Historically, classroom observations have been conducted in educational establishments for different purposes such as evaluation of teachers, promotion, curriculum design, or professional development. In this study, the researchers aimed to improve the effectiveness of the classroom observation process in an English Language Center based in a College of Technology in the Sultanate of Oman. The study adopted a qualitative research methodology and semi-structured interviews as the data collection tool. In the first stage, observers and teachers were interviewed to understand the existing classroom observation process. Based on the initial data, a training program was developed with materials from international good practice projects. Finally, the changes were identified through the second set of interviews with the participants. The major results of this study suggest that the training program contributed positively to the perceived effectiveness of the classroom observation process, reduced anxiety related to this process, and led to more balanced participation from both the observers and the teachers. Moreover, the implementation of the pre-observation conferences started taking place and post-observation meetings included more constructive feedback. This study adds to the literature on the importance of classroom observation training with a practical training program. This practical approach can be adopted in similar contexts with some adaptation to meet the specific needs of educational institutions. The researchers suggest a qualitative research approach to accompany any such future training to measure the effects of the training program.

The article provides insights into the process of developing and implementing public-private partnerships (PPP) as a key pattern of interaction between government and business which is characterized by a range of advantages, in particular investment attraction, risk sharing, handling socioeconomic and infrastructural issues, creating new jobs, etc. It is argued that building PPPs in the area of nature management embeds features associated with the existence of certain contradictions, in particular, the issue of reducing the environmental burden is the government’s responsibility whereas nature management is held at the enterprise level where environmental costs are financed by a leftover principle. This article seeks to explore the critical importance of building public-private partnerships in nature management. To attain the above goal, it is recommended to pursue the following basic objectives: to explore global trends in the process of PPP creation including those in the field of nature management; to provide argument for the critical role of PPPs for nature management in Ukraine; to identify the key issues in the implementation of the principles of environmental responsibility at the corporate level. To meet the research objectives, general scientific research methods have been employed, in particular, logical generalization, graphic analysis of the dynamics of the key indicators of nature management and in PPP functioning. A study of international good practices in the implementation of PPPs in other countries has identified the main trends which translates in transaction and investment drop and active participation of international investors from the United States, China, and France. The article exposes the reasons for the excessive human-caused environmental load in Ukraine against the corresponding indicators in developed economies. Thus, implementation of PPPs should become an important tool to tackle environmental challenges. According to the research findings, the key barriers to successful PPP performance in Ukraine are the following: their low attractiveness due to lack of awareness, fragmentary character of the registration system, low level of project implementation and completeness. Based on the study results, a conclusion could be drawn that industries alone are not capable to reduce environmental risks and harmful effects. The amount of wastes and pollutant emissions does not demonstrate a positive trend towards reduction in recent years. The article substantiates the need to implement PPPs in nature management. However, it is argued that the search for such projects is a complicated process that requires a well-balanced approach.

The use of new technologies for intervention in developmental dyslexia is steadily growing. In order to better understand the needs, the expectations, and the attitudes of Italian expert health professionals concerning such technologies, a national survey was conducted applying the Delphi methodology. Ad-hoc questionnaires were sent out to a group of eighteen experts over three successive rounds, and anonymously collected responses were aggregated and shared with the group after each round, aiming to reach a consensus on the proposed response. The goal was to define a series of statements that could form the basis for international “good practices” in the use of technologies for intervention to support dyslexia in children and adolescents. In the first round, the experts’ general opinions were collected with both multiple choice and open questions, and in the second round consensus was assessed on a series of statements based on the first replies. The cut-off of 75% consensus on each statement was reached after three rounds. Fifteen experts completed all the rounds of the process, and a final version of the statements regarding good practice in the use of technologies for dyslexia could be defined.

Stakeholders of the small-scale (<50 MW generation capacity) hydropower sector in Uganda recognise the importance of sustainable development of the resources that have social and ecological importance. Uganda is experiencing a boom in hydropower projects resulting in over generation of electricity and its exportation to neighbouring nations. Limited policies are currently available in Uganda to direct the sustainable development of this sector. Environmental flows (e-flows) practices established for the Nile Basin region and international good e-flows practices can contribute to sustainable management of hydropower developments in Uganda. The paper defines and explains e-flows, identifies water resource attributes of importance for e-flows determination associated with hydropower and threat associated with this activity in Uganda, and provides good e-flows determination and management practices based on regional and international information. The determination and management of e-flows in the hydropower sector in Uganda is largely dependent on the availability of and quality of hydrology, hydraulic and flow-ecosystem and flow-ecosystem service relationship information. This review of good-practice e-flows practice for the small hydropower sector in Uganda provides guidance to support multiple stakeholders of water resources in Uganda for a better future for all of its vulnerable communities and the environments they depend on.

Abstract: Actions to adapt to climate change will shape the political agenda in the coming years and decades. In fact, concrete actions are already being developed at the regional and local levels in Spain. Valencian Community has launched, in recent years, various actions, both planning and regulatory, that are having an impact on local scale. Municipalities do not always understand the benefits of sustainable territorial planning, because there has been no tradition in our country of territorial sustainability actions. This question is studied by mentioning the examples of international good practices and three initiatives that imply a change in the territorial culture in the Valencian territory, promoted by the regional government and that will have concrete effects on the local scale in the framework of the current process of adaptation to the global warming process. Key words: sustainable spatial planning; climate change; adaptation; regional, subregional and local scales.
