This study was conducted to contribute to active disaster response by developing internet of things (IoT)-based vital sign monitoring e-triage tag system to improve the survival rate at disaster mass casualty incidents fields. The model used in this study for developing the e-triage tag system is the rapid prototyping model (RAD). The process comprised six steps: analysis, design, development, evaluation, implementation, and simulation. As a result of detailed assessment of the system design and development by an expert group, areas with the highest score in the triage sensor evaluation were rated “very good”, with 5 points for continuous vital sign data delivery, portability, and robustness. In addition, ease of use, wearability, and electricity consumption were rated 4.8, 4.7, and 4.6 points, respectively. In the triage application evaluation, the speed and utility scored a perfect 5 points, and the reliability and expressiveness were rated 4.9 points and 4.8 points, respectively. This study will contribute significantly to increasing the survival rate via the development of a conceptual prehospital triage for field applications and e-triage tag system implementation.

Computer numerical control (CNC) cutting machines have become essential tools for designers and architects enabling rapid prototyping, model building, and production of high-quality components. Designers often cut from new materials, discarding the irregularly shaped remains. We introduce ProjecTables, a visual augmented reality system for interactive packing of model parts onto sheet materials. ProjecTables enables designers to (re)use scrap materials for computer numerical control cutting that would have been previously thrown away, at the same time supporting esthetic choices related to wood grain, avoiding surface blemishes, and other relevant material properties. We conducted evaluations of ProjecTables with design students from Aarhus School of Architecture, demonstrating that participants could quickly and easily place and orient model parts reducing material waste. Contextual interviews and ideation sessions led to a deeper understanding of current work practices and sustainability issues with computer numerical control cutting machines and identified useful features for interactive packing to reduce waste while supporting esthetic concerns for exhibition quality design projects.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Newton’s Laws educational games in improving Newton’s Laws achievement and instructional efficiency. Two educational games were developed, namely educational games with self-explanation (DPK) and educational games without self-explanation (TPK). Based on Rapid Prototyping model, these educational games were developed in Malay Language and the contents were arranged according to Form Four Physics syllabus. Unity3D software was used as the main software in developing the educational games. A total of 196 students attended Physics play activities for two hours. Analyses of Newton’s Laws Test, mental load and interviews were conducted to examine the effectiveness of these Newton’s Laws educational games. The findings show that the students’ achievement and instructional efficiency in Newton’s Laws improved with the use of the educational games. This research concludes that the educational games mode plays an important role in increasing the students’ achievement and learning instructional efficiency with the DPK mode is the most effective and efficient. The educational games mode serves as a scaffold for the formation of a coherent mental model and automatic schema. Keywords: Educational games, Newton’s Laws, Physics, achievement, instructional efficiencyCite as: Alias, S.N., & Ibrahim, F. Hospitalization in the intensive care unit can be a stressful time for patients and their family members. Patients’ family members often have difficulty processing all of the information that is given to them. Therefore, an intensive care unit diary can serve as a conduit for synthesizing information, maintaining connection with patients, and maintaining a connection with family members outside the intensive care unit. Paper intensive care unit diaries have been used outside the United States for many years. This article explores the development of an electronic intensive care unit diary using a rapid prototyping model to accelerate the process. Initial results of design testing demonstrate that it is feasible, useful, and desirable to consider the implementation of electronic intensive care unit diaries for patients at risk for post–intensive care syndrome.

Maxillary canines are the most commonly impacted teeth, second only to third molars. Various treatment methods may be used to recover impacted maxillary canines. This is a report of a 14-year-old girl with a severely malpositioned impacted right maxillary canine which accompanied severe root resorption of adjacent tooth, treated by autotransplantation with a computer aided rapid prototyping model as a surgical guide. This case report demonstrates that autotransplantation can be a reliable treatment alternative, in cases with a severely malpositioned impacted canine, providing acceptable prognosis.
