Objective: To evaluate the effect of CBL (case-based learning) combined with case analysis in the teaching of clinical anesthesia. Methods: From June 2018 to June 2020, a total of 100 clinical anesthesia interns in Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into two groups, the reference group (50 interns) and the study group (50 interns), by random sampling method. The reference group was under the traditional teaching method, whereas for the study group, CBL combined with case analysis was implemented. The teaching satisfaction and achievement of the interns in both the groups were evaluated. Results: The teaching satisfaction of the study group was 98%, which was significantly higher than that of the reference group (86%) (P < 0.05); before teaching, there was no significant difference in the theoretical and clinical practice scores between the two groups (P > 0.05); however, after teaching, the theoretical and clinical practice scores of the two groups increased significantly, in which the change of the research group was significantly greater than that of the reference group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The application of CBL combined with case analysis in the teaching of clinical anesthesia has an ideal effect, improving the teaching satisfaction and achievement. It is a high-quality teaching method and is worthy of application.

Brachial plexus block commonly used in finger replantation has the advantages of simple operation, small side effects, and stable circulation, but it has inherent problems such as imperfect block range, slow onset of anesthesia, and short maintenance time of anesthesia. In order to explore the reliable clinical anesthesia effect, this paper uses experimental investigation methods to study the effect of dexmedetomidine in clinical surgery of replantation of severed fingers. Moreover, this paper uses comparative test methods, uses statistical methods to process test data, and uses intuitive methods to display test results. Finally, this paper verifies the reliability of dexmedetomidine in replantation of severed finger through comparative analysis and verifies that the anesthesia method proposed in this paper has certain user satisfaction through parameter survey.

Abstract Objective COVID-19 prevention and control demand a reduction in crowd gathering, which has a significant impact on traditional teaching and offline case-based learning (CBL). In order to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on clinical teaching, we aimed to compare the effects of an online CBL with traditional teaching model on learning outcomes of anesthesia residents. Methods Residents rotated in the Department of Anesthesiology in Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital from January 2020 to February 2021 were included in Group W (n = 19), which implemented the W-CBL teaching model. The performance of residents was evaluated with theory test and 2 survey questionnaires (A and B) were conducted after 1 month of rotating. All 20 residents rotating in the Department of Anesthesiology at our hospital from January 2018 to December 2019 were included in Group C, which implemented the traditional teaching model. Their examination results were acquired through the teaching files and survey questionnaire (A) were administered through WeChat. Results During the 1-month rotation, a total of 10 cases were discussed in Group W. The average score for theory test was higher in Group W than that in Group C (84.57 ± 4.87 vs. 79.35 ± 3.70, P = 0.001). The satisfaction rate was also in favor of Group W regarding to clinical thinking, communication skills, learning interest and self-learning ability (P < 0.05). Conclusions Online CBL based on WeChat platform is an effective and acceptable teaching strategy in comparison to lecture-based learning (LBL) among residents embarking on clinical anesthesia courses.

Local practices, contextual issues and the therapeutic challenges of South Asian perspectives are generally overlooked in standard Clinical Anesthesia textbooks with more relevance to western scenarios. The South Asian Editors of this book, have made a tremendous painstaking effort to consider these issues and present the content as per the need of the local scenarios in an evidence-based manner.
