Abstract Some years ago the doctor was seen as the one who “knows better”, and it was absolutely unconceivable that the patient could refuse the suggested treatment or even ask any questions about it. Differently, nowadays doctors face demands to keep their patients informed and can even be sued when they act without patient knowledge and consent. On the patient’s side this new paradigm does not necessarily legitimate euthanasia — still criminally forbidden in most parts of the world — but allows some kind of personal power over body, health and life, materialized in advance directives. On the doctor’s side, it entails a change in the list of good medical practices, imposing the doctrine of informed consent and the prohibition of dysthanasia.

Diponegoro University is one reputable university belonging to Indonesia. This state university is located in Semarang, Central Java Province. Global dynamics have also colored its journey in implementing its traditionally assigned three missions: teaching, conducting research, and providing public services. These make this university highly confident heading to become a research university. A research university is a step to take that the university has its competitiveness to compete with the others in the world. There are some Higher Education-rankings institutions which evaluate all Higher Education Institutions in the world, such as Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE) University Rankings, 4 International Colleges and Universities (4ICU), and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Meanwhile, the ministry which has the function to make coordination with higher education institutions in Indonesia has also conducted higher education institutional ratings, primarily for Indonesian internal needs. The criteria of a research university refer to those evaluated by the higher education institutional ratings in the international level. A research university is a new paradigm which encourages a higher education institution in Indonesia to become highly confident to globally compete with the others in the whole world.

Research background: How will the world change after the pandemic? What will be the trends of the global economy after the pandemic in the conditions of digital transformations and the impact of other cutting-edge technologies that will change both the global paradigms of the world economy and the global financial and monetary architecture? It is a problem both globally and in each country. Purpose of the article: In this article we aim to examine the processes of transformation of the financial architecture worldwide in the current conditions of financial-monetary globalization, but also of the revolutionary transformations of digitalization and cybersecurity of national, regional, and global financial systems. Research method: We start from the historical approach of the world financial and monetary phenomenon in correlation with the social evolutions. Another method of research is longitudinal: the study of the world financial and monetary phenomenon in time in the context of building the new paradigm of development at the global level with the transition of building paradigms at the national level. In this context, the statistical method and the method of collecting statistical information are also necessary. Findings & Value added: In the conditions when many countries face various serious problems of social, demographic, mass population migration, imbalances in labor markets, declining quality of life, the new international financial-monetary paradigms, but also regional and national ones demand to be correlated by promoting current policies and building economic, financial-monetary and social systems that correspond to solving these socio-economic problem.

A podcast is a Web feed containing audio or video files which is then placed on the Internet for anyone to download. What makes the podcast distinct from traditional media like broadcasting and streaming is that the podcast file will arrive in archived form. A Screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, which contains audio narration. Screencasts are useful for demonstrating simple and complicated new software to others. It is a neat way to show off work, report bugs, and show how a task can be accomplished. Screencasting is a term for recording a movie of a computer screen to a file that others can view. Screencasts are mostly used for tutorials, overview/ tours, reviews, and demonstrations. Screencasts may also be used as a way to enhance regular movie files. A Weblog, or blog, is a Web site were the owner or user of the Web site posts messages on it so that others can log on and read them. Blogs often focus on one subject, for example, if the blogger is a computer programmer, then the topic of his messages is mainly related to programming languages. However, many are using the blogs as online diaries where they post messages describing their daily news or how they feel about certain subjects. Videoblogging is a new form of blogging, which includes posting videos on the Web. It is a new paradigm for people to place aspects of their personal lives on the Web. Videoblogging is rising in popularity partially due to the release of the Video iPod and the availability of videoblogs on iTunes. So this means that with the recent boom in iPod sales, they will see this one as the most updated one and this will also hit the computer industry by storm. The rest of this article examines the new phenomenon of podcasting, screencasting, blogging, and videoblogging.

Standard data mining techniques no longer adequately represent the complexity of the world. So, a new paradigm is necessary. Symbolic Data Analysis is a new type of data analysis that allows us to represent the complexity of reality, maintaining the internal variation and structure developed by Diday (2003). This new paradigm is based on the concept of symbolic object, which is a mathematical model of a concept. In this article the authors are going to present the fundamentals of the symbolic data analysis paradigm and the symbolic object concept. Theoretical aspects and examples allow the authors to understand the SDA paradigm as a tool for mining complex data.

Purpose —The purpose of this article is to examine the consequences of mutual borrowing of educational policies and practices between the East and the West and implications for Chinese education. Design/Approach/Methods —This paper draws upon a wide variety of historical, cultural, and international assessment data. Findings —The analyses found that the mutual borrowing is unlikely to improve education to the extent that the future world demands. Originality/Value —Thus, the article concludes that instead of wasting resources and time on learning from each other's past, education systems around the world should work on inventing a new paradigm of education. China is in a unique position to work on the new paradigm.

Electronic commerce has been recognised as a source of fundamental, pan-sectoral change to the conduct of business; Chan and Swatman (2000) use the term: “A new paradigm for doing business.” Other authors have gone further, viewing modern IT developments as the latter part of a period starting in the mid-1970s that represents a transition to nothing less than a new phase of capitalist development (Amin, 1994). Benjamin, Rockhart, Scott Morton, and Wyman (1983) also suggest that the world economy has been fundamentally altered by the globalisation of competition which has largely been caused by the declining cost and consequent increasing spread of IT developments.

The formation of a new scientific picture of the world is connected with the necessity of subjectivity. This subjectivity posits no limits for the scientific aspects of cognitive processes, but embraces a comprehensive world of spiritual activity. To choose the most effective model of social behavior, it is important to have an adequate knowledge of reality (i.e., the objective regularities of the surrounding world). Modern science reflects the vagueness of reality and, in consequence, the impossibility of using classical approaches. Increasingly, the negative phenomena of the surrounding world reflects the complexity of natural and socio-natural systems, especially on the global scale. Restrictions of the classical approaches to this complexity can be overcome within the synergistic theories or hierarchical systems theory that are becoming more and more popular. The necessity of appeal to modern theories, initiated as the result of ecological crises, stimulates the processes of new paradigm formation in science, acting often in spite of the needs and motives of society.

This chapter argues that Hegel can be regarded as the philosopher who was the first to pave the way to a new paradigm of order and, thus, also to a new idea of the relation between the state and international law. Hegel would not only conceive order as a ‘system’—which emerges clearly from the investigation of the deep connection between his interpretation of international law and relations and the broader context of his philosophy—but this ‘system’ would also be something new within the horizon of the patterns of social order. Indeed, two elements of a new paradigm are at least sketched in Hegel’s philosophy: the polyarchic setting of order, and its dialectic (or maybe even communicative) understanding.
