Abstract: Technology addiction has become an alarming disorder that has increasingly caught the attention of researchers, mental health counsellors and doctors. Unfortunately, those who are having the disorder do not realize that they are going through the phase of pleasurable, addictive experience of appealing themselves by long hours of social networking, gaming, and internet browsing; and affecting their psychological well-being. The symptoms of depression, anxiety, loneliness, avoidance of work and procrastination may be overlooked and hence be left untreated. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors contributing to technology addiction among UiTM Puncak Alam and UNNES, Semarang students applying SPSS v. 23. Data were collected from 656 undergraduate students of the two universities who participated in the survey: 317 and 339 questionnaires were collected from UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor, Malaysia and UNNES, Semarang, Indonesia students respectively. The results show technology usage influenced technology addiction but psychological well-being did not affect technology addiction. Additionally, UiTM Puncak Alam students are more technology addicted compared to UNNES Semarang students. This distressing condition could become worse during the current Covid-19 pandemic period and prolonged movement control order (MCO) for students, regardless whether they stay at home or on campus. Implications of the findings are further discussed. Keywords: Covid-19,Psychological Well-being,Technology Addiction, Technology Usage, University Students

Trichotillomania is the most frequent reported cause of self-inflicted hair disorders, within which are included trichoteiromania, trichotemnomania, and trichocryptomania, also known as trichorrexomania. These conditions are commonly described in the context of psychiatric disorders. Nevertheless, there exists reports in otherwise healthy patients that suffer a form of no cicatricial alopecia, such as alopecia areata. We communicate 3 cases of male androgenetic alopecia with patterned miniaturization that coexisted with trichoscopic findings of trichoteiromania. The presence of brush-like ends or broom hairs is a highly suggestive feature of this entity. To the best of our knowledge, this association was not previously reported in the medical literature. The possibility of self-induced hair loss should be kept in mind during every follow-up visit in all types of alopecia, remembering that hair loss itself is already a distressing condition.

Introduction: Vesicovaginal fistulae is abnormal communication between bladder and vagina that cause continous dribling of urine. It is physically, mentally and socially distressing condition. There are various approaches for surgeries of these urogenital fistulae with different success-rate that depend upon the experience of surgeon and surgical procedures. This study can help us to estimate the success rate of layered repair with graft in vaginal route to make stragedy to adopted in severe patient. Objective: To determine frequency of success in surgery on vesic-ovaginal fistulae by layered closured with graft repair procedures among patients admitted in Isra University. Setting: Obstetrics & Gynecology department in Isra university hospital Duration: 6 months from 10.2.2014 to 10.8.2014 Study Design: Case series Subject and methods: A total of 100 patients after having surgery for vesicovaginal fistula by layered closure with graft repair was included in this study. History and examination of all subjects were taken. The follow up visit was planned after 3 weeks of surgery. All women was questioned for recurrence of continuous urinary leakage and that without such symptoms proved by absence of leakage on methylene blue dye test was labeled as ‘success’. Results: - Frequency of success in surgery on vesic-ovaginal fistulae by layered closured with graft repair procedures was observed in 88% cases. Conclusion: The success rate of VVF repair by layered closured with graft repair procedures is high. It is concluded that obstetric urogenital fistula is a preventable condition. Background: To prevent or delay the onset of psychotic disorders or ameliorate their course, prodromal research has strived to identify and treat individuals at risk of developing psychosis. While this approach is laudable, it is, however, not entirely unproblematic from clinical and conceptual perspectives. For example, it remains unclear how we are to understand the development from a nonpsychotic, distressing condition such as schizotypal disorder to a psychotic disorder such as schizophrenia? The current terminology on the subject implies either a nonlinear jump (“conversion”) or a more linear progression (“transition”) from one disorder to another. To enrich our understanding of such diagnostic shifts, we examined the psychopathological pictures of patients who “transitioned” from schizotypal disorder to schizophrenia. Methods: From a larger study on psychopathology, we examined 40 patients who were diagnosed with schizotypal disorder at baseline. At 5-year follow-up, 30 patients maintained the diagnosis of schizotypal disorder, while 10 were re-diagnosed with schizophrenia. We examined detailed descriptions of the 10 patients who progressed to schizophrenia, comparing psychopathology and level of functioning. Results: The level of functioning decreased slightly from baseline to follow-up in 9 out of 10 patients. Eight patients had previously had micro-psychotic or psychotic experiences. All patients had self-disorders at baseline, and several patients had perceptual disorders. Nine patients had formal thought disorders at baseline. The progression is illustrated by 2 cases. Conclusion: In this small study, we did not find any striking changes in any of the patients, neither in terms of psychopathological manifestations nor in terms of their level of functioning. Thus, rather than witnessing a genuine “conversion” or “transition” from schizotypal disorder to schizophrenia, we observed dimensional fluctuations within the same condition.

