Peaking parameter is the key content in the regular inspection of the pressure pipeline. Solving the problem of the peaking measurement method defined by a standard cannot be applied to a situation in which there exists a weld surface with reinforcement and misalignment. In this paper, a peaking estimation method based on data prediction was proposed to estimate the contour information of the base metal at the weld joint using the contour point set data of the base metal part of the weld. Herein, the longitudinal weld peaking estimation method based on a piecewise logistic regression (PLR) and the girth weld peaking estimation method based on a piecewise Bayesian linear regression (PBLR) were studied, and the midpoint of the two symmetrical points of the base metal on either side of the weld was used as a reference for calculating the peaking. Finally, we collected the surface profile data of longitudinal weld pressure pipes with diameters of 155 mm, 255 mm, 550 mm, and 600 mm and the surface profile data of girth weld pressure pipes with diameters of 120 mm, 130 mm, 140 mm, and 170 mm. This weld seam data used the data estimation method proposed in this article and traditional long short-term memory and fitting methods. The results showed that the proposed data prediction method could accurately predict the position of the base metal, and the theoretical mean absolute error of the peaking estimation based on the PBLR and PLR could attain 0.06 mm and 0.07 mm, respectively, which meets the parameter measurement requirements of related verification fields.

This article discusses the problems of transmission of liquefied natural gas through a non-pressure pipeline from a stationary storage facility to a transport cryogenic tank and ways to solve them. Theoretical studies have been carried out, including mathematical modeling of thermal and hydrodynamic processes during the transmission of liquefied natural gas through a pipeline by a non-pressure method.

Natural gas continues to be one of the basic energy sources used as fuel in the power sector, in industries and in households. The potential and attractiveness of this fuel is gaining special significance in the current energy transitions from coal-based power engineering to power generation based on renewable energy sources. Natural gas is supplied to consumers mainly through a network of pipelines, which ensures a relatively high reliability of the supply. Still, failures occur due to the corrosion of pipeline walls, material defects or human errors, which can result in uncontrolled release of gas. The released gas can trigger dangerous phenomena, such as fires and explosions. This paper presents an analysis of the causes and effects of damage to a medium-pressure pipeline caused by earthworks carried out within an area where a pipeline is located. Holes in the pipeline due to the impact of an excavator bucket are analysed. The impact of the excavator bucket may cause a rupture equal to 50% of the pipeline’s cross-sectional area. Hazard zones related to fires and explosions due to the released natural gas are presented. For the analysed pipeline with a diameter of 0.5 m and a gas pressure of 5 MPa, the range of hazard zones arising due to pipeline damage caused by an excavator bucket can reach about 200 m.

Abstract Aiming at the damage of the prefabricated counter bore at the elbow of the scribble pressure pipeline, a test system is established based on the ultrasonic guided wave technology, and the end echo interference is eliminated by arranging a multi-channel sensor array to achieve accurate positioning of the pipeline damage and return the measured damage Comparing the wave amplitude value with the 3% DAC curve to calculate the pipe damage cross-sectional loss rate, the test results show that the average relative error between the monitored damage cross-sectional loss rate and the actual cross-sectional loss rate is 3.46%, and the average relative error of damage location is 2.05%.

Abstract Aiming at the leakage phenomenon of pipeline system due to corrosion and other reasons, a split type iron-based shape memory alloy pipe joint based on the button bond connection was designed for repair. This split-type pipe joint can be used for quick in-situ maintenance of pipelines without cutting off pipelines or stopping transmission without pressure relief. It is especially suitable for intensive pipeline maintenance and online emergency maintenance. In order to study the connection performance of the split iron-based shape memory alloy pipe joint, this paper took the Fe17Mn4Si10Cr4Ni alloy pipe joint as the research object, and carried out pressure sealing and pull-out experiments respectively on the integral pipe joint and the split pipe joint which had not been carried out and had been subjected to one heat and mechanical training. The results showed that, compared with the integral pipe joint, the pressure seal value of the split pipe joint decreased by 40% to 20MPa and the pulling force decreased by 48.9% without heat-mechanical training. However, after 1 time of thermal-mechanical training, the pressure sealing value of the split-type pipe joint decreased by 12.5% to 32MPa and the pulling force decreased by 21.2% compared with the integral pipe joint. It can be seen that thermal-mechanical training can significantly improve the joint performance of split pipe joints, and the split pipe joint can meet the requirements of medium and low pressure pipeline connection and maintenance.
