Drilling equipment is the key of oil and gas drilling development. Its manufacturing quality and service performance have important influence on oil and gas drilling development safety. The application of high strength grade steel plays an important role in improving drilling equipment manufacturing level and service performance. In this paper, the chemical composition, microstructure, tensile properties, impact properties and hardness of TMCP Q550D and Q-T Q550D high-strength low-alloy steel were tested and compared, and the application feasibility for drilling equipment manufacture was analyzed comprehensively. The experimental results show that the mechanical properties of Q550D by two different methods were obviously higher than the requirement of national standard. Q550D steel had excellent plasticity and toughness, which meets the requirement of drilling equipment manufacture. The main difference between different steel lied in their chemical composition and micro-structure. Carbon content of TMCP Q550D steel plate was lower than that of QT Q550D, and TMCP Q550 was mainly depend on TMCP technology and micro-alloy elements, whose micro-structure was mainly granular bainite. Q-T Q550D was mainly depend on Q-T technology, and its microstructure was tempered sorbite with obvious banded structure and slightly low toughness.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is identification of a methodology to determine CO2 emissions through facility services on an approximate and sufficiently accurate basis. This methodology is to be used by German practitioners for request for proposals (RFPs) and offers of facility services. Design/methodology/approach In accordance with ISO 14067, a matrix of CO2-relevant modules for the representation of CO2 emissions from facility services is developed. Key figures for energy consumption, transport and equipment manufacture and use are used in a case study. Findings For a transparent CO2 assessment of facility services, the following modules are required: work clothing, devices, vehicles (service personnel), supplies, transportation of personnel and overhead (vehicles and office space). In the case study, facility services account for about 30 per cent of the CO2 emissions originating from the use of the building. Research limitations/implications The methodology developed is also applicable to other services. Prior to that, however, the investigation of additional facility services (catering or security) and an extension to other types of facilities is required (office building, hospital, etc.). Practical implications The developed methodology allows transparent competition for low-carbon services concepts, for example, in RFP procedures for facility services. Social implications CO2-optimised facility services increase the demand for low-emission operating equipment and resources. They therefore have an indirect influence on the development of a low-carbon economy. Originality/value To date, there has not been a methodology that supports a transparent and practical summary of the service-related CO2 emissions associated with the resources used in facility services.

Since the late 1930s, gas turbine has begun to develop rapidly. To improve the economic and safety of gas turbine, new types were generated frequently by Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM). In this paper, a hybrid GRA-SVM prediction model is established to predict the main design parameters of new type gas turbines, based on the combination of Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). The parameters are classified into two types, system performance parameters reflecting market demands and technology development, and component performance parameters reflecting technology development and coupling connections. The regularity based on GRA determines the prediction order, then new type gas turbine parameters can be predicted with known system parameters. The model is verified by the application to SGT600. In this way, the evolution rule can be obtained with the development of gas turbine technology, and the improvement potential of several components can be predicted which will provide supports for overall performance design.

This chapter considers three main aspects of sport and industrialization. First, it challenges the conventional wisdom that the British Industrial Revolution was the catalyst for the development of modern sport in Britain and that subsequently Britain’s industrialization led to the cultural export of sport to the rest of the world. In doing so it critiques Guttmann’s theory of modernization in sport; unravels the various influences of industrialization, urbanization, and commercialization; and notes several different models of sport development that emerged around the world. Second, it examines the economic history of sport becoming an industry itself, looking at equipment manufacture, gate-money spectator sport, the role of the professional player, and the various objectives of the entrepreneurs involved. Finally, it considers sport in the industrial workplace, particularly the motives of employers who provided sports facilities for their workers. It emphasizes that sport was often offered to both male and female employees.
