The paper reveals the results of taxonomic assessment, phytosanitary monitoring and general condition of the dendrocenosis the BNAU main building the courtyard. It is established that the age structure of plantations ranges from 10 to 80 years, with 60 years old plants to make 12 %. The group of woody plants aged from 41 to 50 years is most numerous (33 % of the total number of trees); the larges number of shrubs ages 16–20 years (6 %). The structure of the dendrocenosis of the courtyard is formed by species of woody plants, the share of their participation ranges from 5.8 to 15 % of the total number of trees: Aesculus hippocastanum L. (15 %), Acer platanoides (9.2 %), Catalpa bignonioides Walt. (7.5 %), Populus tremula L. (6.7 %), Juglans cinerea L. (6.7 %), Ulmus glabra Huds. (6.7 %), Tilia platyphyllos Scop. (5.8 %). According to the life forms of plants, the dendrocenosis is represented by trees (81.7 %) and shrubs (183.%). The taxonomic assessment of the dendrocenosis reveals that that 120 specimens of shrubs are represented by 27 species, grouped into 23 genera of 17 families of 12 orders of 2 divisions. Magnoliophyta predominates in terms of species diversity, which is represented by 24 species from 20 genera of 16 families of 11 orders. According to the number of specimens represented by families, they can be ranked as follows: Sapindaceae Juss. > Juglandaceae DC. ex Perleb> Malvaceae Juss. > Bignoniaceae Juss. > Ulmaceae Mirb. > Salicaceae Mirb. > Oleaceae Hoffmanns. & Link> Anacardiaceae R.Br. > Fabaceae Juss. > Adoxaceae E.Mey. > Paeoniaceae Raf. According to the number of woody plants, the relative living condition of the dendrocenosis is 75 %, which characterizes the weakened condition of the stand of the BNAU main building courtyard. The best living condition was observed in 46 % of the species stand such as Picea abies L., Pinus sylvestris L., Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco, Fraxinus excelsior L., Styphnolobium japonicum L., Carpinus betulus L., Rhus typhina L., Acer negundo L., Tilia cordata Mill. Under the influence of various biotic and abiotic factors, 26 % of shrubs are in a weakened state, 17 % are severely weakened, 11 % are withered. Key words: dendrocenosis, tree-shrub vegetation, species, genus, family, living condition.

Background: Chronic basilar artery dissection (BAD) is a rare pathology, and only a few reports have been mentioned in the literature. The imaging features of chronic BAD, especially those that develop into a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), are unknown. Case Description: We report a unique case of a chronic BAD with a split intimal flap that developed into an SAH. A 74-year-old man was diagnosed with BAD. After considering all treatment options, conservative treatment was selected for the patient. We continued imaging follow-up of the patient in our outpatient clinic once a year. The BA gradually dilated and the internal flap split. The patient and his family refused surgical treatment; therefore, conservative treatment was continued. Six years and 2 months from the first diagnosis, he developed a massive SAH and died. Conclusion: In the case of this patient, the weakened condition of the internal elastic lamina may have caused dissection of the intimal flap between the intima and media. Furthermore, the dissection may have developed and connected the true lumen to the pseudolumen and induced BA rupture. Thereby, split of the internal flap could be a risk factor for rupture in chronic BAD.

The deployment of the first stages of ontogenesis in all types of productive animals is determined by the change in hemostatic and rheological mechanisms. The status of these parameters strongly influences the deployment of heredity of an organism of any animal. The normal operation of the hemostasis during the neonatal strongly determines the rheological properties of blood, and therefore metabolism in the organs of young animals. Phase of neonatal calves and piglets is a serious stage of their development. Therein have the characteristic of hemostatic processes. The authors determined that during the first or second day of life in physically impaired calves and piglets develop physiologically unfavorable changes in haemostatic parameters, platelets, blood vessels and blood clotting. Emerging changes adversely affect the operation of their bodies and lead to total exclusion. The use of the drug gamavit enhances the weakened condition of newborn calves and piglets functionally acceptable reduce the activity of platelets and clotting of blood in a functionally justified the growth of the hemostatic capabilities of the vessels. It can be argued that injections of gamavit negate the existing dysfunction in hemostasis in physically weakened calves and piglets during the neonatal phase, increasing their adaptation and stimulating further growth and development of animals.

