9, 84.1, 87.7, and 101.6 MPa at 2 h, 1 d, 3 d, 7 d, and 28 d of hydration, respectively. The X-ray diffraction spectra and scanning electron micrographs of the hydration products of the SAC-MKPC clinker showed that AFt and K-struvite crystals coexisted and adhered to form a dense structure. This work provides an innovative idea to produce green cementitious material using industrial solid wastes and may promote the sustainable development of the power and mining industries.

Obeticholic acid (OBE) is being used to treat primary biliary cirrhosis and cholangitis. An HPLC with refractive index detection method for eight process related substances of OBE was developed and verified for use in quality assurance laboratories for regular analysis. The separation and analysis were performed on YMC Triart C18 (3.0 µm particle size, 250 mm × 4.6 mm) column. Mobile phase employed consisted of 0.01N potassium phosphate buffer (3.0 ± 0.05 pH, set with 0.1% orthophosphoric acid) and acetonitrile at 45:55 (v/v) ratio. The method established for determination of eight impurities in OBE was validated and verified in keeping with International Council for Harmonisation guidelines. This method can be used for routine analysis of eight impurities in OBE bulk samples.
