The principle of calculation of a plate from a metamaterial with inductive type chiral inclusions is submitted. It is shown that distribution of an electromagnetic wave to such substance can be investigated with the help of introduction of a chiral parameter and on the basis of a detailed method of calculation. By comparison of two methods the dependence of chiral parameter from frequency of electromagnetic radiation falling on a plate is found. With the help of a detailed method the nonlinear differential equation for potential on the chiral plate is found. It is shown that this equation has solutions as traveling solitary and standing waves but not traveling sine waves. The analysis of the received solutions of the nonlinear equation is carried out. Transition from the multiwave solution to the solution as standing waves is graphically shown at reduction ofdistance between the chiral elements.

A prototype of a wireless charger of inductive type with serial resonance in the circuits of the transmitting and receiving coils has been developed and manufactured, and experimental studies of the efficiency of power transmission from an external source to a storage battery have been carried out. It is shown that the efficiency of the created sample takes values in the range 39% - 78 % and depends on the operating frequency and the distance between the coils. It is also shown that when using coils with an outer diameter of 500 mm, the positioning of these coils in the process of charging the battery at a distance of up to 10 cm does not lead to a significant decrease in efficiency. The experimental values of the efficiency are compared with the calculated ones obtained on a simplified model that takes into account only resistive losses in the coils, and it is shown that the experimental values of the efficiency are 15-20 % less than the calculated ones. Theoretical researches of efficiency of electric energy transfer in the wireless charger of inductive type with serial resonance in circles of transmitting and receiving coils are carried out. It is shown that this efficiency depends on the parameter (the product of the magnetic coupling coefficient and the Q- factor of the coils) and the ratio of the active resistances of the battery and the coil. It is shown that there is an optimal value of this ratio, at which the efficiency of the device is maximum (when ) and its value increases monotonically with increasing parameter . Moreover, to achieve an efficiency greater than 0.8, it is necessary to have a system of coils with a value of 10. The graphical dependences that determine the value of this efficiency as a function of these two parameters and set the allowable interval for changing the resistance ratio in terms of high energy efficiency. Numerical calculation of the high-frequency magnetic field (with an operating frequency of 100 kHz) generated by the coils was performed, in two cases - in the absence of shielding and in the presence of aluminum electromagnetic screens and showed high efficiency of such screens. The peculiarity of the calculation is that to determine the values of complex currents in both coils, which depend on the mode of operation of the whole device, use their preliminary calculation based on the created Simulink-model of the device. Optical fiber microducts are joined together by mechanical joints. These mechanical joints are bulky, require more space per joint, and are prone to air pressure leakage and water seepage during service. A battery powered electrofusion welding system with a resistive-type joint has been recently developed to replace mechanical joints. These resistive-type electrofusion joints require physical connectors for power input. Due to a different installation environment, the power input connectors of resistive optical fiber microduct joints may corrode over time. This corrosion of connectors will eventually cause water seepage or air pressure leakage in the long run. Moreover, due to connector corrosion, resistive-type optical fiber microduct joints cannot be re-heated in future if the need arises. In this study, an inductively coupled electrofusion-type joint was proposed and investigated. This inductive-type electrofusion joint is not prone to long-term corrosion risk, due to the absence of power connectors. Inductive-type electrofusion joints can be re-heated again for resealing or removal in the long run, as no metal part is exposed to the environment. The battery powered inductive welding system can be easily powered with a 38 volts 160 watt-hour battery. The inductive-type electrofusion joint was welded within one second, and passed a 300-newton pull strength test and a 10-bar air pressure leakage test. It was demonstrated that the power input requirement for inductive electrofusion joints is 64% higher than that of resistive electrofusion joints. However, these inductive joints are relatively easy to manufacture, inexpensive, have no air leakage, and no water seepage risk in highly corrosive environments.

In this paper, the authors present a comparative study of inductive and resistive superconducting residual current limiters (SFCLs) from the perspective of current limiting and transient stability of the power supply system. Different types of SFCL can be used to reduce the magnitude of the fault current in a power system. The two most commonly used types are the resistive type (rSFCL) and the inductive type (iSFCL). The study aims here to analyze the performance of SFCL using various switching algorithms when a fault occurs in a simple high voltage (HV) network.

High-level transformation languages like Rascal include expressive features for manipulating large abstract syntax trees: first-class traversals, expressive pattern matching, backtracking, and generalized iterators. We present the design and implementation of an abstract interpretation tool, Rabit, for verifying inductive type and shape properties for transformations written in such languages. We describe how to perform abstract interpretation based on operational semantics, specifically focusing on the challenges arising when analyzing the expressive traversals and pattern matching. Finally, we evaluate Rabit on a series of transformations (normalization, desugaring, refactoring, code generators, type inference, etc.) showing that we can effectively verify stated properties.

Background: In Hospital Emergency Department and Emergency Medical Services professionals experience situations in which they face difficulties or barriers to know patient’s advance directives and implement them. Objectives: To analyse the barriers, facilitators, and ethical conflicts perceived by health professionals derived from the management of advance directives in emergency services. Research design, participants, and context This is a qualitative phenomenological study conducted with purposive sampling including a population of nursing and medical professionals linked to Hospital Emergency Department and Emergency Medical Services. Three focus groups were formed, totalling 24 participants. We performed an inductive-type thematic discourse analysis. Ethical considerations: This study was approved by ethical committees of Ethical Commitee of Clínic Hospital (Barcelona) and Comittee of Emergency Medical Services (Barcelona). The participants received information about the purpose of the study. Patients’ anonymity and willingness to participate in the study were guaranteed. Findings: There were four types of barriers that hindered the proper management of patients’ advance directives in Hospital Emergency Department and Emergency Medical Services: personal and professional, family members, organisational and structural, and those derived from the health system. These barriers caused ethical conflicts and hindered professionals’ decision-making. Discussion: These results are in line with those of previous studies and indicate that factors such as gender, professional category, and years of experience, in addition to professionals’ beliefs and the opinions of colleagues and family members, can also influence the professionals’ final decisions. Conclusion: The different strategies described in this study can contribute to the development of health policies and action protocols to help reduce both the barriers that hinder the correct management and implementation of advance directives and the ethical conflicts generated.
