Abstract Background:The nursing practicum (clinical practice) is an essential but often highly stressful aspect of the nursing degree. A review of the published literature reveals a strong focus on the stressors that originate within the practicum environment, rather than the student’s life outside the university and practice setting. This article reports on an Australian study, completed before the COVID-19 pandemic, of the university experiences of undergraduate women nurse students with family responsibilities. The findings reveal the importance of factors outside the university on the women students’ practicum experience and their ability to engage and achieve. Methods:The study was qualitative, guided by Gadamer’s hermeneutic philosophy. Twenty-nine women students with family responsibilities (partners and children) were interviewed at two stages of their degree journey. Over 50 hours of data were thematically analysed.Findings:The themes ‘family pressure’ and ‘practicum poverty’ describe the impact of domestic work, family finances and practicum organisation on student stress, wellbeing, achievement, thoughts of attrition, and family tension. These findings are particularly pertinent to Australia and other developed nations where the nurse student demographic continues to age. An interpretation of these findings against the recent impact of COVID-19 on nurse education and women’s life choices reveals the likelihood that these difficulties have intensified for women students with family responsibilities since the pandemic began. Conclusions and Recommendations:Many developed nations, including Australia, are increasingly reliant on older women nurse students to maintain the future graduate nursing workforce. This change in nurse student demographic to the mature-age student requires a revision of the organisation of the nursing practicum. Recommendations to nurse education to improve practicum accessibility for women students who have family responsibilities include the application of a flexible and collaborative approach to practicum organisation and communication. Wider recommendations to Government include a revision of the way the nursing student is financially supported during the practicum. Further research that explores the practicum experience for women nurse students during and following the COVID-19 pandemic is also recommended.

With the emergence of COVID 19 disaster, dependence on technological and electronic learning is increasing. National Education technology standard has a great impact on improving students' skills. One of these skills is problem solving which is very crucial to nurse student to be prepared to be professional nurse. This study sought to assess application of national education technology standards as perceived by nursing students and its relation to their problem solving skill during COVID 19 disaster. The study adopted a descriptive correlational design using a convenience sample (N = 218) of all fourth nursing students who accept to participate in the study at Faculty of Nursing, Menoufia University. The instruments used to gather the data were developed questionnaire by researchers to assess application of national education technology standards, and problem solving skill questionnaire. The results show that the majority of nursing students have high level of perception regarding application of these standards. Moreover, the high percentage of nursing students had high level problem solving skill, and there was a positive moderate correlation between total score national education technology standards, and total score problem solving skill. Based on the findings, it is very important to ensure application of national education technology standards for teaching staff and administrative system. Moreover, Periodic updates and training on the new changes in education technology for both nursing students and teaching staff.

Effective communication in healthcare is critical for effective patient care. This study explored communication in an acute care team simulation where medical students were asked to perform as the physician in charge to manage pre-and post-operative patients. Students’ speech was analyzed to determine differences according to communication receiver (i.e., student to nurse, student to patient). Statistical analyses revealed that speech ratio, speech intensity, and number of questions students asked to the nurse or patient were significantly different between communication receivers ( p<0.05). Furthermore, communications initiated by student to nurse contributed 34% of the total time, and 31% from student to patient. Lastly, students spoke 3% higher volume to patient than to nurse, 20% more questions were asked to nurse than to patient. Findings indicated an overall positive relationship between measured audio variables and performance.

Clinical experience process that follows clinical practices in nursing education gives students the chance of a transition fromtheory to practice as well as from being student to being a professional. Educators in particular, nurses and other health careworkers, universities and students bear important responsibilities in clinical education affected by physical setting andschool-hospital collaboration so that the nursing students can be educated in the best way. To this end; e and f articles of 9 thclause and an article of 5 th clause were enacted under Nursing Code dated 03.2010 and numbered 27515. However; thesearticles do not include an explicit and sufficient explanation about how clinical nurse, student nurse and hospitalmanagement should approach these responsibilities. The aim of the researchers is to point out that problems can be noticedmore easily and analyzed more appropriately by the experts in each law and code to be enacted by governments and thusmore systematic and effective results can be achieved.   Keywords: Education, clinical practice, learning strategies nursing policy
