BACKGROUND To reduce complications associated with central venous catheter (CVC) insertions, local accreditation programs utilising a supervised procedural logbook are essential. To increase compliance with such a logbook, a mobile application (App) could provide the ideal platform for trainees in an adult intensive care unit (ICU). OBJECTIVE To compare trainee compliance with completion of a logbook as part of a CVC insertion accreditation program, before and after the introduction of an App-based logbook. METHODS A retrospective observational study of logbook data, before and after the introduction of a purpose-built, app-based, electronic logbook to complement an existing paper-based logbook. Carried out over a two-year period in the adult ICU of the John Hunter Hospital (JHH), Newcastle, NSW, Australia, participants were ICU trainee medical officers completing a CVC insertion accreditation program. The primary outcome was the proportion of all CVC insertions documented in patients’ electronic medical records (EMR) appearing as logbook entries. To assess logbook entry quality, we measured and compared the proportion of logbook entries that were approved by a supervisor and contained a supervisor’s signature for the before and after periods. We also analysed trainee participation before and after the intervention by comparing the total number of active logbook users, and the proportion of first-time users who logged 3 or more CVC insertions. RESULTS Of 2,987 CVC insertions documented in the EMR between April 7, 2019, and April 6, 2021, 2,161 (72%) were included and separated into cohorts before and after the app’s introduction. Following the introduction of the App-based logbook the percentage of CVC insertions appearing as logbook entries increased from 3.6% to 20.5% (P<.001). There was no difference in the proportion of supervisor approved entries containing a supervisor’s signature before and after the introduction of the app, with 76.3% and 83.2% respectively (P=.31). Following the introduction of the App there was an increase in the percentage of active logbook users from 15.1% to 62.4% (P<.001). Adherence to one’s logbook was similar in both groups with 75% of first-time users in the before group and 79.5% in the after group going on to log at least 3 or more CVCs during their time working in ICU. CONCLUSIONS The addition of an electronic, mobile, app-based logbook to a pre-existing paper-based logbook, was associated with a higher rate of logbook compliance in trainee doctors undertaking an accreditation program for CVC insertion in ICU.

Many fishing fleets operate in mixed fisheries where several target species are caught together along with other bycatch species unintentionally caught. In some cases, fleets operate in multiple mixed fisheries depending on various factors such as time of year or current market conditions, among other factors. Data collection in the European Union (EU) involves various levels of detailed data. Economic data is generally collected on an annual time-step whereas other sources provide information at much higher resolution such as the fishing trip (landings declarations), fish day (logbook) or even in real-time (electronic logbook). In this paper a methodology is described to disaggregate the annual cost of a fleet segment into a cost per fishery and per species within the fishery. This information is of interest as it permits incorporation of the economic implications of fishery dynamics into fisheries management. Assessment of these unit costs on a fishery basis also allows accurate input into value chain analysis which is carried out on a species basis.

A new bookkeeping system called Jiskefet is being developed for A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) during Long Shutdown 2, to be in production until the end of LHC Run 4 (2029). Jiskefet unifies two functionalities: a) gathering, storing and presenting metadata associated with the operations of the ALICE experiment and b) tracking the asynchronous processing of the physics data. It will replace the existing ALICE Electronic Logbook and AliMonitor, allowing for a technology refresh and the inclusion of new features based on the experience collected during Run 1 and Run 2. The front end leverages web technologies much in use nowadays such as TypeScript and NodeJS and is adaptive to various clients such as tablets, mobile devices and other screens. The back end includes an OpenAPI specification based REST API and a relational database. This paper will describe the organization of the work done by various student teams who work on Jiskefet in sequential and parallel semesters and how continuity is guaranteed by using guidelines on coding, documentation and development. It will also describe the current status of the development, the initial experience in detector stand-alone commissioning setups and the future plans.

Title: Perception of Fishermen to Trials of Fishery Electronic Logbook at Bungus Fishing Port, Padang City, West Sumatra ProvinceLogbook fishing is one the instrument which is tested by the government in order to strengthen the supervision of the utilization of marine resources and fisheries. The use of manual logbook used today are many experienced technical problems. The problems are then expected to be resolved through the development of fishing-based electronic logbook (e-logbook) by the Center for Technology Assessment and Enginering of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (P3TKP) since 2011. This paper aims to determine the perception of fishermen toward the use of e-logbook in PPS Bungus. The study was conducted in October 2014 in PPS Bungus. Data collected in the form of primary data obtained through interviews with the help of questionnaires and secondary data such as reports from relevant institutions. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The results showed that in general the fishermen / skippers in PPS Bungus agree to using the electronic log book for the next charging of fish catch data. However, it needs to be disseminated and intensive training to master. Electronic appliance log book must also be easy to use and have simple features and understandable by fisherman / skipper. Increased compliance of fishermen in the use of electronic log book could be done through the addition of features that includes useful information for fishermen, such as fishing area information, weather information, and fish price. Port officers role in the plan of development and implementation of electronic log book becomes very important because in the implementation they will be dealing directly with fishermen, so socialization and training activities electronic log book should be given not only to the fishermen but also officers.
