Background: Anorectal malformation (ARM) is associated with occult spinal dysraphism (OSD). The guideline for screening for OSD in patients with ARM is still controversial. Objective: 1) To evaluate the prevalence of OSD in each type of ARM and to elucidate which types of ARM should be screened for underlying OSD. 2) To compare the methods used in radiologic screening for OSD, such as plain lumbosacral X-ray, spinal ultrasound (U/S), and spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Materials and Methods: The medical records of all patients with ARM treated at Siriraj Hospital between 2006 and 2016 were reviewed. Spinal dysraphism screening with lumbosacral X-ray, U/S, or MRI were performed depending on the surgeon’s request. Associated urinary tract anomalies were noted. Data of the surgical treatments, outcomes, and complications of treatments were collected. Results: Among the 204 ARM patients treated, 150 patients were screened for OSD, involving 150 lumbosacral X-ray, 65 U/S, and 39 MRI. The prevalence of OSD (n=33) in all types of ARM was 16.2%. The higher types of ARM had higher prevalence of OSD, except for vestibular fistula (20.5%). The prevalence of OSD in cloaca malformation, rectobladder neck fistula, rectoprostatic urethral fistula, rectobulbar urethral fistula, and perineal fistula were 28.6%, 33.3%, 16.7%, 12.5%, and 9.8%, respectively. Lumbosacral X-ray had a sensitivity of 51.7% and was not a good screening method. Sixteen of 65 U/S revealed OSD (24.6%). Tethered cord and syringomyelia were noted in nine and seven, respectively. Spinal MRI (n=39) revealed 27 OSD (69.2%) comprising 16 tethered cords, 12 spinal lipoma, and 10 syringomyelia. ARM associated with KUB anomalies had a statistically significant correlation with OSD. In 33 OSD, 17 patients (51.1%) were operated on. Fourteen received untethering spinal cord, while five had intradural lipoma excised. Conclusion: Patients with ARM had a high prevalence of OSD and should be screened for. U/S is the first-line method. MRI is strongly recommended in cloaca malformation, rectobladder neck fistula, rectoprostatic urethral fistula, vestibular fistula, and all ARM associated with KUB anomalies. Other types of ARM should be screened by MRI if feasible. Keywords: Spinal dysraphism, Tethered cord, Anorectal malformation

A finite number of vertically differentiated firms simultaneously compete for and screen agents with private information about their payoffs. In equilibrium, higher firms serve higher types. Each firm distorts the allocation downward from the efficient level on types below a threshold, but upward above. While payoffs in this game are neither quasi‐concave nor continuous, if firms are sufficiently differentiated, then any strategy profile that satisfies a simple set of necessary conditions is a pure‐stategy equilibrium, and an equilibrium exists. A mixed‐strategy equilibrium exists even when firms are less differentiated. The welfare effects of private information are drastically different than under monopoly. The equilibrium approaches the competitive limit quickly as entry costs grow small. We solve the problem of a multi‐plant firm facing a type‐dependent outside option and use this to study the effect of mergers.

AbstractWe show how to define forward- and reverse-mode automatic differentiation source-code transformations or on a standard higher-order functional language. The transformations generate purely functional code, and they are principled in the sense that their definition arises from a categorical universal property. We give a semantic proof of correctness of the transformations. In their most elegant formulation, the transformations generate code with linear types. However, we demonstrate how the transformations can be implemented in a standard functional language without sacrificing correctness. To do so, we make use of abstract data types to represent the required linear types, e.g. through the use of a basic module system.

In this paper we continue our study of the Frobenius instability locus in the coarse moduli space of semi-stable vector bundles of rank $r$ and degree $0$ over a smooth projective curve defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$. In a previous paper we identified the "maximal" Frobenius instability strata with opers (more precisely as opers of type $1$ in the terminology of the present paper) and related them to certain Quot-schemes of Frobenius direct images of line bundles. The main aim of this paper is to describe for any integer $q \geq 1$ a conjectural generalization of this correspondence between opers of type $q$ (which we introduce here) and Quot-schemes of Frobenius direct images of vector bundles of rank $q$. We also give a conjectural formula for the dimension of the Frobenius instability locus. Comment: 17 pages; Final version Epijournal de G'eom'etrie Alg'ebrique, Volume 4 (2020), Article Nr. 17

Abstract We embed the problem of public school choice design in a model of local provision of education. We define cardinal (student) segregation as that emerging when families with identical ordinal preferences submit different rankings of schools in a centralised school choice procedure. With the Boston Mechanism (BM), when higher types are less risk-averse, and there is sufficient vertical differentiation of schools, any equilibrium presents cardinal segregation. Transportation costs facilitate the emergence of cardinal segregation as does competition from private schools. Furthermore, the latter renders the best public schools more elitist. The Deferred Acceptance mechanism is resilient to cardinal segregation.

Self esteem is an individual’s assessment of his/her own abilities and evaluates himself/herself whether aperson is positive or negative, valuable or worthless. Perfectionism is someone who has too high a standard and overly worried about himself/herself being perfect and fear of failure will experience. Perfectionist feels him/her self esteem depends on the performance and results achieved. This paper aim to findout the relationship between perfectionism and self esteem in emerging adulthood students. This research is a correlational study using quantitative method of distuting quesionnaires to emerging adulthood in Jakarta area. Perfectionism questionnaire refers to Frost, Marten, Lahart, and Rosenberg, while self esteem questionnaire refers to Rosenberg. The research is using convenience sampling technique involving 429 students. The result of the study shows that adaptive perfectionism has a significant negative relationship with self esteem with r = -0.301, p = 0.000 < 0.05; maladaptive perfectionism has a significant negative relationship with self esteem with r = -0.191, p = 0.036 < 0.05; and non perfectionism has significant negative relationship with self esteem r = 0.424, p = 0.000 < 0.05. So, that the higher types of perfectionism (adaptive, maladaptive, non perfectionism), the lower student’s self esteem. This study also shows that adaptive perfectionists’GPA scores were higher than maladaptive perfectionists.

. In the article, the external parameters of the connection of a rectangular waveguide partially filled of linear dielectric with a rectangular waveguide partially filled of a nonlinear dielectric are determined. Knowledge of the external parameters of such a connection ensures the design of devices with open nonlinear elements. Promising microwave paths of radio engineering systems based on rectangular waveguides partially filled of dielectric include a wide variety of active and passive microwave devices. The plane-transverse junction of these waveguides is considered for various geometric dimensions of dielectric plates and their relative permittivity. Such a junction is characterized by reactive conductivity, which is determined through the sum of the reactive conductivities of local fields. The transverse electric field at the junction is represented through the eigenvector function of the geometric surface, which coincides with the cross section of the waveguides. The scattering matrix of the plane-transverse junction is determined through the conductivity of the sections of the two waveguides and the conductivity of the plane-transverse junction. The dependences of the traveling wave coefficient and the modulus of the reflection coefficient on the geometric dimensions of the dielectric plate are plotted taking into account the local fields generated at the plane transverse junction. At the junction of two waveguides, not only changed the geometric dimensions of the dielectric plates along the wide and narrow walls of the waveguide, but also their relative permittivity. In one case, two higher types of waves were taken into account: quasi - H30 and quasi - H12, in the other case - four higher types of waves: quasi - H30, quasi - H12, quasi - E12, quasi - H50. Calculations show that an increase in the number of higher types of waves has practically no effect on the accuracy of calculations. The results obtained indicate the rapid internal convergence of the obtained solutions and the correct choice of the transverse electric eigenvector function of rectangular waveguides partially filled of dielectric as approximate the field on the junction of two waveguides.
