AbstractThe polynomial affine gravity is a model that is built up without the explicit use of a metric tensor field. In this article we reformulate the three-dimensional model and, given the decomposition of the affine connection, we analyse the consistently truncated sectors. Using the cosmological ansatz for the connection, we scan the cosmological solutions on the truncated sectors. We discuss the emergence of different kinds of metrics.

A nonlocal gravity model (2) was introduced and considered recently, and two exact cosmological solutions in flat space were presented. The first solution is related to some radiation effects generated by nonlocal dynamics on dark energy background, while the second one is a nonsingular time symmetric bounce. In the present paper, we investigate other possible exact cosmological solutions and find some the new ones in nonflat space. Used nonlocal gravity dynamics can change the background topology. To solve the corresponding equations of motion, we first look for a solution of the eigenvalue problem □(R−4Λ)=q(R−4Λ). We also discuss possible extension of this model with a nonlocal operator, symmetric under □⟷□−1, and its connection with another interesting nonlocal gravity model.

AbstractIn the present paper a new cosmological model is proposed by extending the Einstein–Hilbert Lagrangian with a generic functional $$\tilde{f}(R,P)$$ f ~ ( R , P ) , which depends on the scalar curvature R and a term P which encodes a possible influence from specific cubic contractions of the Riemann tensor. After proposing the corresponding action, the associated modified Friedmann relations are deduced, in the case where the generic functional has the following decomposition, $$\tilde{f}(R,P)=f(R)+g(P)$$ f ~ ( R , P ) = f ( R ) + g ( P ) . The present study takes into account the power-law and the exponential decomposition for the specific form of the corresponding generic functional. For the analytical approach the specific method of dynamical system analysis is employed, revealing the fundamental properties of the phase space structure, discussing the dynamical consequences for the cosmological solutions obtained. It is revealed that the cosmological solutions associated to the critical points can explain various dynamical eras, with a high sensitivity to the values of the corresponding parameters, encoding different effects due to the geometrical nature of the specific couplings.

Abstract In this article, we examine a gravitational theory including a fermion field that is non-minimally coupled to metric f (R) gravity in (2+1) dimensions. We give the field equations for fermion fields and Friedmann equations. In this context, we study cosmological solutions of the field equations using these forms obtained by the existent of Noether symmetry.

Abstract We investigated the possibility of construction the homogeneous and isotropic cosmological solutions in Weyl geometry. We derived the self-consistency condition which ensures the conformal invariance of the complete set of equations of motion. There is the special gauge in choosing the conformal factor when the Weyl vector equals zero. In this gauge we found new vacuum cosmological solutions absent in General Relativity. Also, we found new solution in Weyl geometry for the radiation dominated universe with the cosmological term, corresponding to the constant curvature scalar in our special gauge. Possible relation of our results to the understanding both dark matter and dark energy is discussed.

Under the classical field theory, a variant unification of gravity and electromagnetism on the basis of four-dimensional curved space with torsion is proposed. The connection between electromagnetic field and torsion of space is discovered, a physical interpretation of the space scalar curvature as the density of matter mass is proposed. The solution for the eigenstate of a curved space with torsion, corresponding to the electron is obtained. The identification of the field equations as the Schrodinger equation for the hydrogen atom is shown. Cosmological solutions for the expanding Universe are found, the average mass density in the Universe is estimated, and the results corresponding to the data of astronomical observations are obtained.

We study the [Formula: see text] cosmological models under the self-similarity hypothesis. We determine the exact form that each physical and geometrical quantity may take in order that the field equations (FE) admit exact self-similar (SS) solutions through the matter collineation approach. We study two models: the case[Formula: see text] and the case [Formula: see text]. In each case, we state general theorems which determine completely the form of the unknown functions [Formula: see text] such that the FE admit SS solutions. We also state some corollaries as limiting cases. These results are quite general and valid for any homogeneous SS metric[Formula: see text] In this way, we are able to generate new cosmological scenarios. As examples, we study two cases by finding exact solutions to these particular models.

In this paper, we study anisotropic universes with Modified Chaplygin gas (MCG) in the context of Randall Sundrum-2 (RS2) braneworld model. The cosmological solutions for Kantowski–Sachs (KS) and Bianchi-I universes with MCG are obtained on the RS2 braneworld. The solutions are found to be dependent on MCG parameters but are modified from the GR solutions due to the braneworld correction term arising from high-energy effects. The anisotropy and deceleration parameters are obtained for each solution and the possibility of occurrence of future singularities is considered. Interestingly, we find that one drawback of the relativistic picture can be overcome in this model giving a universe close to the presently observed state.
