Being a methyl ester of partricin, the mepartricin complex is the active substance of a drug called Ipertrofan (Tricandil), which was proven to be useful in treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and chronic nonbacterial prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Nevertheless, no direct structural evidence on the stereochemistry of its components has been presented to date. In this contribution, we have conducted detailed, NMR-driven stereochemical studies on mepartricins A and B, aided by molecular dynamics simulations. The absolute configuration of all the stereogenic centers of mepartricin A and B was defined as 3R, 7R, 9R, 11S, 13S, 15R, 17S, 18R, 19S, 21R, 36S, 37R, and 38S, and proposed as 41R. The geometry of the heptaenic chromophore of both compounds has been established as 22E, 24E, 26E, 28Z, 30Z, 32E, and 34E. Our studies on mepartricin ultimately proved that partricins A and B are structurally identical to the previously described main components of the aureofacin complex: gedamycin and vacidin, respectively. The knowledge of the stereochemistry of this drug is a fundamental matter not only in terms of studies on its molecular mode of action, but also for potential derivatization, aiming at improvement of its pharmacological properties.

Abstract We consider 3d$$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 gauge theories with fundamental matter plus a single field in a rank-2 representation. Using iteratively a process of “deconfinement” of the rank-2 field, we produce a sequence of Seiberg-dual quiver theories. We detail this process in two examples with zero superpotential: Usp(2N) gauge theory with an antisymmetric field and U(N) gauge theory with an adjoint field. The fully deconfined dual quiver has N nodes, and can be interpreted as an Aharony dual of theories with rank-2 matter. All chiral ring generators of the original theory are mapped into gauge singlet fields of the fully deconfined quiver dual.

Footbridges are generally slender and lightweight structures with low stiffness, designed to support dynamic loads generated by crowds. Therefore, these structures are exposed to vibration problems related to the resonance of human walking step frequencies and the lower vibration modes. To mitigate these problems, one of the most applied corrective strategies is the installation of tuned mass damper (TMD) systems that aim at the vibration reduction of the footbridge’s dominant mode. A fundamental matter in both the footbridge and the TMD design is the pedestrian load modelling, generally considered as a deterministically moving force or a biodynamic model. However, as human gait is a random process, the deterministic models can lead to non-realistic results, directly affecting the TMD system efficiency. In contrast, the use of probabilistic distributions to simulate the human walk randomness can lead to more reliable time series predictions. In this paper, a random walk (RW) algorithm is developed and applied to simulate different crowd scenarios using a simplified plane model of a coupled human-structure-TMD system. In each scenario, the TMD efficiency in reducing the vibration amplitudes is assessed. Results highlight the importance of considering the walking randomness and pedestrians’ dynamic properties in the TMD design.

Abstract All five-dimensional non-abelian gauge theories have a U(1)I global symmetry associated with instantonic particles. We describe an obstruction to coupling U(1)I to a classical background gauge field that occurs whenever the theory has a one-form center symmetry. This is a finite-order mixed ’t Hooft anomaly between the two symmetries. We also show that a similar obstruction takes place in gauge theories with fundamental matter by studying twisted bundles for the ordinary flavor symmetry. We explore some general dynamical properties of the candidate phases implied by the anomaly. Finally, we apply our results to supersymmetric gauge theories in five dimensions and analyze the symmetry enhancement patterns occurring at their conjectured RG fixed points.

What exists at the fundamental level of reality? On the standard picture, the fundamental reality contains (among other things) fundamental matter, such as particles, fields, or even the quantum state. Non-fundamental facts are explained by facts about fundamental matter, at least in part. In this paper, I introduce a non-standard picture called the “cosmic void” in which the universe is devoid of any fundamental material ontology. Facts about tables and chairs are recovered from a special kind of laws that satisfy strong determinism. All non-fundamental facts are completely explained by nomic facts. I discuss a concrete example of this picture in a strongly deterministic version of the many-worlds theory of quantum mechanics. I discuss some philosophical and scientific challenges to this view, as well as some connections to ontological nihilism.

Abstract We consider Chern-Simons theory coupled to massive fundamental matter in three spacetime dimensions at finite temperature, in the large N limit. We compute several thermal correlators in this theory for both fermionic and bosonic matter separately. The results are computed in the large N ’t Hooft limit but for arbitrary values of the ’t Hooft coupling. Furthermore, we generalize the computations of the four-point function of fundamental scalars in the bosonic theory to finite temperature. As a consistency check, we see that the results obtained here agree with the existing previous results in different limiting cases. Moreover, we check that the results are consistent with the conjectured bosonization duality, providing an additional evidence of it.

Abstract We generalize previously obtained results for the (all orders in the ’t Hooft coupling) thermal free energy of bosonic and fermionic large N Chern-Simons theories with fundamental matter, to values of the chemical potential larger than quasiparticle thermal masses. Building on an analysis by Geracie, Goykhman and Son, we present a simple explicit formula for the occupation number for a quasiparticle state of any given energy and charge as a function of the temperature and chemical potential. This formula is a generalization to finite ’t Hooft coupling of the famous occupation number formula of Bose-Einstein statistics, and implies an exclusion principle for Chern-Simons coupled bosons: the total number of bosons occupying any particular state cannot exceed the Chern-Simons level. Specializing our results to zero temperature we construct the phase diagrams of these theories as a function of chemical potential and the UV parameters. At large enough chemical potential, all the bosonic theories we study transit into a compressible Bose condensed phase in which the runaway instability of free Bose condensates is stabilized by the bosonic exclusion principle. This novel Bose condensate is dual to — and reproduces the thermodynamics of — the fermionic Fermi sea.

Apolitical praxis has been grown widely. Being a qualified Catholic politician is a fundamental matter because it serves as a mediator between Church and state. A Catholic politician comprhensive understanding’son GS is one of parameters for a qualification to involve in social and political practices. The research was designed to answer some fundamental guestions as the following: How far the Catholics in Madiun understand about the document of GS on political praxis? This research conducted by using a qualitative method. The results of research showed that 100% respondents were knowing about GS, although some of them did not deeply knowing. Respondents then disclosed that the contents of GS was related to both divine and human vocation to participate and being responsible in social and political life for human well-being (62,5%). According to respondents, bonum commune was main goal of the Catholic Church’s involvement in social and political praxices (75%). The result all of research showed that the formation for social and political addres can be be started from the familly pastoral ministry, and to introduce such Christian social and political values for Catholic faithful started from the early ages.
