Despite the rapid growth and advancement in the Internet of Things (IoT ), there are critical challenges that need to be addressed before the full adoption of the IoT. Data privacy is one of the hurdles towards the adoption of IoT as there might be potential misuse of users’ data and their identity in IoT applications. Several researchers have proposed different approaches to reduce privacy risks. However, most of the existing solutions still suffer from various drawbacks, such as huge bandwidth utilization and network latency, heavyweight cryptosystems, and policies that are applied on sensor devices and in the cloud. To address these issues, fog computing has been introduced for IoT network edges providing low latency, computation, and storage services. In this survey, we comprehensively review and classify privacy requirements for an in-depth understanding of privacy implications in IoT applications. Based on the classification, we highlight ongoing research efforts and limitations of the existing privacy-preservation techniques and map the existing IoT schemes with Fog-enabled IoT schemes to elaborate on the benefits and improvements that Fog-enabled IoT can bring to preserve data privacy in IoT applications. Lastly, we enumerate key research challenges and point out future research directions.

Sparse data applications have irregular access patterns that stymie modern memory architectures. Although hyper-sparse workloads have received considerable attention in the past, moderately-sparse workloads prevalent in machine learning applications, graph processing and HPC have not. Where the former can bypass the cache hierarchy, the latter fit in the cache. This article makes the observation that intelligent, near-processor cache management can improve bandwidth utilization for data-irregular accesses, thereby accelerating moderately-sparse workloads. We propose SortCache, a processor-centric approach to accelerating sparse workloads by introducing accelerators that leverage the on-chip cache subsystem, with minimal programmer intervention.

In mobile communication systems bit-rate reductions while maintaining an acceptable voice quality are necessary to achieve efficiency in channel bandwidth utilization and users satisfaction. As Long-Term Evolution(LTE) converging towards all-IP solutions and supporting VOIP service, the voice signals are converted into coded digital bit-stream and sent over the network. This paper proposes the implementation of codebook excited linear prediction (CELP) voice codec algorithm based on two source-rates of low 9.6Kbps and medium 16Kbps for achieving a perceptible level of voice quality, while efficiently using available bandwidth during the transmission over advanced LTE. The architecture of proposed CELP codec model is implemented to decompose the voice signal into a set of parameters that characterize each particular frame at the encoder part, these parameters are quantized and encoded for transmission to the decoder. The investigation showed that the configuration of the link and the applied CELP codec mode mainly influence on the obtained voice capacity and quality. The quantifying also shows that the voice quality can be traded for the enhanced capacity, since the low rate codec will produce lower voice quality than higher rate codec. Also, this paper is achieved, during theconfiguration of the system with higher channel quality indicator (CQI) index, increasing in the capacity gain to a saturated value of about 500 and 1000 users per cell over 5MHz bandwidth for transmit diversity (TD) and Open-Loop Spatial Multiplexing (OLSM) respectively and up to 1000 and 2000 users per cell over 10MHz channel bandwidth for TD and OLSM respectively.

Abstract: A high-performance network is a necessary component of any company's IT infrastructure. All operations, including internal and external communication across different corporate sites, as well as communication with clients and partners, should operate smoothly to enable smooth business activities. Failures and malfunctions in operational procedures can easily result in lost time and money. In order to maintain track of the availability, performance, and bandwidth utilization in an IT network, network monitoring software that continuously monitors operations in the network, does analysis, and warns IT workers as soon as an error happens or critical values are surpassed is highly recommended. If the administrator is not on site, network monitoring allows him or her to intervene swiftly, even if he or she is not there. Of course, each firm has unique requirements for a network monitoring solution, and with so many tools and solutions on the market, careful selection of an appropriate solution is essential. This paper discusses the different alternatives that a network solution can provide provided the appropriate criteria are taken into account during the decision-making process. AbstractThe twenty-first century is the era of electronic warfare and information warfare. The focus is of the battle between all parties. CEEMD can link the time domain and frequency domain, describe the two-dimensional time–frequency characteristics of the signal, and draw the time–frequency diagram of the signal, so as to reduce the noise signal and improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the signal. The purpose of this paper was to study how to adjust the signal square spectrum bandwidth ratio in the subject of identifying the intra-pulse modulation of radar, so as to solve the problem of identifying the type of radar intra-pulse modulation. The experimental results in this paper show that the decomposition result of EEMD is incomplete and the signal reconstruction error is larger. Compared with the previous two methods, not only the CEEMD method can effectively suppress modal aliasing, but also the decomposition result is complete; the signal reconstruction error is very small, and the decomposition results close to ideal value. The interleaving filter with a bandwidth ratio of 1:2 can divide the 100 GHz channel spacing into asymmetric output spectra with bandwidths greater than 60 GHz and 30 GHz, which effectively improves the current mix of 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s The bandwidth utilization of the system illustrates the success of the simulation experiment.

Abstract Data archiving is one of the most critical issues for modern astronomical observations. With the development of a new generation of radio telescopes, the transfer and archiving of massive remote data have become urgent problems to be solved. Herein, we present a practical and robust file-level flow-control approach, called the Unlimited Sliding-Window (USW), by referring to the classic flow-control method in the TCP protocol. Based on the USW and the Next Generation Archive System (NGAS) developed for the Murchison Widefield Array telescope, we further implemented an enhanced archive system (ENGAS) using ZeroMQ middleware. The ENGAS substantially improves the transfer performance and ensures the integrity of transferred files. In the tests, the ENGAS is approximately three to twelve times faster than the NGAS and can fully utilize the bandwidth of network links. Thus, for archiving radio observation data, the ENGAS reduces the communication time, improves the bandwidth utilization, and solves the remote synchronous archiving of data from observatories such as Mingantu spectral radioheliograph. It also provides a better reference for the future construction of the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) Science Regional Center.

Timeworn telecommunication are progressively being substituted by a new one that run over IP networks, which is recognized as voice over internet protocol (VoIP). VoIP has a number of qualities (e.g., inexpensive call rate), which make it progressively widespread in the telecommunication domain. However, VoIP faces plentiful obstacles that slow its growth. One of the major obstacles is poorly utilizing the network bandwidth. A number of techniques have been offered to handle this obstacle, including packet multiplexing techniques. This paper designs an original multiplexing techniques, called packet multiplexing and carrier header (PM-CH), to decrease the quantity of the bandwidth consumed by VoIP. PM-CH protect the bandwidth by multiplexing the packets in a header and using the Timestamp field in the RTP header. The achievement of the PM-CH technique was examined depends on connection capacity and payload shortening. Simulation outcomes show that the PM-CH technique outperforms the contrast technique in the two factors. For instance, the PM-CH technique’s connection capacity outperforms the comparable technique by 58.9% when the connection bandwidth is 1000 kbps. Consequently, the PM-CH technique attains its objective of reducing the unexploited bandwidth caused by VoIP.
