Predicting the performance of students plays an important role in every institution to protect their students from failures and leverage their quality in higher education. Algorithm and Programming is a fundamental course for the students who start their studies in Informatics. Hence, the scope of this research is to identify the critical attributes which influence student performance in the E-learning Environment on Moodle LMS (Learning Management System) Platform and its accuracy. Data mining helps the process of preprocessing data in a dataset from raw data to quality data for advanced analysis. Dataset set is consisting of student academic performance such as grades of Quizzes, Mid exams, Final exams, and Final projects. Moreover, the dataset from LMS is considered as well in the process of modeling, in terms of constructing the decision tree, such as punctuality submission of Quizzes, Assignments, and Final Projects. Regarding the Basic Algorithm and Programming course, which is separated into two subjects in the first and second semester, thus the research will predict the student performance in the Basic Algorithm and programming course in the second semester based on the Introduction to programming course in the first semester. Decision Tree techniques are applied by using information gain in ID3 algorithm to get the important feature which is the PP index has the highest information gain with value 0.44, also the accuracy between ID3 and J48 algorithm that shows ID3 has the highest accuracy of modeling which is 84.80% compared to J48 82.34%.

This paper introduces the results of applying a gameful approach based on six playful activities as a tool to improve the learning process in higher education. A total of 850 students from different courses of Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain) were involved in the study. The strategy was evaluated through a participant observation (active and passive) and mixed-methods surveys answered by the students. Results point out that most participants responded positively to the activities proposed. The reported levels of motivation and engagement also indicate the capabilities of this strategy as a method to enhance the learning experience of students. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges like the impact on working practices of teachers or the long-term engagement of gameful approaches requires additional research.

This article explores the link between modes of funding, governance and performance in higher education with the help of a case study involving three engineering colleges in West Bengal, India. It examines the major factors driving performances in the selected higher education institutions. It explains how the ability to adopt and implement performative policies depends on the objective functions, mode of funding and the reputation of the institutions. The findings suggest that the obsession with performance and its linkage with funding may not necessarily lead to a sustained and inclusive improvement in quality in the higher education sector. On the other hand, institutions driven by an objective of maximising prestige may ensure quality without any performative governance policies in place. The findings are contextualised in the larger debate about implementing neo-liberal policies for the improvement of quality in the higher education sector at the national and global level.

In the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), the role of higher education (HE) stays crucial for the development of highly skilled human resources in the multi-service sector. Indeed, the pharmaceutical education quality in higher education is significant for building a quality workforce in the healthcare service sectors. Additionally, the increasingly global education market required the ongoing increase of quality in higher education. This study investigates the driving factors of student satisfaction in Pharmacy education at private universities in Vietnam. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches are used in this study. For quantitative research, the surveyed questionnaire is developed and is the primary instrument. Besides, focus groups, semi-structured in-depth interviews with experts, and meta-analysis are applied instruments for qualitative research. The sample is 265 students from 3 private universities. The driving factors of student satisfaction are (1) Educational program, (2) University Reputation, (3) Business Interaction, (4) Extracurricular activities, and (5) Teaching facilitators activities. Eventually, the authors propose the suggestions for both academic and practical perspectives; simultaneously, the limitation is discussed for further research.

Quality in education is one of the main concerns for governments in order to make sure the students will be able to meet the work power needs of the sector, and be able to get a job that meets their expectations in career when they graduate. In other words, it can be summarized with two words; input quality and output equality. The study aimed to investigate Turkish academics’ perceptions about the quality in higher education in Turkey. The study adopted survey method based on quantitative data. The participants comprised 53 academics from different universities in Turkey, and they were selected randomly on voluntary basis. The data were collected in distance using “The Questionnaire of Academics’ Perceptions of Quality in Higher Education” adapted from Rossner (2008) as a Google Form. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage. The results revealed that majority of academics in Turkey were in favor for accreditation, they were in the opinion that the curricula content should be designed in accordance with the 21st century skills and market needs, and certified programs should be offered to students in an educational environment where even academics should be observed by field experts to make sure about the quality of educational practices.

Students’ experiences have been covered by a large number of studies in different areas. Even so, the concept of student experience (SX) is diffuse, as it does not have a widely accepted meaning and is often shaped to the specific purposes of each study. Understanding this concept allows educational institutions to better address the needs of students. For this reason, we conducted a systematic literature review addressing the concept of SX in higher education, specifically aiming at undergraduate students. In this work, we approach the concept of SX from the perspective of customer experience (CX), based on the premise that students are users of higher education institutions’ products, systems and/or services. We reviewed articles published between 2011 and 2021, indexed in five databases (Scopus, Web of Sciences, ACM digital, IEEE Xplore and Science Direct), trying to address research questions concerning: (1) the SX definition; (2) dimensions, attributes and factors that influence SX; and (3) methods used to evaluate the SX. We selected 65 articles and analyzed various SX definitions, as well as scales and surveys to evaluate SX, mainly relating to satisfaction and quality in higher education. We propose a holistic definition of SX and recommend ways to achieve its better analysis.
