Smile makeover with porcelain laminate veneer: A case report

Esthetic problems may be result of interplay of complex factors like color, shape, and structural and position abnormalities of anterior teeth. Laminate veneers are used for purpose of improving esthetic deficiencies and discolorations as well as existing abnormalities.Successful application of porcelain veneers depends on multiple factors such as the clinical and laboratory steps involved, along with the understanding of the scientific background of procedure.Conservative and esthetic approaches, such as direct and indirect laminate veneer restorations are most preferred way chosen by dentist across world to improve compromised esthetics of human beings. Technological advancements such as intraoral scanner for impression making have significantly improved the success of prosthesis.

Digital smile design as a tool in the planning of porcelain laminate veneers restoration

ABSTRACT Digital smile design is an important tool for esthetic planning in dentistry as it facilitates ease of communication between professionals and patients. This clinical report has the objective of describing a clinical procedure involving digital smile design for the placement of porcelain laminate veneer restorations. The digital smile design included dental and facial analyzes. The smile curve was drawn and a dental ruler was used to delimitate the spaces between each tooth. An approximate simulation of the smile was generated using Adobe Photoshop software. For esthetic and functional evaluation of the digital plan was created a diagnostic waxing and mock-up. The laminate veneers were made with feldspathic porcelain. Digital smile design was essential for successful planning because it enabled better patient contact with the end result. This case demonstrates the importance of this tool in esthetic dentistry.

PORCELAIN LAMINATE VENEER SEBAGAI PERAWATAN ESTETIK PADA GIGI INSISIVUS LATERALIS 1 (Laporan Kasus)

Seiring dengan meningkatnya popularitas esthethic dentistry, semakin banyak pasien yang membutuhkan perawatan yang dapat meningkatkan penampilan gigi anterior. Salah satu perawatan estetik yaitu porcelain laminate veneer yang merupakan lapisan tipis, sedikit tembus cahaya, terbuat dari bahan porselen, dan berfungsi untuk melaminasi atau menutupi gigi yang mengalami kerusakan, kelainan bentuk atau perubahan warna. Pada kasus diastema gigi 12 dan peg shape gigi 22, secara anatomis gigi terlihat lebih kecil dan akan terbentuk ruang atau diastema antar gigi. Pada kasus ini dilakukan perawatan estetik porcelain laminate veneer untuk memperbaiki bentuk dan menutupi diastema ini sehingga akan dicapai estetik yang lebih baik. Penatalaksanaan kasus yaitu wax up untuk melihat kesesuaian bentuk dan proporsi veneer yang telah didesain dengan digital smile design. Pasien menyetujui untuk dilakukan crown lengthening untuk mendapatkan level gingival margin yang lebih proporsional. Dibantu dengan diagnosis wax up dan smile designing yang direncanakan pada awal perawatan, pasien mendapatkan gambaran visual dari hasil perawatan yang diharapkan. Pasien merasa puas dengan hasil perawatan. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil yaitu porcelain laminate veneer merupakan suatu alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan penampilan estetik pada gigi anterior agar pasien mendapatkan senyum yang lebih indah.