Introduction: Fetid tumors are a devastating complication of cancer and cause much discomfort and patient isolation. They usually develop themselves in the last six months of life and they are very difficult to be successfully treated. The aim of this systematic review was to analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of topical and/or systemic metronidazole for the treatment of bad odor in malignant tumor wounds. Results: Sixty-two articles were initially found, and of these, only 4 articles met the inclusion criteria. Two of them were clinical trials, being 1 double-blind, randomized and 1 non-controlled phase III studies. One study was retrospective with a 10-years data collection period and 1 was a cohort prospective study. Of these, 3 analyzed the efficacy of treating malignant tumors with a bad odor using topical metronidazole and only 1 compared the use of topical and systemic metronidazole. Discussion: A factor that contributes to the bad odor not being properly controlled is the lack of standardized protocols. Over the years, studies have tried to find affordable and effective interventions to reduce serious recurrences of bad odor in necrotic wounds. Conclusion: Both topical and systemic routes have been shown to be effective in controlling bad odor. The results of this systematic review highlight the lack of research in this area with little evidence to guide clinical practice in the treatment of these injuries. Further studies are needed to establish more effective protocols to control this distressing condition, experienced by some cancer patients.

Epistaxis is commonly seen as an acute presentation to the emergency department. The level of severity can range from a minor ooze to a life-threatening bleed. The initial management is often the responsibility of junior doctors working in otolaryngology or the emergency department, so they must be familiar with the initial steps in treating this often distressing condition. The COVID-19 pandemic has complicated matters further as much of the management takes place in the upper airway. This article outlines the key considerations in the management of epistaxis, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pruritus is a distressing condition associated with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as maintenance dialysis and adversely affects the quality of life (QOL) of these patients. It has been reported to range from 20% to as high as 90%. The mechanism of CKD-associated pruritus (CKD-aP) has not been clearly identified, and many theories have been proposed to explain it. Many risk factors have been found to be associated with CKD-aP. The pruritus in CKD presents with diverse clinical features, and there are no set features to diagnose it.The patients with CKD-aP are mainly treated by nephrologists, primary care doctors, and dermatologists. Many treatments have been tried but nothing has been effective. The search of literature included peer-reviewed articles, including clinical trials and scientific reviews. Literature was identified through March 2021, and references of respective articles and only articles published in the English language were included.

A 76-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with acute onset of involuntary movements of the left side of his body. His neurological examination revealed he was oriented only to himself, and aforementioned movements of his left arm and leg. CT head demonstrated old infarcts in his right aspect of his pons and basal ganglia. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis was unremarkable. He initially had a normal blood glucose with an elevated anion gap and elevated creatine kinase. Brain MRI showed a small lacunar-type ischaemic infarct within the anteromedial aspect of the right cerebral peduncle, which localised to his haemiballism. To prevent worsening rhabdomyolysis associated with his haemiballism, the primary team initiated both tetrabenazine and diazepam. His movements improved after 1 week of medication therapy. This report discusses a thorough workup for this movement disorder and when to intervene for this distressing condition.

Purpose: This research aims to test and analyze whether the central role of SOE compare with the phenomenon of financial distress will result in dysfunctional behavior. This motivates researchers to investigate SOE financial performance and behavior. Thus, this study aims to prove that the influence of financial distress on SOE and POE behavior is different. Design/methodology/approach: The researcher employs a quantitative approach to test the hypotheses. The data collected using documentation of financial data of 55 SOE and 135 POE listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange year 2014-2018. Distress status determines using Altman Z-score and earnings management measured using the Modified Jones Model. This study examines two groups of samples originating to test hypotheses using two independent sample t-tests. Findings: The research results succeeded in proving that SOE and POE react to a distressing condition in different ways. While SOE responds in the increasing pattern, means income maximization, the POE were in the opposite direction. Research limitations/implications: Scoring bankrupt prediction use only one equation, that is Altman Z-score, thus there are bias potential due to “no one-size-fits-all” view point. Practical implications: This result suggests that the government and other shareholders should be careful in making decisions concerning distressed SOE. Originality/value: Most earnings study was conducted in good financial performance in order to get a general conclusion. Since other scholars focus on how SOE performance in a “normal” situation, this research tries to investigate their behavior in the “abnormal situation.

Background Striae distensae, or stretch marks, are a common and distressing condition affecting females two-and-a-half times more frequently than males. Despite the numerous products available for stretch mark prevention and treatment, there have been few studies that consider consumer product preference. Objective The aim of this study was to determine which products were preferred by consumers for the prevention and treatment of stretch marks based on product vehicle and product ingredients. Methods In January 2020, a search was conducted on internet retailer Amazon for products related to stretch marks. The top products were identified as those with 100 reviews or greater and a rating of 4 or higher. The products were classified as either stretch mark–specific or non stretch mark–specific. Price, rating, type of vehicle, and specific ingredients of both product groups were compared. Vehicle-type and ingredients in both product groups were compared with two-tailed two-sample proportion tests to determine if certain vehicles or ingredients were more likely to be found in stretch mark–specific products. P<.05 indicated statistical significance. Results Out of over 10,000 products, 184 were selected as the top products according to the review and rating criteria of which 117 (63.6%) were stretch mark–specific and 67 (36.4%) were non stretch mark–specific. Oil was the most common vehicle (131/184, 71.2%) while vitamin E was the most common ingredient (58/184, 31.5%). Oil, as a vehicle, was more likely to be found in stretch mark–specific products than in non stretch mark–specific products (P=.001). Olive oil (P=.02) and cocoa butter (P=.08), Centella asiatica (P=.01), and shea butter (P=.003) were the ingredients more likely to be found in stretch mark–specific products than in non stretch mark–specific products. Conclusions This study demonstrated that there are many products available for the prevention and treatment of stretch marks and identified specific ingredients in the products preferred by customers. There are few studies investigating the effectiveness of the major ingredients in the stretch mark products that are preferred by consumers. Future studies can focus on the effectiveness of the ingredients found in the products that are preferred by consumers.
