Epigenetic regulatory mechanisms are divergent across the animal kingdom, yet little is known about the epigenome in non-model organisms. Unique features of cephalopods make them attractive for investigating behavioral, sensory, developmental and regenerative processes, but using molecular approaches in such studies is hindered by the lack of knowledge about genome organization and gene regulation in these animals. We combined bioinformatic and molecular analysis of Octopus bimaculoides to identify gene expression signatures for 12 adult tissues and a hatchling, and investigate the presence and pattern of DNA methylation and histone methylation marks across tissues. This revealed a dynamic gene expression profile encoding several epigenetic regulators, including DNA methylation maintenance factors that were highly conserved and functional in cephalopods, as shown by detection of 5-methyl-cytosine in multiple tissues of octopus, squid and bobtail squid. WGBS of octopus brain and RRBS from a hatchling revealed that less than 10% of CpGs are methylated, highlighting a non-random distribution in the genome of all tissues, with enrichment in the bodies of a subset of 14,000 genes and absence from transposons. Each DNA methylation pattern encompassed genes with distinct functions and, strikingly, many of these genes showed similar expression levels across tissues. In contrast to the static pattern of DNA methylation, the histone marks H3K27me3, H3K9me3 and H3K4me3 were detected at different levels in diverse cephalopod tissues. This suggests the methylome and histone code cooperate to regulate tissue specific gene expression in a way that may be unique to cephalopods.

We examine a nonreciprocally coupled dynamical model of a mixture of two diffusing species. We demonstrate that nonreciprocity, which is encoded in the model via antagonistic cross-diffusivities, provides a generic mechanism for the emergence of traveling patterns in purely diffusive systems with conservative dynamics. In the absence of nonreciprocity, the binary fluid mixture undergoes a phase transition from a homogeneous mixed state to a demixed state with spatially separated regions rich in one of the two components. Above a critical value of the parameter tuning nonreciprocity, the static demixed pattern acquires a finite velocity, resulting in a state that breaks both spatial and time-reversal symmetry, as well as the reflection parity of the static pattern. We elucidate the generic nature of the transition to traveling patterns using a minimal model that can be studied analytically. Our work has direct relevance to nonequilibrium assembly in mixtures of chemically interacting colloids that are known to exhibit nonreciprocal effective interactions, as well as to mixtures of active and passive agents where traveling states of the type predicted here have been observed in simulations. It also provides insight on transitions to traveling and oscillatory states seen in a broad range of nonreciprocal systems with nonconservative dynamics, from reaction–diffusion and prey–predators models to multispecies mixtures of microorganisms with antagonistic interactions.

The stock market is an essential sub-sector in the financial area. Both understanding and evaluating the mountains of collected stock data has become a challenge in relevant fields. Data visualisation techniques can offer a practical and engaging method to show the processed data in a meaningful way, with centrality measurements representing the significant variables in a network, through exploring the aspects of the exact definition of the metric. Here, in this study, we conducted an approach that combines data processing, graph visualisation and social network analysis methods, to develop deeper insights of complex stock data, with the ultimate aim of drawing the correct conclusions with the finalised graph models. We addressed the performance of centrality metrics methods such as betweenness, closeness, eigenvector, PageRank and weighted degree measurements, drawing comparisons between the experiments’ results and the actual top 300 shares in the Australian Stock Market. The outcomes showed consistent results. Although, in our experiments, the results of the top 300 stocks from those five centrality measurements’ rankings did not match the top 300 shares given by the ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) entirely, in which the weighted degree and PageRank metrics performed better than other three measurements such as betweenness, closeness and eigenvector. Potential reasons may include that we did not take into account the factor of stock’s market capitalisation in the methodology. This study only considers the stock price’s changing rates among every two shares and provides a relevant static pattern at this stage. Further research will include looking at cycles and symmetry in the stock market over chosen trading days, and these may assist stakeholder in grasping deep insights of those stocks.

Memory γδ T cells are important for the clearance of Listeria monocytogenes infection in the intestinal mucosa. However, the mechanisms by which memory γδ T cells provide protection against secondary oral infection are poorly understood. Here we used a recombinant strain of L. monocytogenes that efficiently invades the intestinal epithelium to show that Vγ4+ memory γδ T cells represent a resident memory (Trm) population in the mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs). The γδ Trm exhibited a remarkably static pattern of migration that radically changed following secondary oral L. monocytogenes infection. The γδ Trms produced IL-17A early after rechallenge and formed organized clusters with myeloid cells surrounding L. monocytogenes replication foci only after a secondary oral infection. Antibody blocking studies showed that in addition to IL-17A, the chemokine receptor C-X-C chemokine receptor 3 (CXCR3) is also important to enable the local redistribution of γδ Trm cells and myeloid cells specifically near the sites of L. monocytogenes replication within the MLN to restrict bacterial growth and spread. Our findings support a role for γδ Trms in orchestrating protective immune responses against intestinal pathogens.

When the system detects a natural wind signal , the center control module will make a signal processing for the signal, LED display module set the display mode according to the results of processing options, the display modes include the following, the LED lamps sequentially turned on in accordance with wind direction, or make the pattern presetting on the LED array move with the natural wind direction , when the natural wind signal is very weak, system will control LED array display static pattern. A stable system model is realized in accordance with the design requirements, after testing, system performance is stable, reached the set requirements.
