Purpose. To study the effect of short-term hypoxic exposure on correlation between microcirculatory parameters (MCR) of symmetric areas of the human head. Materials and methods. MCR parameters of 10 healthy male volunteer were measured by laser Doppler flowmetry method. Short-term hypoxic exposure was produced according to the hypoxic test method using the ReOxy Cardio unit (S. A. Aimediq). We assessed the perfusion metrics left and right areas of interest, neurogenic, myogenic, respiratory and cardiac contributors to vascular tone and correlations between baseline parameters and after hypoxic exposure. Results. We revealed the specificity of regional circulation system rearranging induced by hypoxic load. The specificity is caused by functional asymmetry of correlations between different vascular tone contributors in symmetrical head areas. Strong correlation declining under the hypoxic loads between baseline perfusion on left/right was found. The perfusion changes of symmetrical temporal areas under the hypoxic loads correlate negatively with the baseline perfusion of both the same and the opposite side. Conclusion. Short-term hypoxic load rearranges the balance of different vascular tone contributors regulatory role in MCR of symmetric head areas to maintain the sustainable activity of the whole MRC.

Various methods of time series analysis have been used in studies of karst hydrological systems. Among these methods, correlation and spectral analysis have had an important role. The correlation analysis most often has been based on determination of correlation coefficients and correlation functions. Partial correlation functions (PCF) are a mathematical tool of the correlation analysis which practical applicability in karst hydrology is insufficiently explored. In this study, the correlation and spectral analysis are applied on the catchment of Rumin Springs located in the Dinaric karst area between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The available daily data are the rainfall, air temperature and relative humidity from three locations, as well as the discharge from two springs. The periods before and after the construction of HPP Orlovac in 1973 are analyzed. The basic hypothesis is that a difference between PCF obtained for two neighboring karst springs describe a difference in their functioning. The results of application show that PCF can resolve some ambiguities concerning the effects included in correlation functions and can provide the additional information that cannot be obtained by other methods of time series analysis. The obtained results are mostly in accordance with the present knowledge, and they support the existing hypotheses about the functioning of Rumin Springs.

An ATOVS and MERRA data archive containing temperature values at isobaric levels from 1000 to 50 hPa was formed to study the atmospheric effects observed over the foci of two strong earthquakes with magnitudes M = 7,3. The first seismic event was recorded on August 19, 1992 in the northern Tien Shan and the second on November 12, 2017 in the border areas of the Zagros folded mountain belt. According to USGS intense aftershock activity in these regions began with these seismic events. Using correlation and spectral analysis we studied the vertical profiles of temperature and pressure in a disturbed atmosphere over seismically active regions. The modified anomaly index was calculated at isobaric levels from 500 to 50 hPa and on its basis the registered temperature anomalies were investigated.

Analysis of many dynamic tasks arising in engineering applications is associated with the construction of spectral characteristics. However, the application of spectral analysis to random oscillations, which in most cases describe real processes (technical, technological, etc.), has a number of features and limitations associated, in particular, with the anconvergence of the Fourier transform. The substantiated metrological evaluation of the spectra associated with the reliability of the applied results is complicated by the absence of a rigorous mathematical model of a random process. The above remarks were solved on the basis of application of Kotelnikov's theorem at decomposition of a random process on known eigenfunctions. The obtained decomposition allowed us to obtain a number of results in the field of correlation and spectral analysis of random processes: the stability of the ACF and the relationship with the statistical characteristics of the implementation is proved, the orthogonal decomposition of the random process in the form of a continuous function is presented, which allows us to consider the evaluation and analyze the characteristics of the realizations without the use of a fast Fourier transform; the natural relationship between ACF and spectral density for a time-limited signal is shown, and the symmetric form of recording the signal spectrum is justified.

<p class="p1">Experimental procedures for the research of vibrations in automatic weapons mounted on combat vehicles is introduced. Experiment preparation procedures, experience and examples of evaluation of measured results in direct fire from a tracked combat vehicle are explained on BMP-2 IFV example. The result is the movements of the turret and the hull of a combat vehicle in single shot firing, and short and long burst firing. In addition to time domain analysis, methods of correlation and spectral analysis are used. Live firing experiments are complemented by laboratory experiments and are used to determine model parameters for calculations such as stiffness and damping in the suspensions of the hull, elevation parts, clearance in the elevating gear, and the natural vibration frequency of the hull and elevation parts.</p>

The effect of large-scale motions (LSMs) on the turbulent/non-turbulent (T/NT) interface is examined in a turbulent boundary layer. Using flow fields from direct numerical simulation, the shape of the interface and near-interface statistics are evaluated conditional on the position of the LSM. The T/NT interface is identified using the vorticity magnitude and a streak detection algorithm is adopted to identify and track the LSMs. Two-point correlation and spectral analysis of variations in the interface height show that the spatial undulation of the interface is longer in streamwise wavelength than the boundary-layer thickness, and grows with the Reynolds number in a similar manner to the LSMs. The average variation in the interface height was evaluated conditional on the position of the LSMs. The result provides statistical evidence that the interface is locally modulated by the LSMs in both the streamwise and spanwise directions. The modulation is different when the coherent structure is high- versus low-speed motion: high-speed structures lead to a wedge-shaped deformation of the T/NT interface, which causes an anti-correlation between the angles of the interface and the internal shear layer. On the other hand, low-speed structures are correlated with crests in the interface. Finally, the sudden changes in turbulence statistics across the interface are in line with the changes in the population of low-speed structures, which consist of slower mean streamwise velocity and stronger turbulence than the high-speed counterparts.
