Educational game is a digital game in its design using the elements of education and in it support teaching and learning by using technology that is interactive media. Generally an educational game has a fun look, an easy-to-use menu, as well as color combinations that are used that are GUI-based (Graphic User Interface) so as to create appeal to users. Because it is undeniable that the human brain tends to more quickly capture learning through visual images rather than writings. Therefore, graphic design of an educational game becomes one of the important points. Software applications become one of the solutions in making game design, one of which is a vector-based software applications. There are various software that can be used in accordance with the function and usefulness of each. But in general the way the software works almost same.

The popularity of Facebook among university students inevitably raises questions on the educational potential of this Social Networking Site for Higher Education. From the limited literature on the instructional uses of Facebook, one can draw conflicting conclusions. Benefits were identified through the communicative potential, student participation in study groups and through informal learning, i.e. learning that takes place outside the formal structures of the learning environment. In contrast, it is also argued that the instructional benefits of Facebook are not straightforward. This phenomenographic investigation examines the perceptions of undergraduate Graphic Design students in a higher education institution in Cyprus, on the use of Facebook for teaching and learning. Characteristic of Art and Design education is the centrality of the studio and student self-reflection. Despite some literature that considers Facebook provides a viable alternative to the physical studio, the participants in this investigation expressed a preference for face-to-face instruction and consider Facebook as complimenting rather than replacing studio practices. Some participants benefited from the use of Facebook by joining support groups and exploring information relevant to their studies. Further research can investigate how Facebook can be embedded in studio-based teaching and learning. Keywords: Facebook; Graphic Design; teaching and learning; informal learning; studio(Published: 24 September 2012)Citation: Research in Learning Technology 2012, 20: 17490 - http://dx.doi.org/10.3402/rlt.v20i0.17490

PurposeGraduate unemployment is widely reported not only in Ghana but also across the globe. The purpose of this study is to examine the relevance of the HND Commercial Art Programme, Graphic Design (CAPGD) option, to the graphic art industry and to determine the work readiness of graduates of HND CAPGD at the world of work.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative, evaluative case study research design was adopted to examine the perspectives of stakeholders of CAPGD. It was a multiple case study, which involved faculty members, graduates and industry-based supervisors. The study was conducted using in-depth semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions to obtain in-depth interpretations and conclusions that reflected the perceptions of the stakeholders.FindingsThe qualitative results indicate that the existing curriculum, based on the old polytechnic educational system, does not provide adequate practical approach to teaching and learning processes. Hence the majority of graduates lack competencies to meet industry's expectations.Research limitations/implicationsThe key limitation is lack of database on the HND Graphic Design graduates at Takoradi Technical University. This affected the data collection process as the HND Graphic Design graduate participants were not easily accessible, and, as such, much effort and risk were required to contact them. Considering the implication for education policy, the findings propose stakeholders' collaboration to ensure cross fertilization of ideas (Nwajiuba et al., 2020). Hence, a compilation of database could engender further study in this area and thus form the bases of a mixed method approach resulting in in-depth analysis for fresh insights into the study.Originality/valueThe findings provide unique insights into work readiness of Commercial Art graduates, specifically in Ghana, as it seeks to bridge a gap in literature.

Technology advancement has revolutionized the education environment, resulting in Online Distance Learning (ODL) being introduced at the tertiary level to meet the demands of various groups of individuals. While the academic environment embraces technology advancement and ODL, the world was hit with the devastating Covid-19 pandemic, putting the whole world at freeze and greater challenges. This created further challenges towards the ODL implementation, especially in the fields requiring hands-on practical lab and studio practices such as art and design. Despite the technology advancement and flexible platform, the Teaching and Learning process faces unprecedented challenges which required investigation towards its implementation and effectiveness. This article discusses the implementation of Online Distance Learning (ODL) in the teaching and learning (T&L) process of the Graphic Design Field in Malaysian Tertiary Institution. The result from the finding identified what were the challenges and can be used to further improve the implementation of ODL in the related field of study in the future.

Abstract: The critical dimension in the processes of university teaching and learning constitutes a higher stage of the intellect and morality in teachers and students. It finds its theoretical, epistemological and methodological basis in the reconstructive and autonomous capacities of the free subject that think and create. In this research I intend to address -from the experiences as a teacher and researcher- the contextual scaffolding that places critical discourse as a necessity in the teaching and learning process of graphic design students. I will make an analysis of the curricular components that intervene in the decisions to form a critical apparatus towards the visual artistic object and answer the question: what is the point of critical education and its discourse on Visual Arts in Graphic Design students? For this, I propose to rethink the notions of criticism, in diverse contexts through which visual culture transits for the sake of a more complex education, through stories that tell the intimacies of the visual arts.  Keywords: critical education, critical discourses, visual arts, graphic design, visual culture

Abstract The intent of this article is to share my research endeavors in order to raise awareness of issues relative to what and how we teach as a means to spark interest in applying the scholarship of teaching and learning to what we do as faculty in communication sciences and disorders (CSD). My own interest in teaching and learning emerged rather abruptly after I introduced academic service-learning (AS-L) into one of my graduate courses (Stevens, 2002). To better prepare students to enter our profession, I have provided them with unique learning opportunities working with various community partners including both speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and teachers who supported persons with severe communication disorders.

Abstract The use of podcasting is incredibly widespread, with experts estimating that 60 million Americans will be using podcasting in some form by 2010. The use of podcasting has grown beyond entertainment to become an educational tool, showing promise as a way to disseminate information and create networks of professional learners. However, despite the growing clinical and educational uses of podcasting in other professional disciplines, podcasting is being used primarily as a continuing education tool for speech-language pathologists and audiologists at this time. This article provides guidelines and examines the potential applications for use of podcasting in teaching and learning in communication sciences and disorders.
