The term charisma had been used and continues to use by many people in different context. There is charisma in social, political, sports, culture and other modern leadership who have made many great impacts in winning people’s minds and hearts. This paper aims to analyze the meaning of Charisma in the Christian tradition and how it influences in society until today. In doing so the article aims to see both negative and positive aspects and influence of charisma in different Christian social context. Though the article may not give an absolute picture of the Christian tradition charisma being understood among other Christian denominations, it gives people to revisit the origin of the term Charisma and its evolution in the New Testament by the Apostle Paul. Hence, this article will analyze the meaning of Charisma in the Christian tradition and how it influences in Christian society until today and the authority of God being interpreted by charismatic group within and outside the Church.Keywords: Charisma, Holy Spirit, Grace

Democracy, pluralism, Pancasila, and religious freedom become a heated debate in Indonesia because they are not only theoretical and conceptual but also have a significant influence on many aspects of the nation’s life. Moreover, the demand for the implementation of sharī’ah from a small number of Muslim groups continues to echoe in this country which, off course, concern also the Christians who become the second largest population in this country. This paper is an attempt to examine the Christians’ participation in democracy and Pancasila amids the demand for the implementation of sharī’ah in Indonesia. It discusses theological perspectives for Christians’ participation in the public space, a brief history of the struggle on sharī’ah law and Pancasila, and how Christians have and should respond through civil society. The paper argues that Christians can participate in many ways in democratization and defending Pancasila in Indonesia through the channels of civil society.Keywords: Democracy, Pancasila, Shari’ah, Indonesian Christians

This paper sheds light on interreligious harmony taking place in the Village of Besowo where the so-called Anjang Sani-Sini tradition plays a significant role. The adaptation and integration between religion and local cultures have transformed new values in a given society. Likewise, the Anjana Sana-Sini tradition is a transformative form of an alledgedly exclusive religious doctrine within a pluralistic culture so as to bring up new ethical values or traditions. The Anjang Sana-Sini tradition is a tradition of mutual visits carried out by the residents of Besowo regardless of their religious backgrounds. The article showed that this tradition hassuccesfully fostered kinship and interreligious harmony among the people. In addition, this tradition has also created a social resilience to the threat of conflicts and at the same time estabslihed interreligious harmony in the village.Keywords: Anjang Sana-Sini, Local Culture, Interreligious Harmony

The aim of this paper is to find out the inter-religious dialogue among religions (Islam, Catholicism, and Hindu) in Kalibago sub-Village, Kalipang Village, Grogol District – Kediri Regency. By using participant observation and interviews with several leaders (sesepuh) from each religion. This article attempts to answer the question on how the interreligious harmony in the research site is built and maintained. It found out that interreligious harmony has been passed and maintained one generation to another generation where interreligious marriage, local wisdom, and the elders play a very significant role.Keywords: Religious Leaders, Local Wisdom, Interreligious Harmony

Myth as the basic of information before conducting life in society can escalate the sight toward other perspective, and make conflicting between Israel-Palestine. They are defending their myth. The myth of David and Goliath which stone as a tool in conquering the monster Goliath, it is been trying for youth Palestinian to beat Israel.Whereas, according to Abu Nimer, the reason for Palestinian using stone is like symbol that they want to show non-violent. However, by using stone, Israel fears that the story of David and Goliath will happen to them, yet the story is opposite. Now, the Israel becomes Goliath, and youth Palestinian becomes David who is throwing stone to the monster. By using Kepferer’s theory about power of myth, this article wants to analyze how strong the power of myth in the conflict of Israel-Palestine on the perspective of throwing stones.Keywords: Myth, Conflict, Israel, Palestine

