Etymology is a section of linguistics, a section of comparative-historical linguistics that studies the origin of language words; a set of research methods aimed at clarifying the origin of the word, as well as the result of this clarification. The etymology of the word is its linguistic and cultural-historical passport, its biography, which reflects the structural and semantic status of the word in the ancient period of language development and its place in the circle of related and unrelated languages. Etymology is designed to explain all the changes (or invariance) of the form of the word, at the same time all the metamorphoses of its meaning in the light of the cultural and historical conditions in which a language developed; rationally assess the potential inherent in the word for further development and trace the mechanisms of its semantic development. . The purpose of research is to clarify the role of etymology and axiology in semantic and etymological analysis. Semantic and etymological analysis of reference values as information centers of the grid of linguistic meanings of the nominative system reveals the original forms and original semantic dominants in the typological context, determine their potential for further semantic and nominative development in the languages studied. It is a kind of "bridge" to the new semantic links, correlated with those already established. Typological comparison allows to identify semasiological parallels (similar semantic dominants and similar semantic expansion) against the background of areal and genetic. Semasiological parallels are research-motivated, because we are dealing with one concept, which is expressed in languages with semasiologically common roots. Based on the analysis of the components of the onomasiological paradigm, we can distinguish two types of assessment: axiological evaluation on an objective basis and axiological evaluation on a subjective basis. Axiological evaluation on an objective basis focuses on rational evaluation, which researchers traditionally associate with the notion of stereotype used in logical evaluation theories. Axiological evaluation on a subjective basis. In this type of evaluation, the leading role belongs to the emotional component: the already evaluated phenomenon here is layered with the actual subjective evaluation, so the already evaluated objective feature is evaluated again, subjectively. It is a mix of a sign and its evaluation, another assessment is subjective, emotional. The formation of axiologically evaluative semantics of units of all types in the totality of meaning and form can be carried out on the basis of typological and specific for each language psychological associations of figurative and non- figurative nature, due to the presence of different people, different ideas and concepts. Language is an expression not only of the linguistic thinking of an individual nation, but also of the linguistic and cultural experience inherent in humanity as a whole.

This chapter motivates a fragmentationist research program by identifying a cluster of problems that such a research program is better positioned to address or resolve than a unified model—all instances of the phenomenon of subjects having information that’s available to them for some behavior-guiding purposes but that isn’t available for every purpose. It also identifies some of the challenges and research questions that the fragmentationist program will need to address and where the space of possible answers is not yet well charted. One cluster of such problems is about how to construct fragmented models of belief, and another cluster is about normative questions that arise concerning the rational evaluation of fragmented beliefs and believers.

The globalization development of the world allows the economic development presenting knowledge. Talent cultivation is similar to long-term investment that the importance cannot be neglected. Moreover, low birth rate in current society has each child being the treasure of the parents, who spoil the children with permissive parenting and do not realize the immaturity and low self-control of children in the preschool stage to result in children's deviant behaviors and teachers’ increasing workload and pressure. Aiming at kindergarten teachers in Jiangsu as the research objects, total 380 copies of questionnaire are distributed, and 277 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 72%. The research results are summarized as below: Kindergarten teachers are general people who have emotion and cannot exercise forbearance for everything. For this reason, school organizations should be considerate of kindergarten teachers’ emotional labor problems, parents and the mass society should treat teachers’ work with objective perspective and putting themselves in the place. Using individual emotional intelligence to achieve personal emotional accommodation in the process is an important strategy for kindergarten teachers; In the cultivation process, kindergarten teachers stress on evaluating children's level, strength, and weakness for individualized instruction. Step-by-step design of learning content aims to emphasize the importance of rational evaluation. In this case, special education teachers with better emotional intelligence performance could well apply rational evaluation and emotional accommodation strategies, reduce working pressure, and enhance subjective well-being; Kindergarten organizations could properly support teachers with time flexibility to reduce kindergarten teachers dealing with class affairs or other problems with extra time. Cooperation among people would help deal with problems and promote individual positive affect. According to the research results, suggestions are eventually proposed, expecting to help kindergarten teachers present higher commitment and better effectiveness on the teaching performance to promote the overall education quality.

Research activities that have focused on the development and understanding of self-healing concrete have proposed various technologies intended to enhance self-healing capacity. The self-healing performance cannot be identified sufficiently with either a single test or a specific parameter because there are a number of factors that influence the performance of self-healing. Thus, it has become necessary to provide standardized test methods that make it possible to verify and compare the performance of self-healing materials. In this paper, self-healing mortars based on inorganic admixtures, which are developed for sealing 0.3 mm cracks with a healing index of 90%, are produced and used to validate the water permeability test and to propose protocols for the evaluation of self-healing performance. The healing performances of three self-healing mortars and a plain mortar as a reference are evaluated with a comparative study. The equivalent crack width, which can be estimated from the water flow rate, is suggested as a rational evaluation index. Finally, a self-healing performance chart is proposed to comprehensively show the healing performance of cement-based materials.

AbstractAlthough the debate on roots of political trust is ongoing, many scholars agree on the relevance of such political factors as political/ideological distance between citizens and incumbents, political responsiveness and perceptions of performance. Less clear is to what extent such trust evaluations are generalized or specific for the three main political arenas in the European multilevel governance system (EU, national, local). With new data from the Netherlands, we demonstrate that trust in local, national and EU governments (1) is largely level-specific (i.e. is based on citizens’ perceptions of incumbents at a particular governance level) (2) and—at all three levels—is explained by level-specific political factors. This shows that political trust is a subjectively rational evaluation and that citizens develop meaningful political orientations vis-à-vis governments at different levels. Therefore, trust spillovers may be less relevant for explaining political trust in multilevel governance than assumed in previous research as executive governments at local, national and EU levels are judged “on their own turf”.

Abstract Commentators now regularly declare that the International Criminal court (ICC) – and international criminal law as a whole – is in crisis. It is certainly the case that the ICC faces a number of operational challenges, and that these challenges worry its defenders. However, one unexamined rationalist assumption is that the Court’s inability to deliver consistent outputs will mean waning influence. This article explores an alternative constructivist theory that the ICC produces diffuse social impacts that are not necessarily tied to its operating effectively. This theory is tested statistically using Google Trends data. Specifically, the article examines whether ICC intervention in a country is associated with more internet search for ‘human rights’. Taking this to be a measure of changing discourse in countries, the article finds that some types of ICC involvement are associated with a far higher interest in human rights, and that this interest only increases as ICC involvement extends in time. In short, despite its disappointments, evidence suggests that the ICC still serves a socio-pedagogical function. Though it does not fit well within a rational evaluation framework, this kind of information should be considered in ICC performance reviews.
