This paper sheds light on interreligious harmony taking place in the Village of Besowo where the so-called Anjang Sani-Sini tradition plays a significant role. The adaptation and integration between religion and local cultures have transformed new values in a given society. Likewise, the Anjana Sana-Sini tradition is a transformative form of an alledgedly exclusive religious doctrine within a pluralistic culture so as to bring up new ethical values or traditions. The Anjang Sana-Sini tradition is a tradition of mutual visits carried out by the residents of Besowo regardless of their religious backgrounds. The article showed that this tradition hassuccesfully fostered kinship and interreligious harmony among the people. In addition, this tradition has also created a social resilience to the threat of conflicts and at the same time estabslihed interreligious harmony in the village. Keywords: Anjang Sana-Sini, Local Culture, Interreligious Harmony

Chapter seven, ‘Everyday Stories’, argues that teachers turned the log books in which they were supposed to keep a basic, factual record of their work into vivid stories about the communities in which they worked. Acquiring and sharing intimate, textured knowledge about local communities and the people who inhabited them was central to teachers’ sense of professional duty. They opened up dialogues between and balanced the frequently competing desires of local communities, state officials, and private do-gooders. Teachers’ mediation ran both ways. They enforced state policies, albeit in a selective manner which took account of local circumstances. However, they also represented to policymakers the flaws that they saw in those policies, the difficulties they faced in their everyday work, and the particulars of the local culture and economy. Teachers moved back and forth between acting as servants of the central state, local advocates, and independent professionals sometimes occupying more than one role at once. They sought to affect significant changes, but to do so carefully, slowly, and by working through rather than against local cultures.

This paper examines the tappan and pelepai woven fabric, a kind of woven cloth that shows the social status and position of a person in an ethnic group, as well as the preservation of the woven fabric in the Lampung Sanggi Unggak Museum which is now almost extinct. In fact, tappan woven fabric is an important symbol of identity for indigenous people of Lampung. Its extraordinary beauty is almost unrecognizable. The research method used is ethnography, by conducting in-depth interviews and engaging observations. The results of the study show that the tappan cloth was not known by the people of Lampung in general. However, one of the pioneers of local cultural preservation in the village of Sanggi Unggak Tanggamus, built a museum that collects various kinds of traditional objects, one of which is tappan cloth. The effort to preserve local culture is a form of concern of traditional leaders for extinction of Lampung culture, one of which is tappan cloth. The symbolic meaning becomes shifted or even extinct. This shows that this fabric attribute is a culture that is easy to change as indicated by Linton (1977) that there is a culture that is easy to change because it is no longer considered effective and efficient.

This research is a descriptive study using qualitative method and an ethnographic approach. This research was carried out with the aim of identifying the mystical space in mappadendang tradition which was held in Allamungeng Patue Village. After conducting the tracing process, the researcher found that mappadendang tradition which was held in Allamungeng Patue Village, Bone Regency in July 2020 was not a tradition of harvest celebration as generally in several villages in Bone Regency, especially Bugis tribe, but mappadendang was held as a form of shielding from all distress including Covid-19 outbreak. This trust was obtained after one of the immigrants who now resides in the village dreamed of meeting an invisible figure (tau panrita) who ordered a party to be held that would bring all the village people because remembering that in the village during Covid-19 happened to almost all the existing areas in Indonesia, the people of Allamungeng Patue Village were spared from the outbreak. Spontaneously, the people of Allamungeng Patue Village worked together to immediately carry out the mappadendang tradition as a form of interpretation of the message carried by the figure.