The present article is an exploration on Ibn Khaldun’s notion of religious emancipation, notably in the case of Jews in his age. The exploration is based on the examination upon his magnum opus, Muqaddima. Byproduct, it describes as well the dynamic of the notion of religious emancipation and tolerance in history among the Christians and Muslims in the pre-modern era, through which the interreligious relationship is also a concern. Ibn Khaldun was an important fi gure in this endeavor through his sociological analysis of the world history, as his unique overview upon Jews as a marginal religious group. In the present article Ibn Khaldun is situated within his contemporary and considered him as a prominent Islamic thinker in liminality, a condition that allows him to envision new thing but at the same time embedded in the context. The values of divinity and humanity are two aspects cannot be separated in living religion. The presence of God in every human being is a necessity and can undeniable. Meanwhile, people are also individuals who connected from other humans, because humans are social creatures. Therefore, faith must be proportional to the good deeds. Transgender as part of social life is also trying to prove them self as being godless creatures and social beings. The purpose is realized by establishing special schools transgender (pesantren waria). Pesantren founded in Yogyakarta became the fi rst transgender pesantren in Indonesia and even in the world. In the midst of the claim, transgender is a sinner ungrateful creature nature. Transgender showed up with his spiritual experience. Experiences are certainly cannot be equated with spiritual experiences that experienced by a kiyai, santri, scholars. They are regarded righteous in the eyes of society. Through this article, the author will try to give an idea of the spiritual experience of transgender in religion. Through this article, the author does not want to judge and claim their religious pattern of right or wrong. As well as this article, is expected to add a new discourse for the reader about the spirit and transgender spiritual experience. So, it can open a religious pattern that is more inclusive and open. This study discusses the important role of the media, especially the Internet as a propaganda tool for the action of radicalism and the spread of terrorism in the name of religion. The virtual world has indeed changed the pattern and the map of radicalism and terrorism, with this technological advancement, terror is no longer only done with disgusting actions through various physical crimes, but also through the doctrination of religiously wrapped religious teachings. If the jelly catches the information, these unfounded abusive doctrines will naturally die. Tulisan ini mencoba untuk menjelaskan landasan dan prinsip-prinsip perumusan kaidah Ushul Fikih alternatif yang digagas oleh Jaringan Islam Liberal (JIL), sekaligus melihat kritik mereka terhadap kaidah Ushul Fikih lama yang sudah dianggap mapan. Untuk mengurai masalah ini, penulis melakukan studi kepustakaan dengan mengkaji tulisan salah satu aktivis JIL, Moqsith Ghazali, yang berjudul “Merancang (Kaidah) Ushul Fikih Alternatif”. Studi ini menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa kaidah Ushul Fikih alternatif yang digagas JIL bertujuan untuk membebaskan ahli hukum (baca: mujtahid) dari ketergantungan terhadap teks, merubah kebiasaan lama dari literal ke substansial, dari tekstual ke kontekstual. Sedangkan yang menjadi landasan dalam perumusan kaidah alternatif tersebut adalah maslahah dan maqa>syid al-Syari’ah yang secara mendasar terdapat dalam delapan prinsip yang mereka yakini. Delapan prinsip tersebut adalah: keadilan (al-‘Adalah), kemaslahatan (al-Maslahah), kesetaraan (al-Musawah), hikmah-kebijaksanaan (al-Hikmah), cinta kasih (al-Rah}mah), pluralisme (al-Ta’addudiyah), hak asasi manusia (huquq al-Insan), dan kesetaraan jender (al-Musawah al-Jinsiyah).Kata kunci: Jaringan Islam Liberal (JIL), kaidah Ushul Fikih alternatif, maqasyid al-Syari’ah, maslahah.

At the time of the Prophet was alive all the issues were based on the revelations and ordinances of the prophet. However, when the prophet had died of Muslims find it difficult to decide on various issues, especially relating to new problems that have not been mentioned in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Therefore, after the death of the prophet every cleric diligence to provide answers to the problems faced by law. In the historical development of usul fiqh was recognized two categorization are dominate the thinking of ushul fiqh, ushul mutakalimin and ushul hanafiyah. Ushul mutakalimin was recognized as ushul is rasionalis, ushul Hanafiyah was recognized as ushul was doctriner. But, majority of moslem scholar express that nearest by al-ra'yi was sect Hanafi was desain from the beginning theory al- Syafi’i is cope to look for the road; street sintesis from second of the tendency.
