To explore the interplay between boredom, curiosity, and exploration, we computed a network analysis—a promising method from the emerging field of network psychometrics. This analysis (n = 490) revealed the structure of the relationships between the Short Boredom Proneness Scale (SBPS) and the two facets of the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory-II (CEI-II). Using a standard confirmatory factor analysis, we then report on the structural validation of the French SBPS, which provided support for the original conceptualization of the construct. To evaluate measurement invariance, we compared the French-speaking sample (n = 490) with an English-speaking sample (n = 364). Full configural, metric, and scalar invariance was established; thus, we provide a valid French translation of a frequently used measure of boredom that may benefit future research. The results are discussed in the context of theoretical accounts of boredom.

Background: Curiosity is a personality characteristic, which fits with wellbeing and positive functioning. The objective of this study was to assess the construct validity of the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory II (CEI-II) in Indonesia.Design and Methods: The study included 256 undergraduate students who lived in Indonesia, mean age 19.8 years old. The CEI-II measures stretching and embracing using 11 items. The English version of CEI-II was translated into Bahasa. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were addressed to examine internal consistency reliability and the test-retest reliability. To evaluate construct validity, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to assess factor structure and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to evaluate the structural model fit of the CEI-II Indonesia version. Results: The study showed Cronbach’s alpha for the internal consistency of the overall CEI-II Indonesia version was 0.77. The ICC for the test-retest reliability ranged between 0.753-0.829. EFA showed adequate with the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value of 0.86 and the Bartlett’s test of sphericity was statistically significant. CFA tested the second-order model with two-order factors and showed a model fit. Conclusions: The CEI-II Indonesia version indicated acceptable construct validity to evaluate curiosity in Indonesia.

__________________________________________________________ Abstract Curiosity is predicted, helping teenagers continue to learn and grow in life. Curiosity can be illustrated through the enthusiasm of teenagers by observing, listening, searching, and digging for information to obtain certainty about the truth. Curiosity causes teenagers to get new information that allows them to have confidence and be motivated to explore further about their curiosity. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in curiosity of teenagers by gender. The method used is a comparative quantitative approach using a different test with the determination of the sample used in this study must be adjusted to the objectives of the researcher that is included in the category of late teenagers with the number of participants is 50 boys and 50 girls. The data collection in this study was using the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory which was adapted by Kashdan, Rose & Finchan (2004) with a Likert scale model analyzed using hypothesis testing independent sample t-test. The results showed that the value of t was 2.088 and the significance test showed 0.004 <0.05, meaning there is a significant difference in curiosity between boys and girls.

Kids Fun Park is a well-known amusement park either for children or adults in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) and also enthused by tourist from inside or outside of Yogyakarta. This park also has a green open spaces as its supporting component, thus the condition of the trees in the green open spaces needed an attention. This study conducted in order to optimize the function of the green open spaces by optimizing its functions through a tree species selection and the presence of the pest. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The procedure of data retrieval is done by exploration, inventory, identification, interview, and evaluation. To facilitate research, the research location was divided into 4 sections based on the function area and the form of the game. The results of research show that Kids Fun Park has 381 individual trees from 43 species and 22 families. Overall positioning of tree species is appropriate and in good condition and healthy without any pests that attack so still feasible for tunt. However, there are 3 types of trees that less appropriate are nangka, kelapa and palem sadeng.