Despite its greatly weakened condition, could organised labour again be counter-hegemonic to and ultimately transformative of capitalism? Or is the current crisis, a crisis of collapse of manufacturing and wages and under-consumption due to the loss of redistributive power by key socio-political agents, possibly the final crisis of unionism, as argued by Wolfgang Streeck? Some on the political left, such as Streeck, argue that a new phase has been reached where redistributive and oppositional power of organised labour has been not just defeated but destroyed, with enormous consequences for the future of workers and capitalism itself. This article rejects such an overly pessimistic interpretation and asks what the possibility is of the labour movement’s again playing its historic role of transforming capitalism. It explores the potential role of organised labour in re-embedding the economy within democratic society, as Karl Polanyi argued, and building a socio-economic structure that is both stable and enhancing of social and environmental health. This problem is approached through a critique of the theories of Polanyi and Streeck and an examination of the unfortunate embrace of labourism and accommodation to neo-liberalism in the Australian labour movement.

This is report of the successful use of behavioral treatment in a medical crisis. The intubation process inadvertently punctured a patient's throat during the application of general anesthesia while having a routine arthroscopy. This resulted in a rapidly spreading infection, spiking temperature and dehydration. To locate the puncture, a barium swallow x-ray was necessary, but the patient's weakened condition made standing impossible. A friend and experienced therapist accompanying the patient helped him stand for the several minutes necessary to complete the barium swallow by countering the hypotensive state with angry imagery to stimulate an adrenalin surge. Several principles of effective therapeutic practice were demonstrated by this case, including the importance of the alliance, of technical eclecticism, of engaging the patient in the treatment process, and therapist experience.

Swivel walkers are being increasingly used for muscular dystrophy patients in order to prolong the period of their ambulation. Existing designs did not address the special problems of accommodating such patients comfortably and providing the easier and more assured ambulation which their weakened condition requires. The ORLAU VCG (variable centre of gravity) swivel walker has been developed so that the walking mechanics can be adjusted independently of patient posture. Additional patient support features permit the patient to be secured in their chosen position of comfort prior to setting the ambulation mechanics. Patients using the device, which is now approved for supply by the Department of Health in England and Wales, have improved their walking performance and extended their period of walking.

Floralturbation, the mixing of soil by the action of plants, is an important pedologic process in forested areas. The uprooting of trees, the most obvious form of floralturbation, is a natural process found in nearly all forested landscapes. The term uprooting is distinct from such terms as treethrow, treefall, and blowdown, which imply processes that may occur without soil disturbance, as in bole snap. Uprooting is exacerbated by shallow rooting, topographic exposure, weakened condition of the tree, certain cutting practices, and (or) low soil cohesion and shear strength. The root plate of an uprooted tree may deteriorate into a pit-mound pair, the size and shape of which depends on the characteristics of the root plate and the amount of backward displacement during uprooting. This paper (i) provides a synthesis of related terminology on the topics of treefall and uprooting, (ii) examines various lines of evidence for the widespread occurrence of uprooting, (iii) summarizes disturbance cycles for catastrophic uprooting events in different environments, (iv) discusses several examples of the economic import and scale of widespread uprooting events, and (v) reviews environmental factors and silvicultural practices that may lead to increased uprooting or can be used to minimize its likelihood.

THE DIVERSE POLICIES OF BURMESE A ND THAI GOVERNMENTS obscure the similarities between these two countries. To contrast their political styles highlights these similar features and also reveals a general political change that applies also to much of Asia. That trend is towards the politization of military leaders and their creation of political parties to sustain their power base. Civilian experts and civil organizations increasingly serve these military governments and thereby tend to bolster their legitimacy. It is two decades since the European powers commenced their withdrawal from Southeast Asia. Considerable political experimentation followed as leaders of these states adjusted their freshly won sovereignty to fit their weakened condition. Democracy burst on the region like a river in spate. Without exception every central government employed elections to legitimize itself. Then (but for the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore) military juntas moved to seize power from impotent legislatures. Liberals saw military totalitarianism sweeping Asia, conservatives viewed the nationalization practices as statism that crushed private initiative.
