This chapter first provides an overview with examples of what neural networks (NN), machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) are and their applications in biomedical and business situations. The characteristics of 29 types of neural networks are provided including their distinctive graphical illustrations. A survey of current open-source software (OSS) for neural networks, neural network software available for free trail download for limited time use, and open-source software (OSS) for machine learning (ML) are provided. Characteristics of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for machine learning available as open source are discussed. Illustrations of applications of neural networks, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are presented as used in the daily operations of a large internationally-based software company for optimal configuration of their Helix Data Capacity system.

Gravure printing, which is a roll-to-roll printed electronics system suitable for high-speed patterning of functional layers have advantages of being applied to flexible webs in large areas. As each of the printing procedure from inking to doctoring followed by ink transferring and setting influences the quality of the pattern geometry, it is necessary to detect and diagnose factors causing the printing defects beforehand. Data acquisition with three triaxial acceleration sensors for fault diagnosis of four major defects such as doctor blade tilting fault was obtained. To improve the diagnosis performances, optimal sensor selection with Sensor Data Efficiency Evaluation, sensitivity evaluation for axis selection with Directional Nature of Fault and feature variable optimization with Feature Combination Matrix method was applied on the raw data to form a Smart Data. Each phase carried out on the raw data progressively enhanced the diagnosis results in contents of accuracy, positive predictive value, diagnosis processing time, and data capacity. In the case of doctor blade tilting fault, the diagnosis accuracy increased from 48% to 97% with decreasing processing time of 3640 s to 16 s and the data capacity of 100 Mb to 5 Mb depending on the input data between raw data and Smart Data.

Abstract Light carrying orbital angular momentum constitutes an important resource for both classical and quantum information technologies. Its inherently unbounded nature can be exploited to generate high-dimensional quantum states or for channel multiplexing in classical and quantum communication in order to significantly boost the data capacity and the secret key rate, respectively. While the big potentials of light owning orbital angular momentum have been widely ascertained, its technological deployment is still limited by the difficulties deriving from the fabrication of integrated and scalable photonic devices able to generate and manipulate it. Here, we present a photonic integrated chip able to excite orbital angular momentum modes in an 800 m long ring-core fiber, allowing us to perform parallel quantum key distribution using two and three different modes simultaneously. The experiment sets the first steps towards quantum orbital angular momentum division multiplexing enabled by a compact and light-weight silicon chip, and further pushes the development of integrated scalable devices supporting orbital angular momentum modes.

Aceh government issued Aceh Qanun No. 11 of 2018 about Sharia Financial Institutions, which demands that all financial contracts in Aceh adhere to Sharia principles. This regulation has an impact on the Aceh region's financial business. PT Bank BRI Tbk Aceh has decided to conversion entire financing and funding portfolio to one of its sharia-compliant subsidiaries, PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk. microfinance portfolio is bigger than other segments. By constructing a risk analysis based on ISO 31000, this study assesses the business risk associated with converting PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk's microfinance segment in the Aceh region. The results indicate that twenty risks have been identified and evaluated. Risk can be classified into five broad categories: operational, reputational, strategic, credit, and compliance. The risk analysis results indicate that the risk is significant and requires immediate attention. Operational risk is associated with differences in data capacity, servers, the core banking system, and financing applications, whereas strategic risk is associated with differences in financial analysis, guarantee provisions, and regulations.

Abstract The transferring of medical image to the medical practitioner through cloud network with field expects around the globe to get better diagnostics and expect suggestions ever-increasing significantly. Enormous possibility of security treats arises while transferring the medical image through cloud services. In this paper, the trustworthiness, information integrity and authenticity of the patient EMR during storage and transmission over network can be improved without compromising medical quality and diagnosis accuracy. This can be achieved with the help of combined segmentation, cryptography and reversible data hiding on medical images. In this work, we store the patient basic details in the medical image using reversible data hiding with data capacity and security enhancements. The proposed method uses medical images of EMR as cover image, the patient’s details can be encoded in the cover image as data and finally encrypt the image using asymmetric key encryption. The proposed method provides more improvement in integrity, security, authenticity, data capacity and error rate. This method also maintains PSNR value above 51dB.

To increase the data capacity of a light-emitting diode (LED) based visible light communication (VLC) transmission, a polarization-division-multiplexing (PMD) green (G)- and blue (B)- light-based transmitter (Tx) module is demonstrated here. It was demonstrated that we can achieve 1200 and 1120 Mbps VLC capacities based on dual-polarized G- and a B-LED based light wave after 3 and 4 m free-space link lengths, respectively, at exceedingly low illuminance. Based on the presented VLC system, paired G-LEDs or B-LEDs with dual-polarization can also be applied on the VLC-Tx side for doubling and delivering VLC data. According to the obtained results, the largest polarization offset angle of 50° between two polarizers (POLs) can be allowed experimentally to provide optimal VLC traffic. Moreover, the relationships of polarization offset, the illuminance of LED and maximum achieved VLC capacity are also performed and analyzed.

Heavy metal pollution in the marine environment is quite high. Arsenic and Mercury are two types of dangerous heavy metals because they are toxic and are often found as components of pollution. The research objective was to determine the bio-absorption capacity and efficiency of sponge symbiotic bacteria against arsenic and mercury contaminants. The bio-absorbent material was used by two bacterial isolates, namely Bacillus licheniformis strain ATCC 9789 (Bl.6), the sponge symbiont Auletta Sp and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus strain PHCDB14 (Ac.8), the sponge symbiont Callyspongia aerizusa. The isolates were prepared through culture, then incubated 2 x 24 hours, suspension Bl.6 and Ac.8 were made, then adapted for 24 hours. Interaction with As3 + and Hg2 + contaminants with a concentration of 100 ppm in vials with time variations 0, 4, 8, 12, 16 days. The resulting interactions are extracted, concentrated, and acidified. The bio-absorption capacity and efficiency were determined based on absorption data using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS). The average efficiency of the bio-absorption of isolate Bl.6 against As3+ = 99.95%, Hg2+ = 88.49%, while isolate Ac.8 against As3+ = 99.95% and Hg2+ = 85.73%. Based on efficiency data, capacity and bio-absorption power relative to Bl.6 = Ac.8 against As3+ and Bl.6 ≥ Ac.8 contaminants to Hg2+. Isolates Bl.6 and Ac.8 adsorbed more strongly against As3+ contaminants than Hg2+.
